Adobe Analytics

[Adobe Analytics] is best suited for digital analytics like web analytics and customer journey. It can handle a tremendous amount of data and the beauty of being online it will work faster than any other web analytics tool. Dashboards and reports are super easy to create with the drag and drop functionality.

PowerReviews

PowerReviews is a great tool for outside customers to leave reviews, however, it is not very friendly for the team that is taking the information, analyzing it, and trying to learn from it. Their website can be much improved for ease of use, additionally, it may just be my server, but it takes a lot of time for information to load, even if the review volume is 0. Just all the baggage that comes with the page loading makes it slow

Pros

Adobe Analytics

  • Adobe Analytics is very visually pleasing and user-friendly; my favorite thing is the simple drag and drop feature that makes the workspace flexible and clean.
  • Reports are easy to read with the help of graphics; another reason why Adobe Analytics is visually appealing.
  • Customer support; while it is sometimes slow to receive help, at least customer support exists, compared to Google Analytics.

PowerReviews

  • Their flexibility with moderation options works well for our business. We can moderate immediately, or have PowerReviews handle the first round of moderation.
  • The back end reporting allows us to export and distribute review content on an automated schedule, helping our product managers get first hand feedback.
  • Easy for customers to leave reviews, with some customization by product type built in and configurable for our products.
  • Also relatively easy to drop visitors in to a review form for the exact product they've purchased.
  • Good value compared to the other major player in the consumer review space.

Cons

Adobe Analytics

  • Good array of visualization options but can have more customization for some common use cases
  • The log in process takes too much time sometimes and has scope for improvement
  • The behavior flow report needs to be in a more readable format and should have some more options to customize

PowerReviews

  • I have an issue signing into PowerReviews website almost everytime I log on and need to reset my password.
  • The products that have been reviewed are frequently called "no name available." If the customer is on a product page leaving a review, I feel like it should be associated with a product name automatically.
  • On the PowerReviews website, the information is not easily condensed into one screen. The scroll left and right feature is terrible. Moving over to the right you lose sight of the name of the product you are looking at.

We've found multiple uses for Adobe Analytics in our organization. Each department analyzes the data they need and creates actionables based off of that data. For E-Commerce, we're constantly using data to analyze user engagement, website performance and evaluate ROI.

Usability

The workspace interface has made it really convenient to break down dimensions and metrics for deep down analysis. The visualization and ability to build segments quickly are really powerful. Calculated metrics also help in deriving additional insights without having to move data to Excel. There is scope for improvement by adding additional visualizations for customer journeys and data warehouse extracts.

Adobe SiteCatalyst has great actual uptime in the most standard sense, but long lag times in data during critical time periods (i.e. Holidays) I would consider to be an issue with availability.

The speed with which visualizations and data sets are returned within the tool and or data warehouse can be dissapointing.

I give the rating of a 4 just because it seems more like a process that is failing. Any time I have put a request in, they have taken days, sometimes weeks, to get back to me and even then, the issue may still persist. I believe this is the biggest weakness of the Adobe Analytics tool and has a lot of room for improvement.

In-Person Training

Adobe Analytics

Adobe Analytics 3.6

It was a one-day training several years ago that cost the organization several thousand dollars. There were only about 10 people in the training class. Adobe tried to cram so much information into that one-day class that none of our users felt like they really learned anything helpful from the experience. Follow-up training is too expensive

Videos of the different tools plus the knowledge base articles, but you do have to take the initiative to do them yourself. There are also a few great books on the subject. *Nod to Adam Greco's SiteCatalyst Handbook

Implementation Rating

Adobe Analytics

Adobe Analytics 7.0
Based on 17 answers
It is a large effort to implement. Throwing a developer with zero experience with Adobe Analytics with no support is a REALLY BAD IDEA!!! Having experienced developers working as a team is crucial to a strong implementation. I say this because I have experienced both scenarios. I was the only developer on an implementation project and I had no experience with Adobe Analytics. As a result I made many architecturally bad decisions which lead to a rigid fragile implementation that eventually was scraped. It took some hard lessons to learn that Adobe Analytics was not as simple as their sales reps make it sound. Using the Adobe Dynamic Tag Manager made sequential implementations incredibly STRONG. Having a DTM to manage the code was a miracle and a life saver!!! If you plan on doing a big enterprise level implementation, please seriously consider using the Adobe Dynamic Tag Manager!!! it made code maintenance super slick and easy which is super important for a developer!!!

Alternatives Considered

Adobe Analytics

Adobe Analytics runs a close 3 with Google Analytics and pales in comparison with Webtrends. I inherited management of Adobe, but if I had my choice I'd switch to Webtrends if not for their ease of SQL customization and their ability to easily create bitstream data without costly add-ons. When you work as an analyst, telling your boss that you need more money for software they've already purchased does not go over well. I could finagle it, but with so many key pieces relying on our web data, it's not worth it.

PowerReviews

PowerReviews had a much simpler custom integration process, which was very helpful, as we use a lot of proprietary systems. With Bazaarvoice, it was a complicated process to make any changes to the reviews section without a lot of technical involvement. Additionally, Bazaarvoice changed our rep overly frequently, making it difficult to sometimes even know who you were supposed to be calling when you had an issue.

Return on Investment

Adobe Analytics

  • As a direct result of some of our insights we obtained through Adobe Analytics, we focused on improving our mobile web pages which resulted in a significant increase in conversion rates for mobile devices (can't disclose actual figures here). We had no idea previously what % of our customers were going through certain processes on our website on a mobile device and the experience had been built for a desktop.
  • One of the insights the Next Page Flow and Fallout reports helped us find was that fallout rates for the first step in one of our multi-step processes on the website were over 50%! That helped us identify that the first step was too complicated, and we simplified it and that resulted in a >30% improvement.

PowerReviews

  • As a branded retail website, customers rely on our site for product information and content. Reviews provide an excellent resource for web content. Studies have shown products with reviews sell at least 50% better than products without reviews.
  • Since adding PowerReviews to our website, we have seen steady increases in website business, customer visits, and conversion rates.
  • Customer questions asked via the PowerReviews portal result in sales 50% of the time, and provide a very good product-based FAQ for your site.
