Adobe Connect

If communicating with 30-90 agents in the virtual world, Adobe Connect definitely allows for the communication in a simplified environment. For example, f you have 30 agents taking calls, this program offers a way for agents to communicate. If questions are needed answered, the hosts have the ability to pose those questions and get answers from the group. In a smaller group, this may be a bit of overkill and may not be needed. Large groups of 75-100 would create and environment that is less appropriate as there are to many people asking questions and not receiving answers. This amount of people in one room may get lost in the confusion.

ON24

ON24 is great for a small- to medium-sized marketing team. For a larger scale webinar program, it could be harder to scale. There are also great reporting tools but hard to navigate to.

Pros

  • Provides a recorded archive of meetings and training webinars. This fact is important as we need a record of the events and redistribute archived training.
  • Allows many participants to attend the Live Webinars or meetings without issue. As the number of participants is not the same each time, having the ability to invite as many as possible is a real plus.
  • Provides a log in the email with a link and connection information for people to join the meeting or webinar. This step is important as without it, people could not actually enjoy the benefits of the meeting or webinar.

  • Advanced Technology - console is not clunky or boring
  • Efficient Use of Staff Time - automated emails, ability to clone templates, surveys, and formats, allows me more time to work on the content, and less on set-up and outreach
  • Fun - we have received several compliments from attendees who have said how much they enjoy the widget/apps we have at their disposal. Whether it's having access to the PDF version of the slide deck right away, or simply being able to customize the screen, attendees are staying on the platform longer and remaining engaged.

Cons

  • Upload of Presentations: There seems to be a problem with the uploading of PowerPoint presentations at times. This results in multiple test, converting into PDFs, changing it up for the best results. This is because there are times when the images are lost, slides are missing or other small things.
  • Sound Issues: There have been instances where our out-of-house guest speaker has not been able to hear us (being the host). This resulted in a lot of typing back and forth between people. Also, there are times when there the is a lot of echoing in the room, so testing is absolutely recommended.
  • Reporting on Attendees: There should be a way to ensure that all email address are collected to show to the host who attended. At times, participants use fake name, abbreviations, and so forth. So this means that it can be very time consuming to review at the end. Plus, we use Marketo for the follow-up activities and Adobe does not transmit the right statuses, so this requires a manual fix at times. More time being taken.
  • New release of product features: It has taken a long time to get video recordings to be converted into MP4, which now can be done.

  • There is still no integration from SalesForce into On24. I am wasting time manually uploading registrants from SalesForce into the On24 platform. Having this seamless registration process would greatly enhance On24.
  • There are a few functions fellow On24 users have been requesting, and I back them completely: being able to organize webinars into folders (right now things are listed in one format), and the ability to edit videos from within.
  • On24 has moved away from Adobe Flash, but Flash is still a fail-safe option if a users browser isn't up-to-date. We have consistently had attendees who have trouble viewing or hearing the webinar has a result of this technology discrepancy, a problem we rarely had with other webinar service providers
  • Having a dial-in number would greatly enhance the audio quality of webinars! Many of our attendees request this function, especially since computer audio isn't always the most dependable. GotoWebinar has a dial-in, and they are a much less advance webinar service provider, so why can't on24 have one as well?

Likelihood to Renew

Adobe Connect10.0

Adobe Connect provides everything I need from a collaboration tool. Once you've had high speed internet or HD television or driven a luxury car, it's very difficult to go back to what you were using before. That's how I feel about Adobe Connect, it's the luxury car with all of the bells and whistles and moving to another product that doesn't have all of the features I've become accustomed to would be extremely frustrating.

We have already renewed once before, and I do not see this changing anytime soon.Any feature or functionality that might be missing, is never missing for long. On24 is always thinking of ways to enhance their product and keep it relevant. As part of their On24 user community, they constantly provide access for us to submit suggestions for feature and functionalities we as users would want, and a lot of time, these recommendations do get implemented.

Usability

Adobe Connect9.0
Based on 5 answers
As sophisticated a product as Adobe Connect, the ease of use is outstanding. In my experience, even a user with very little knowledge of Adobe Connect can begin using and even leading sessions with very little training to get started with the basic features. Additional training is needed to become comfortable with the number of available features, but learning curve even for those is no steeper than would normally be expected from similar software.

In a virtual event with over 1000 people attending live, we had only two complaints from attendees about tech issues. The interface for both presenters and attendees is very friendly and intuitive, and encourages exploration of the console, leading to discovery of resources and features.

Implementation

Adobe Connect7.9
Based on 4 answers
Prices do not seem to vary much among resellers of the Adobe Connect hosted license; the only price variation you're likely to find are among the audio providers. When implementing, you may also wish to look into expanding the amount of storage you are allowed on the server to avoid any problems later on as your library of files starts to build up

We had a few training's, which were broken up, and focused on specific areas of how to use the platform. Mostly though, a lot of it is just dedicating your time to learning and exploring what the possibilities are for enhancing your webinars

Alternatives Considered

I've worked for several conferencing companies and have supported a lot of online products. I've talked a lot about what Adobe Connect does well and not so well in this review, but the customization and flexibility you get with Adobe Connect is the main reason I find it to be the best collaboration technology out there. I can completely brand and customize my meeting room to use only the features that I need. I can turn on/off any feature with a simple mouse click. I can prepapre several different layouts to quickly change the look and function of my virtual meeting room. Adobe Connect also allows developers to create functionality that doesn't come out of the box. You can create custom .swf files that are like apps for your meeting room and they add both functionality and fun into the Adobe Connect experience. Third party developers have created custom .swf files for closed captioning, rock paper scissors, Jeopardy style trivia games, countdown timers, clocks, mp3 players and much more. Adobe Connect goes way beyond just screen sharing

Return on Investment

  • Adobe Connect has increased student success and student relationships with instructors.
  • Employees are now able to log-in for meetings that fit around their schedule while still being able to view archives for missed information.
  • Employees from a variety of places are able to come together to gain insights on best practices, new college initiatives and state of the college as well as share ideas.

  • Yes, as mentioned earlier we've found that webinars are a great pipeline for sales - especially as it relates to new product launches.
  • Also, it's helps with customer retention when we're able to speak to Thought Leadership topics that may not have a direct line to sales.
  • We haven't used it for internal training purposes.
