It's really well suited to being a central hub for your display campaigns across the web and Facebook. I'd say that it's perhaps less appropriate if you want to get into the nitty gritty with what's possible with Facebook Direct - for the convenience of AdRoll you do sacrifice some capabilities to do more advanced advertising.

Demandbase is definitely a great product for companies that are looking to capitalize in general sales, website traffic, etc... but it's not great for companies that already have very effective research and marketing. Demandbase provides a very good base layer for assistance in sales, but for the companies that are looking to increase their effeciency from 95% to 97%, a different, less "oversimplified" consultant would be better.

  • Segmentation. It's pretty easy to set up conversion segments and track where we are seeing conversions.

  • Too expensive, their CPM is high!

Honestly, AdRoll is like every other ad management system. In fact, all ad management systems are pretty much identical with a few proprietary tweaks. Creating a campaign is done in one seamless screen with everything you need right there. The ability to add creative and even order AdRoll to create ads for you is also easy. The monitoring of a live campaign is easy as you can see all the necessary information from the main screen. Super easy to use and reliable deliverability

Alternatives Considered

I have also worked with another product Perfect Audience. In comparison Adroll out performs them in almost every area. I found that Perfect Audience's UI was hard to navigate and setting up segmentation was especially confusing. Also we use a 3rd party ad-server, which perfect audience will not grant you access to unless you are spending a minimum of $10k a month which is pretty steep for a self-managed platform. I have also worked with Retargeter, which I would recommend it over perfect audience. Their UI is easy to navigate and they don't require minimums to get access to a designated account manager or to use their 3rd party ad serving. The one area they lack in is that they don't have as much social media advertising capabilities

For what Demandbase does, I haven't found a direct competitor who can deliver the same functionality. Many claim to have company targeted advertising, but they tend to target members of networks who fit a certain demographic profile (title, company size, industry, region), but that doesn't guarantee the company I need to target is included in that segment.
