Auvik
Auvik is a great tool for discovering the details and eccentricities of your or your customer's networks. It truly is a tool I didn't know I needed and now I can't live without. Immediately after deploying it I was able to proactively identify some network pain points that allowed me to correct multiple network deficiencies and create happier customers without even realizing they were having problems (slow network speeds, congested ports). Onboarding and ongoing support are top notch. They really don't just "throw you to the wolves," though that being said, the complexity of the product does merit taking the onboarding and initial setup seriously and not just going with a "deploy and go" type of scenario, but that's strictly because of the scope and feature set that the product offers.

For monitoring specific URLs for response time, tracking performance of an application over time, and being able to drill down to the function level where an app component might be experiencing an issue, it seems to be well suited. Also, the overall NR suite seems to experience rapid changes, which could potentially be somewhat unsettling to users who are trying to get familiar with a feature area. I'm unsure also, how consistently these are documented. It seems to have less ability them some other products, to be able to see what low-level procedures on the code or DB side could be bottlenecks.

- Sometimes we can't drill down deep enough on errors or traces.
- Inter communication paths are not obvious (stack) though service maps are helpful at times.
- I often feel like it's not really built for cloud monitoring and microservices.
- There are additional plugins that our IT dept can't seem to get working with our product, like Kubernetes, PostgreSQL.

I have not yet found any similar product that offers me this range of features to help us keep our online service fast and reliable. Besides this, New Relic is constantly evolving by adding new plugins to emerging technologies and platforms. Server performance measuring features are a key point as our user database grows.

As an engineer, New Relic has been very quick and easy for me to pick up/install/use. It has been less easy for some of the less technical-minded folks in our organization and their UI still is inconsistent multiple years after refactoring their platform to be New Relic One.

There are times I feel that the initial support is lacking. And in some cases the automated responses of not hearing anything are annoying if the reason why there has been no movement is because we are still waiting to hear back from NR support. So, i think they should loose the automation as it can seem disingenuous

The documentation was clear and concise; the only issue we ran into was custom application naming. Due to HTTPD mod_fcgid and the need for the application name to be set in php.ini (not in .htaccess or the virtual host directive) ... we had issues setting this up.

Actually, we went from Auvik to LogicMonitor, Auvik is like playing with Tinker Toys compared to LogicMonitor. We moved from Auvik to LogicMonitor for a bunch of reasons, pricing was among them. Auvik charges extra for Netflow monitoring where LogicMonitor has is included. If you want anything more than basic ping monitoring in Auvik you have to do an SNMP walk on every device that you are monitoring and then write to create custom OID's to monitor for what should be simple out of the box monitoring, such as Cisco Health or Jitter/Latency.

New Relic has a lot of benefits comparing to other solutions. The main one is usability, compared to other solutions on the market, the interface and usability beats everything else and without good user experience, the user tends to ignore the solution.Great APM integration, easy and simple, which our developing teams love. And Synthetics is way ahead of anything out there, very simple and robust solution that gives us a lot of resources.

- I can't speak to this specifically as I'm just an end user, so I'll speak in terms of the impact on our team. We've used New Relic to monitor a new page we're still in the process of fully rolling out.
- It allows us to keep an eye on our overall page performance (several different metrics), JavaScript error rate, and other custom logging to make sure the new page is not having any significant downturns in these areas.
- By comparing these stats to the previous version of the page, we can feel confident in continuing to roll out the new page, and get early warning signs if something goes wrong.
- Our high priority alerts are tied in to OpsGenie so we get custom notifications off hours.
