Catchpoint is an Internet Performance Monitoring (IPM) and Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) platform designed to provide visibility into the entire "Internet Stack"—from local user devices to global network infrastructure. Following its acquisition by LogicMonitor in December 2025, the platform is being integrated as a core component of the LM Envision observability suite to bridge the gap between internal infrastructure health and external user experience.

First thing we can have the enterprise nodes so that we can get real insights form the Catchpoint before customers. Also Root cause analysis with detailed report and troubleshooting. We can create custom dashboards and we can visualize thing and able to find the issue while …
Catchpoint is mimicing human to test by the steps. It is very different. It can see each step's performance. In Dynatrace I have used, it is more like backend monitoring, it won't be able to let you design based on your use case.
DataDog is good, but more expensive. New Relic is good but does not provide the same features as Catchpoint does. Checkly is good, but Catchpoint offers different frameworks to create synthetic tests, which is preferable to my engineering team.
Catchpoint stood out for its synthetic monitoring depth, real user insights, and internet/network performance monitoring, making it ideal for businesses reliant on global digital services.
Compare Catchpoint with the side score, Catchpoint gives us some more feasibility regarding monetary as point provides both agent based and agent less monitoring, but side to provide us some agent with monetary, so that’s the major difference between both these tools. Also …
Catchpoint is great for Synthetic monitoring, alerting, general internet reporting, and fully understanding all types of data around edge services. They don't do a lot of internal tracing or application monitoring right now, but we have leveraged their Enterprise servers within …
Smart Bear Foglight Dynatrace CEM Catchpoint: I have used many synthetic monitoring products. Honestly, there are no big differences in features among all the products listed above or that I have used before. Probably, price and support might play big roles in selecting the …
In my opinion Catchpoint has not lost focus on synthetics like Dynatrace has. Catchpoint is increasing investment in its core monitoring network, while Dynatrace has shut down its backbone monitoring network.
I feel Catchpoint's synthetic monitoring stacks up against them all and I personally feel more comfortable in creating our observability in Catchpoint. They have a detailed documentation for each keyword you come across in their portal that really helps a lot. And ofcourse, the …
Catchpoint as a product provides comprehensive tools to help orchestrate real-world synthetic monitoring capabilities. Coding & payload development language easy to use and manage. The user management features could use some additional features to help make managing user & …
New relic was mostly like readonly dashboard and restricted how we slice and dice the data presented to us. Ability to drill down was seriously limited.
Dynatrace UI seems better compared to splunk also DT gives better flexibility in terms of plans and costs. For logging monitoring we are using splunk and splunk is better for that purpose. But hosts and server monitoring and alerting perspective Dynatrace is better. Dynatrace …
Dynatrace gives the overall picture of the application usage and performance by default with minimal configurations whereas in Datadog a lot of manual intervention is required to analyze the application performance and troubleshooting the issues. Dynatrace is user-friendly when …
Dynatrace has three key points: ease of deployment, ease of access and a very low learning curve. Also the info provided by the DT agents are easy to understand and relate to root cause. Also the user interface is very simple and can be configured/shared to provide the data to …
We selected Dynatrace because it is much more modern and depends on AI, on auto-discovery, and other features, making it really a next-gen monitoring solution. It is not easy to on-board to Dynatrace, as it has an extremely steep learning curve. It is also possible that other …
Some of these tools we use alongside Dynatrace, and others we chose Dynatrace over. Since Ruby is not a Dynatrace supported language, we use New Relic to monitor those applications. We are an AWS shop so naturally, we use CloudWatch metrics for things like auto-scaling where it …
I have used a plethora of Application Performance Management (APM) tools, all have their niche. Dynatrace provides the best-in-class experience for support, operations, and platform engineering teams. In addition, access for my Enterprise Development teams has been critical. …
BMC was only a basic APM with not much detail or drilling into the issue. It only showed there was a problem with the host. Before Dynatrace, to troubleshoot an issue we had to log into different consoles for different applications and review logs. Now with a quick visual and a …
The Dynatrace product was much more feature-rich than New Relic. We went through multiple proofs of concepts with each vendor using our actual system. We found that both did some things the same but in other areas, the Dynatrace product was much better. There was a black box …
Dynatrace is much more expensive than Pingdom, but it does a better job of doing synthetic monitors and the credential store is much better. When it comes to availability it does a better job of creating of synthetic monitors and it can create a credential store which is a big …
I have not evaluated any other monitoring products. Our company has evaluated other products that have not stacked up against Dynatrace. Dynatrace has deeper monitoring than others and provides excellent alerting capabilities. Dynatrace was selected for those features as well …
Dynatrace provides the best insights into our environment from end to end. It provides user sessions throughout the application so, we can see exactly what users are doing and potentially not only fix problems but provide improvements before any issues arise. There is no …
Simple to use and easy to understand. Almost all features are GUI based which are good in comparison to others softwares like ConnectWise RMM. In comparison to that using groovy and other scripts along with standard features is the best thing you will find. Overall it's …
Proactive Website and API performance testing, Synthetic monitoring, and third-party integration are where Catchpoint is best suited. Catchpoint is less appropriate in Deep Application Performance monitoring, debugging complex user journeys in real-time, Small businesses, and Mobile app performance monitoring. These are the scenarios where I find Catchpoint is well-suited and scenarios where it is less appropriate.
Dynatrace is well suited to a number of tasks. It is important to determine who the end users are and gather good information to tailor their experience accordingly. For instance, business/marketing should not have access to some of the more technical data, and business metrics can be a distraction for IT operations personnel.
It's well suited in case of asset management along with monitoring of hardware and softwares. Performance monitoring for Middleware platform is another factor of using it but sometimes alerts got malfunctioned in our scenario which cab be due to multiple reasons along with hardware requirements. We got difficulty creating redundant monitors for few of the assets. But overall it's good
Catchpoint Synthetics: We create our synthetic monitoring using catchpoint. Creating the synthetics monitors are easy and requires basic knowledge on selenium and javascript. It allows you to run the test from external(backbone) and internal enterprise nodes. The screenshot and filmstrip feature is an add-on along with various customisations. Once created, It provides a detailed insight of each request that is involved in the application flow which helps us in addressing the issue at the request level.
Catchpoint API Test: This is another kind of test which we have explored in our organisation. This has helped us to maintain the health check of our APIs and also we have utilised it for a variety of our use cases.
Catchpoint Dashboard: This is our one-stop shop for all our monitors. It has multiple widgets that displays various application performance metrics. We use this feature immensely and it is of great value to the business.
Catchpoint UI: It is very user friendly and with basic introduction anyone can just get started with it.
We loved Dynatrace's ability to show the data flow - from the front end points through the back end points straight to the database and various API's. It was advanced in its data visualization. This is useful for debugging - showing when/where the errors are. It can even enable non-technical individuals in the corporation to help debug
Dynatrace has some great highly customizable integration options as well as monitoring. You can configure your layout & integration options to create custom monitoring alerts for your applications performance. Further you can increase the extensibility of using a REST API on your architecture.
Some advanced dev-ops systems are utilizing Kubernetes/docker aswell as Node.JS - Dynatrace was able to log and help understand all of our dev-ops needs. It gave us native alerts based off of deviations from the baseline that we set during initial configuration. These metrics are priceless.
The ability to monitor the Catchpoint nodes with the ability to setup a take a recovery action based on specific criteria
The ability to tell us when we are at X% capacity so that we better plan or budget for increasing the "capacity" of the Catchpoint nodes before we get to an overloaded state. The capacity utilization graph is not a reliable indicator for this metric. How can the capacity utilization rate get above 100%, it does not make sense
Dynatrace does not monitor easily on a C-based application.
The way DPGR is addressed by Dynatrace is not very complete, and not clear. One thing is to mask the IP and request attributes but is not enough, the replay session feature is great but raises serious questions about user tracking.
It’s a good solution, which I am using for many different reasons and it demonstrates enough potential to allow me to detect internet routing issues, ISP issues, regional outages before they impact my solutions, giving me the tools that I need to provide the best service that I can to my clients.
We have got tremendous support and response from the dynatrace support team as well as the larger community. We still have issues like the lack of role based administration, but we are told that it may be coming in a future release. The team is very supportive and has assisted us in several tough situations.
It's hard to find the functionalities that I am looking for in the application. Even if I did something in the past, after a time I have to re-learn again where the functionalities are. This is a powerful tool, but not user-friendly. Texts in the buttons and menus are not always meaningful or easily comprehensible.
Dynatrace is great to use once you understand how to use it correctly and get used to the layout of it. While I do not actively use it every day, whenever I do use it, I do have to get refamiliarized with it. However, once you have your dashboards setup correctly with the data that you want to see when you first login to Dynatrace, it's amazing.
The customer support is fantastic as they keep you updated and follow up even though we may not even follow up. Make sure they send a communication so that we remain updated. They value engineers who will get on a call with you to understand any requirement we have on any test, and they bring in the best developers on call.
I wish I could have given the ten points but based on my experience in past I am reducing by two points as the penalty. But I am sure that it will have improved in the past few months. They need some improvement on ticket handling. Overall I appreciate some of the support folks who responded quickly and also were ready to jump on the Webex and get the problem understood to fix it.
Smart Bear Foglight Dynatrace CEM Catchpoint: I have used many synthetic monitoring products. Honestly, there are no big differences in features among all the products listed above or that I have used before. Probably, price and support might play big roles in selecting the products. I do not know the prices of these products.
Like I mentioned earlier, Dynatrace is a great tool but comes with a heavy price tag. On the other hand, Foglight offers a slightly lower level of expertise in application monitoring but fulfils almost all the requirements you would commonly have. The only major feature lacking in Foglight is the predictive monitoring feature. If you are an SME struggling with budgets, then predictive monitoring is something you can certainly live without.
Simple to use and easy to understand. Almost all features are GUI based which are good in comparison to others softwares like ConnectWise RMM. In comparison to that using groovy and other scripts along with standard features is the best thing you will find. Overall it's unique experience to use this.
Catchpoint points based licensing for public hosted nodes is complicated and unpredictable in points required.
Catchpoint lacks AI powered anomaly detection and automated remediation. This gap means more manual triage and slower MTTR during incidents.
The advanced 360 degree blackbox monitoring is enabling us to monitor the APIs, UI and proactively gain insights into the application behavior and performance before customer is impacted.
