IFS is a low-code / no-code approach to IFS solution suite, supporting various industries including aerospace & defense, construction, energy & utilities, and manufacturing with ERP, EAM and field service management functionality. IFS Cloud can be run as a service from IFS, or in a location of choice including on-premise as a containerized application.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using it to store our vendors, sites, incidents, and information related to HR as well. The problem we were facing before was the ability to integrate with other systems together. Currently we are integrating it with Boomi, Azure Blobs, and Snowflake. We are picking data stored in the IFS Cloud and build reports out of it. We send data to clients on a regular basis so that they can business decisions on top of it.

Pros

  • Store data from different domains
  • Integrates efficiently with other systems
  • Easy to migrate data from different systems. Provides good API Documentation.

Cons

  • We need a table or view where we can correlate fields available in the UI and at the backend like in API responses.
  • Exporting a table is quite confusing sometimes as there is an option of selecting fields you want to extract but even though we select the fields it comes with other fields as well.

<div>We are using the IFS Cloud in our orgnization to handle HR information.</div><div>We also use the the dashboard to get some of the buisness insights in one place. </div><div>The IFS Cloud platform is also useful for us to store Vendor information, sites, etc, details easily in a single stop shope fashion.</div>

Pros

  • IFS cloud has good documentation
  • User interface is easy to use / understand.
  • Its like a centralised repository, where we get all the relevant data such as HR, Vendors, etc.

Cons

  • Data is stored in projections, so finding the required details is time consuming.
  • Sometimes the mapping between mapping of UI fields and actual backend is broken / does not work.

Return on Investment

  • I am not aware about ROI by using this tool, as the details are only available to higher reps in our orgnization.

I am using IFS Cloud in my organization to consult and support the industrial companies and their who use IFS Cloud as their Asset Management solution. To implement their project-based manufacturing business process, certain modules in IFS Cloud were implemented, and mapped with the processes. The use case mainly was the manufacturing, procurement, selling and maintaining of asset-type products.

Pros

  • Integration with other third-party application is easy and reliable
  • Product documentation is easy to follow for the new users
  • Web-based product

Cons

  • Rich look of user experience of the web-based interface
  • Some areas like HR and Payroll are not fully-suited within the solution
  • Error and issue handling/debugging is difficult

Return on Investment

  • Reduced the time taken for the users to prepare and generate reports since most are automatic with IFS Cloud
