  • This solution has allowed reduction of hardware costs. Virtualization is by far much less expensive than onsite platforms.
  • Buying and configuring systems is costly in terms of initial investment and specialized staff. Azure minimizes those costs.
  • Azure has created a positive impact on our business objectives in the sense that it has allowed system integrations to become available in a quicker time frame than typically expected.

  • It has high tenacity and also can be customized to meet the future state objectives of the organization.
  • Data Security is still a grey area and needs some meticulous considerations.
  • Great to run the non production workloads.

  • I still expect more platform independency from Azure. Also more support for Linux machines. I would also love to see SAAS in Azure. Also, I think pricing is high.
  • Overall, they provide a good IAAS product and also are leveraging their SQL Server and other products in Azure as well...so it's a nice solution all-in-all. I also feel like they don't have a ton of extraneous services like AWS does, so they are filtering a bit of the noise out.

  • Azure has integrated Active Directory service. Most of the clients has Active directory implementation for access and user management over the cloud. Azure single sign in experience is one of the secured services which secures mission critical data providing secure access. This two services provides high ROI to organizations.
  • In terms of infrastructure Azure offers an extended scope via the virtual machines. Organization can get hold of number of CPU's, RAM, and even specific operation systems. This gives organization capability of holding their specific server configuration.

  • This is still a bit tough to quantify.
  • We have thoughts on how to do this, but generally, it relates to switching out of on-premises infrastructure or applications and the license/hardware cost savings.
  • The cost of support and integration with existing system integrators is significant and difficult to quantify. This has taken us at least a few months to wrap our heads around it and there are likely to be more issues in the future.

Journey with Azure

  • Unlike other vendors, the Microsoft Azure cloud offers high availability and redundancy in data centers on a global scale. Because of this, Azure can offer a service level agreement, or SLA, of 99.95% (approximately 4.38 hours of downtime per year), something that most businesses cannot achieve.
  • It’s imperative to keep IT budgets in mind when choosing a cloud provider, which is why the Microsoft Azure platform is so attractive to many organizations. Azure’s pay-as-you-go pricing allows SMBs to better manage their IT budgets, purchasing only as much as they need. Additionally, the cloud environment allows businesses to launch both customer applications and internal apps in the cloud, which saves on infrastructure costs while reducing the hardware and maintenance burdens on in-house IT management.
  • Scalability is the backbone of any good cloud provider, and Azure is no different. For example, consider the following: a firm runs SQL reports daily for 28 out of 30 days of the month, using minimal compute power. On the last two days of the month, there is an increase in report activity, requiring more compute power. Microsoft Azure makes it easy to scale compute power up or down with nothing more than the click of a button. With this scalability structure, businesses have the flexibility to pay for only what they use.

  • The Azure platform in some cases has had a bad ROI relative to other hosting providers we have utilized. For larger installations and customers Azure makes much more sense with a 20% increase in affordability over smaller platforms.

  • Consistent user experience irrespective of traffic condition means lots of happy customer.
  • 0 downtime for an application is huge plus fro any business.
  • Since it's the same c# and .net language, there is hardly any learning curve and hence can utilize the same skill set.

  • Some features are best suited to smaller/newer companies that may not have incumbent tooling as often the older toolsets are more complete.
  • The ability to roll out our software product in datacenters around the world via the running of a few scripts is amazing and has brought real value.
  • For government clouds, MS will work with companies to certify the product. There is a lot of overhead and domain knowledge required for this, so that was great.

  • Faster deployments. no more hassle of figuring out pre-reqs etc.
  • Ease of use. People are already very familiar with Microsoft products, making solutions up in the cloud is just the next step.
  • Flexibile. I can easily just grant user access to specific products and then let them manage their own dev/test environment.

  • Azure has allowed us to offer cloud hosting to a number of clients where a shared hosting environment is inadequate.
  • Instead of spending time working with another hosting company, we've been able to increase our profits with self-maintained cloud services from Azure.

  • Not having to worry about backups.
  • The Azure management portal allows the customer to do things like bring up new servers, control how many servers are running.
