Overall Satisfaction with ADP Workforce Now

We use ADP with multi-company codes for all of our payroll and HR needs. We use it to produce our weekly temp staffing and production reports.
  • Multi-level approval process for employee record changes.
  • Approvals for time-off requests.
  • When you switch employees between company codes.
  • Calculating state ordered medical & child support orders at the same time with low income. It does well on just child support but will not take the state ordered medical into account.
  • It allows the supervisor/managers to be able to spend less time tracking attendance & doing payroll.
ADP is a good product for medium to large companies because it can do more things than the smaller payroll companies, and it is these extra items that the larger companies need. Some of the small companies may be able to do some things better but they don't have all of the options that ADP does and they can't handle the volume of employees that ADP can.
  • Attendance Counts
  • Clear Company
The interface with Attendance Counts was great and went very smoothly. We are just finishing the set up with Clear Company and the interface isn't going as smoothly. We have multi-level approval in our new hire template and the clear to ADP interface from the market place doesn't handle the multi-lever new hire template at all. We are having to do a workaround to make it work.
Paylocity is a good little payroll system for companies under 250 employees. When you get over 250 employees and want to fully utilize their system, then Paylocity starts falling short of ADP very quickly.
It works very well with the approval processes but works very, very poorly when switching employees between company codes. The 'another position' feature should ask to take you through a 'new hire' template of your choice. The standard fields in the 'another position' aren't the same fields that we have in our custom new hire template and thus we miss setting up fields when we have to switch employees between company codes. Also when you do this, the old employee position always stays as a 'terminated' employee on all reports and it messes with turn over numbers.

Using ADP Workforce Now

750 - all of our hourly workers use ADP time clocks and our supervisors/manager review their time weekly.
1 - i'm our ADP super user and i do all maintenance and training.
  • payroll
  • time keeping
  • list of employees
  • employee list for updating our security system
  • open to new ideas
i have used ADP for almost 30 years and for mid to large size companies - it is the best option for payroll and employee tracking.

Evaluating ADP Workforce Now and Competitors

Yes - paylocity
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
paylocity is better than ADP for small companies but we have out grown paylocity and moved to ADP.
when we transitioned to ADP at the end of 2016, your implementation could have been much better. i knew more about ADP then some of them. they caused errors in our data that wasn't found for 2 years.

ADP Workforce Now Implementation

our payroll implementation person didn't know what he was doing nor what our codes meant and thus he caused an error that was found 2 years later that caused us to have to refile 2 years of w-2s. the project leader couldn't answer our questions, she always had to foward them. she was more concerned with getting the process done instead of getting it done 'correctly'. we never got our GL interface module set up and we are still not using it. i will be the person who sets it up! we implemented end of 2016 for 1/1/2017 effective.
  • they didn't follow some of our requests on setting up codes
  • they didn't understand our policies when setting them up
  • our project leader was just that - she didn't know how to do any of the setup herself

ADP Workforce Now Support

the account manager(s) are great, it is the general support staff that could use more training. as said before, at times i know more about your system than they do.
ProsCons
None
Poor followup
Less knowledgeable
Problems left unsolved
Not kept informed
Escalation required
Need to explain problems multiple times
No - premium support should be part of the package. i shouldn't know more about your software than some of you support team. this is more the average support worker and not my account manager. there are times when i answer my question before they do. all i needed to do was walk through the problem and i find the answer and they are still trying to catch up with me. there are also times when i tell the support person exactly what needs to be done and they don't be leave me but we end up with exactly what i told them in the end. this is usually on the time and attendance side.
Yes - multiple times and at least once they couldn't figure out the cause. i'm a programmer, thus if i can replicate the error over and over - it is a bug.
when you cancel one day of a multiple day time off request - the cancelled day is not removed from the timecard. the support person showed me how to work with the settings so i can delete the time off day without calling support each time it happens. thus making more self sufficient.

Using ADP Workforce Now

overall it is good but if you are not use to using a computer or app then (which some of employees are not use to doing) then it can be difficult. we are trucking and warehousing and not everyone in those fields are computer savvy.
ProsCons
Like to use
Technical support not required
Feel confident using
None
  • once set up correctly - the approval process for requests works great
  • switching employees between company codes
Yes - our employees use the app to view their pay statements, request time off, and our supervisor/manager approve timecards with the app. we are planning on using the app during our next open enrollment for benefits.
