Overall Satisfaction with Basecamp
We used Basecamp as the project management software of choice from a vendor tasked with the migration/development of our new website. All communication was to be funneled through the app along with any files and assets needed. To my knowledge, no one else on campus is using it. We were using it as a PM tool with a third-party vendor.
- Easy to get started
- easy to add/onboard team members
- web/mobile access
- Horrible user experience
- Messy chat threads
- Was hard to find what the vendor was referencing at times--was the file I need in the messy thread, the files tab, or somewhere else?
- We had several issues with finding comments and files. Seemed like we ended up scheduling more meetings to address issues where maybe they could have been resolved in Basecamp somehow.
- I feel the software probably got in the way more than it helped. Could be how the vendor implemented it but it was not intuitive for our team.
Basecamp is probably my least favorite. As a project manager, I'm always auditing our workflow and processes, so I try to run at least trials of project management software to get a feel for if they would help us do things more efficiently. I struggled the most with Basecamp.
