Overall Satisfaction with ClickUp
I love ClickUp - it's our primary tool for game production. It's like Jira + Monday + Asana + Microsoft project all in one. Add to that easy-to-use documentation, wiki, and there's no need to have extra software like a guru, for example. I was somewhat skeptical at first, but now I can see why ClickUp is the best tool available for everyone. It's simple, colorful, organized, and it's stable. We have everything scrum requires transparency, inspection, and adaptation.
Pros
- Task management
- Transparency
- Inspection
- Scrum
- Agile game development
- Kanban
- Documentation
Cons
- Stability
- Standalone app performance
- Memory Usage
- Dealing with huge backlogs (10k+ tasks)
- Spaces
- Integrations
- Custom Fields
- Gantt Chart
- Timeline
- Great roadmaps, clear, transparent
- Task estimation
- Transparency
- Bad - somewhat unstable
One really underlooked feature is that you can chat with other people inside the comments section in an asynchronous way - it actually feels like a chat tool.
Collaboration happens: discussions inside tasks' comments, technical documentation reviews, using it as the go-to tool for scrum rites. It feels like a "cuter" version of Jira without lacking any of the features that makes it really robust.

It's really simple. We have a list for our epics just like in other production tools. If you click on that epic (big feature like gameplay system) you can see the granular tasks and add more tasks if needed. There are lots of lists, filters and automations so you can decide where to put the work that needs to be done in a really streamlined in simple way.
Documentation is almost as good as guru - guru is faster to search within. Jira is more stable, but it's a lot more clunky, so ClickUp is the easiest to use tool for this specific reason. Monday is worse in every single aspect. The only downside for ClickUp is that it could be cheaper, so more people could use it.

Evaluating ClickUp and Competitors
Yes - It replaced Jira. The reason is really simple: as we work with games, jira always felt like a huge untamable monster with an ugly interface. Clickup, while sometimes being a bit less reliable, feel cute, polished and friendly - which are things that people in game development care a lot about, it feels really easy and direct to use it.
- Ease of Use
Ease of use is by far the most important factor. To be 500% honest, Jira would be better than ClickUp in almost everyway if it was more user friendly. But it is not. Therefore, ClickUp feels VERY easy to use for the developers, even though it takes a lote more effort for the producers/scrum masters to have it on a go-to state.
I wouldn't change anything to be honest. ClickUp is the go-to software for us regarding task management and project management for game development. It takes a bit of effort to have it properly configured but once it's really it feels silky smooth to use - everything is straightforward. It's literally 2-3 clicks to create a task, there are nice custom icons, there are colors, everything feels easy to use/read and very user (developer) friendly.
