Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
I use Paylocity every day to perform my work. From accessing employee files to onboarding new hires, enrolling employees in benefits I'm constantly in the system and using Paylocity instead of paper files or a manual system. While I do not oversee or run the payroll process, I also am an end user, so I am clocking in and out, submitting expense reports, and approving timecards for my team so payroll can ensure a timely payroll run.
Pros
- It's not paper
- The app is nice
Cons
- Lots of multiple reentry as the systems/modules do not talk to each other as they should.
- Benefits admin is a joke. Every enrollment has been messed up, rules broken, file feeds corrupted, rates changed incorrectly. It is a circus.
- Reporting is horrible. If I make a report it is mine. I can share it but that shared report is now static. That person has to use my share as a template to rebuild it. They cannot edit my shared.
- There is no report I can pull on who PCTY has e-verified for me or the outcome of that case. This is something we're audited on regularly and we've asked for that.
- The system is clunky for finding data. Why on the SUMMARY page for a terminated employee does it not show rehire status? Why do I have to go all the way to the Status and History tab to find that information?
- It's better than paper.
- Increased staff time due to duplicate entries.
- Liability issues due to staff being texted on personal cell phones when I9s are completed even after we escalated the issue to support.
- No confidence in the data within the system.
I feel like there may be automations for Payroll but for HR there is very little automation. Paylocity is a very antiquated system and is lagging behind the competition.
We do not use these tools as we have an intranet for them. Paylocity's performance module was so bad we had to bundle it with another vendor and it included a survey module as well.
I am actively vetting other systems. I'm looking for a system with a unified database, position seat management, and more robust reporting. While the all other systems I mentioned don't meet all these requirements, some do. What it has shown, is that Paylocity is lagging behind the market, and either they don't care, or are unaware. Anytime we've brought an issue up to our representatives, we've been told "The system is operating as it should." This is disheartening as a customer, especially when some of the issues are major benefit issues impacting people's medical coverage.

Yes - It's about a 70% useable interface. You can do most things. However, we're a fully remote organization and everyone is on their phone all day. I want a system that they can do everything on the phone and the desktop version is almost the after thought.
