I think Act-On would work equally well for small to large companies. If you are less confident or experienced in automation and funneling, Act-On genuinely invests in the expertise to guide and support you so you can be continually learning and developing your skills and application for the platform. You never feel you are in the deep end

I would give Maropost an 8. The only reason it's not a 10 is because we are so new to the product, I'd like to take this survey again in a year. From what I have seen I think that Maropost will have done a good job of growing with us

Pros

  • Behaviour Analysis. Anachron allows me to monitor all user behaviour on our websites, landing pages, emails webinars and other items. This knowledge, even the anonymous company data around who is on our sites and what they are doing is invaluable.
  • Email marketing and list management. Act-On's list management and email capabilities compare very favourably with some of the higher end automation tools I've used in the past. Although it has its quirks, it stands up strong against its biggest competitors in this regard.
  • Sales Support. The Act-On Anywhere Chrome Extension has rapidly become a must have item for our entire sales team. This recent addition to Act-On gives much greater insight into prospect behaviour to sales and most importantly enables the to get access to that information without having to log into another system, It's included right there in their emails and their web browser. The Act-On tab in Salesforce is also of great interest to our sales team.

  • Support was a big issue for us. Our last provider was lacking in this area. My favorite part of Maropost is the on-line chat. I thought it was just a novelty at first - but we use it all the time. Part of that reason is that we are still new - we asked for our work to be checked when we set up something new. Never hurts to have more eyes!
  • Again Support. Our implementation team has been available to us from day one and are still available for our stupid user questions! It's nice to have that back up.
  • Ease of use. We had every member of our team review the possible ESPs. Maropost would not have been chosen if the system had been difficult to navigate. We love how simple it is.
  • Feedback - think something can be better in the Maropost system? Send an email with your suggestion and be amazed when it's implemented a few days or weeks down the road.

Cons

  • Website Prospector. I've used other tools that are far more sophisticated in matching visitors with companies (instead of ISPs, which Prospector does more often than not) and in preserving a visitor's identity throughout their entire process (such as, linking an identity to an anonymous user once that user is identified via a form). I think it is probably heading in the right direction but at this point I think it's the feature that needs the most attention.
  • E-mail Templates. Templates are created through stationery, which while it would be very easy to use for a company sending out multiple identically-designed e-mails, is a bit cumbersome for more design-focused HTML e-mails. I'd love more flexibility with HTML and WYSIWYG HTML editing.

  • We are only 2 months into this product, so we have really just been using the basics. Daily emails, a few tests and we will be testing with personalization soon. We got this product up and running pretty quick. The only complaint I heard from our IT department was an issue transferring our large list. 1.2 million and this was resolved quickly.

I am extremely happy with Act-On's platform and their service. The service for support and account management is one of the best around. I have always received a timely response and have always felt that my account manager or support person owned the problem or request and did everything they could do to solve it or answer any question I may have had.

It's good, but not quite brilliant. Some parts of the interface are still a bit outdated. The product has been evolving very fast, though, and I believe in a few months it will be up there with the best of them, interface wise as well.

Act-On had a lot of resources, and their staff was great at answering any questions I had to make sure we got started on the right foot. Looking back, I would have preferred some additional training sessions since we didn't have any previous experience with Marketing Automation and best practices.

The biggest decision for us was the lower cost for on-boarding. It was also easier to use and didn't have features we didn't need, such as blogs

Maropost had everything we needed and more. We loved that fact that one price covered everything. As we move forward we don't have to go back and purchase modules that we are now ready for. No one wants to go back to management and ask for more money

Return on Investment

  • Able to easily create emails for marketing with great designs and responsive design.
  • Lead scoring gives us a better picture of who are best leads are.
  • Able to easily create landing pages for our website in just minutes, instead of hours and hours manipulating HTML and CSS.

  • Increased efficiency has allowed us to free up our designer for other projects. This is a big plus!
  • I've mentioned customer support already - but I can't tell you how important that is to us. Not waiting days for an answer helps keep things moving forward.
