Act-On is well suited for your business if you have a lot of contacts and are averse to the pay by the contact model of competing marketing automation software. Act-On charges by emails sent, not by how many contacts are in the database, so it makes it a great place to store everything, even if you aren't engaging with some of those contacts

  • Folder structure for list management and marketing assets/campaigns are easy to use. It was easy to keep things organized.
  • Email testing was accurate and straightforward.
  • Existing templates to build landing page and emails from were responsive out of the box.

  • They can greatly improve how you are able to place photos in emails. The current way is very archaic and takes a long time to navigate to find your photo. Once your photo is in the email, you cannot crop or adjust the size. This should be upgraded.
  • The A/B testing or dynamic emails needs to be worked on. You can not currently test emails before placing them in a series to go to contacts, the testing route is long and usually ends up in frustration. There needs to be a way to test dynamic emails so that you can ensure success before sending.

It's good, but not quite brilliant. Some parts of the interface are still a bit outdated. The product has been evolving very fast, though, and I believe in a few months it will be up there with the best of them, interface wise as well.

Act-On had a lot of resources, and their staff was great at answering any questions I had to make sure we got started on the right foot. Looking back, I would have preferred some additional training sessions since we didn't have any previous experience with Marketing Automation and best practices.

Act-On does most everything that Marketo and HubSpot can and Act-On does some of them better and some of them worse. I've outlined the strengths and weaknesses of Act-On already. I am familiar with Marketo and HubSpot but not familiar enough with them to create a matrix type of comparison. Some of the differences are just different, not better or worse. For example, Marketo throws all the contacts into a master list of sorts and segments are created via queries. Act-On has user-created lists and segments built off each list.

  • Consistently positive ROI: very specific ROI tracking and successful campaign tracking across various mediums: email, website, etc...
  • Negative: Difficult on-boarding, sometimes seems like UI is outdated, so training first time was quite difficult.
  • Negative: Quite expensive compared to other similar solutions
