As I have only used it in one business I can't say too much how relevant it would be for other types of business, eg Retail or Manufacturing. It doesn't appear to be specifically set up for ecommerce.

We wholesale products and it works well for that kind of business model.

Reporting is leaps and bounds above Quickbooks. Additionally, having the segregation of duties and being able to define what each user is able to access is incredibly helpful.

Pros

  • Generic Inquiries are a very easy way to create custom reports.
  • The automation schedules are useful, we use these for confirming of shipments, creating invoices and emailing them. Reduces workload.
  • Open for integration with other software. We find the ease of connection to MS PowerBI very useful.

Cons

  • The CRM module is very basic.
  • There is no supplier remittance function.
  • The API is basic, our ecommerce integration has had to be built nearly from scratch.

  • They are updating their fixed asset module, but are not 100% there yet.
  • Not that this is an area for improvement, but choosing your implementation team is critical to the success of the installation. Setup of dimensions incorrectly will cause some frustration and potentially cause some instances to be modified late in the implementation. Use the Intacct corporate in-house team or a VAR that has done dozens of Intacct installs - the additional cost is well worth it.

The training is designed for implementing intacct as opposed to utilizing intacct. I think that both are necessary to learn, but wish there was continued training for using it once Intacct is in place for the users.

Alternatives Considered

NetSuite is much more expensive and is difficult to customise or integrate.
SAP is a more complex and powerful system, but several times more expensive to implement and run.

Select Sage Intacct because it is easier to use, understand and understand, because it offers better results reports and ideal dashboards for decision making.
