Adobe Acrobat DC

Adobe Acrobat DC is necessary and well suited for professionals who receive multiple PDFs from various sources, and need a program to view those. Depending on the version, the option to redact info and covert non-PDFs to PDFs is also very necessary. Less appropriate situations for needing this program would be graphic designers, as photoshop would have similar capabilities. having the capabilities of photoshop as an expectation and then opening up adobe acrobat usually leads to disappointment at Adobe's limitations.

Adobe eSign has worked for every contract our company has issued for the past 3 years. From simple one signature consulting agreements, to multiple page, multiple signer partnership agreements and MNDAs, we find the program meets all of our needs. Clients receiving our contracts rarely ever have any trouble viewing, downloading and signing the document. We have not found an instance for which eSign has not worked.

Pros

Adobe Acrobat DC

  • Can take ANY PDF and edit it in just a few clicks.
  • Can embed live links, easily.
  • Can scan ANY image, and edit it easily and quickly.
  • We run digital marketing campaigns where we take our eBook, Drawing On Brilliance and customize it to each brand we are working with. The eBook we use is one-of-a-kind, with a well-proven 100% customer engagement rate so being able to include each brand sponsors logo means a viral, lifetime of end customer exposure is invaluable - ROI for life.
  • Apple's decision to not allow live links in their pdf docs anymore, drove many of us to Adobe. Live links are critically important in marketing docs as they give the end-user the opportunity to read what they value, and deeper-dive as they feel the need to. We also can use these live links in our data analytics when we measure depth of engagement. That's ROI for our customers, ROI for us as we then adapt quickly to that digital feedback (more of what works, less of what does not etc...)
  • This capability opens all kinds of new opportunities for us. Our creative team is always scouting new sources of inspirational ideas. They were always scanning with their mobile devices. We just started to exploit this capability now that we have Adobe Acrobat DC and it's super easy to use. We scan as we always have, upload it to Adobe and edit away - as if we had created the original image ourselves. We're able to take the original scan and create an endless stream of new ways to turn it into what will engage our customers and their end-users too.

Cons

Adobe Acrobat DC

  • The colour scheme for GUI could do with being darker.
  • For those used to the workflow of Acrobat 11, it is significantly different and takes quite a while to figure out.
  • Whilst creating a pdf from the MS Office or Adobe CC suites is very simple - converting a pdf into those formats has a lot of room for improvement.

  • NEED AN ANDROID APP!
  • Text wrapping function on the forms so that wording does not go off the contract

This would be a 9 or 10 except towards the end of 2012, there were several outages, one that was significant. EchoSign has taken steps to rectify this but they really should have handled both the outage and the subsequent communication better

Overall, Adobe Acrobat DC provides an easy user interface. The program can take some time to get used to, just like most programming you use, but once the software is understood it is very easy for users to use. Compared to many programs this is very easy for people to use.

I would have rated this a 9 or greater had they not had had such critical outages. They have taken steps to resolve this so I may come in and revise this

They have improved this in the latter half of 2012 adding more online help which they didn't have previously. With regards to the support by a person, sometimes answers seem delayed but again this has improved in the latter half of 2012. 2013 Update:Support has improved over the last year as has the downtime however there still is some downtime; more than there should be if they have full data center redundancy, which they should but I don't know if they do. I still don't have access to what appears to be a support portal however that is likely due to my support level

The best types of training are well integrated into the product and Echosign does this well. As mentioned earlier in my review - there are some areas of functionality that can be difficult to understand ("only I sign") for the novice user.Other areas such as macro usage, bulk signature and so on were easily learned and understood via the online tools.

We opted not to use the Salesforce.com integration however that was our internal business decision and it was the wrong one but that was our issue, not the vendor. Whether you implement using just the web interface or both the web interface and the Salesforce.com integration, they are both easily done

Alternatives Considered

Adobe Acrobat DC

We made the choice of Adobe Reader DC because this is the ideal tool to create, edit and protect PDF files. It can be used in major operating systems, such as Linux, OS X Mac, and Windows without modifying the appearance or structure of the original document and without losing the format when sending to other users. In addition, it offers all its functionalities in mobile applications.

Our original idea was to edit our forms using Adobe Acrobat DC to make them fillable with text, but they (the clients) would still have to save, download, and email them back to us, and DocuSign had such an user-unfriendly layout and design, it was very slow and just overall not a great experience, that Adobe Sign felt so great and easy to use after those two alternatives, and it's easy to track signings and all of it is stored in the cloud, with no need to print the papers, or dig through emails.

Return on Investment

Adobe Acrobat DC

  • The positive impact is that, with this software the security problems are gone so that nobody can modify your documents. The best thing is PDF can generate digital files, which eliminate the use of paper.
  • The negative impact is that sometimes the fonts don't match when you edit on the same line. So it is difficult to maintain same format of document.
  • The positive impact is Adobe Acrobat DC application enables you to create convert, sign, send, and manage PDF documents on any device which is one of the best salient features. It is compatible with different operating systems keeping the original design of the document. You can export and convert PDF files to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. On the other hand, the negative impact is that it requires an internet connection to export files.
