RUN by ADP is perfect, in my opinion, for any size of company. Whether you have 5 employees or 500 employees. I feel that RUN by ADP will meet your needs and help make processing payroll as smooth as possible. Using RUN by ADP is a huge time saver for me. I love how easy it is to add new employees. I work at a company that is experiencing big growth and I am grateful for how easy it is to add new employees. I wish RUN by ADP was more transparent about the cutoff times to process payroll timely. It would be very nice to know what is the latest I could process payroll to have it be processed on time

Namely is especially well-suited for small to mid-sized companies that are looking to shift core HRIS functions under a single platform. Everything works as smoothly as advertised- payroll, benefits, time and attendance, workflows, onboarding. Especially if the employee population is comfortable with social media sites; Namely's landing page functions like an internal Facebook feed.Namely might not be well-suited for companies that have a significant employee population outside of the US . We've had some issues integrating our international employees into the core HRIS and benefits modules.

  • The software platform is incredibly easy to learn and user-friendly.
  • The cost is surprisingly better than other payroll processing platforms, especially considering what is included and the longstanding national reputation of ADP.
  • The simplicity, automation, and available templates and reports are incredibly helpful to our growing organization.

  • The UI is very easy to navigate. Core functions are broken out into logical categories. We've even been able to troubleshoot rather extensively just by using the admin guides. Workflows can be designed so that critical stakeholders are always in the loop in regards to critical changes, such as pay changes.
  • Namely recently adopted a Client Success model that makes it very easy to get in touch with a subject matter expert across every HR discipline that Namely supports. If you're having a payroll issue, you'll get a payroll expert. if you have a configuration issue, you'll get a Namely config guru.
  • Namely has incredible resources for HR professionals. Their Namely Blog and Newsletter provides relevant news and fantastic insights into pressing issues. They also have a client hub that makes it easy to connect with other Namely users to share best practices.
  • Onboarding is amazing! Onboarding modules can be customized to cover all sorts of needs. You even get access to Adobe E-sign, giving you a lot of flexibility when it comes to creating required onboarding forms.

  • One feature that would be useful is a recall option when submitting payroll. An option to redo a payroll within 30 minutes of submitting would be a useful feature that would cut back on the chances of making a mistake.

  • The one piece of the onboarding process that could be automated (right now it's manual in Namely) is the tax forms for new employees and their direct deposit information. Those still have to be completed on paper and submitted manually.
  • The home feed could be a little more interactive, like being able to tag employees in posts, having emails sent to employees when someone's replied to a post, etc etc.

Administrators and employees love Namely. It is very easy to use and streamlined. Employees stay engaged with news feed updates and enjoy all the self service options. The time cards are very easy to access and clocking in and out for non-exempt employees is a breeze. Namely is part of our family.

Overall, Namely is a very user friendly platform, most of the functionality can be learned with out much training or guidance. They have designed it to be modeled similar to other social media sites interface which makes it clean in design and easy to navigate. If you do have someone at your organization that is less tech savvy, one of the most impressive parts of Namely continues to be their client support. They will support you and give guidance in every aspect if its training or just pointing out a feature and how it works

Alternatives Considered

While I still use QuickBooks for other accounting and bookkeeping uses, RUN was a lot more user-friendly when it came to payroll. It was cheaper and I felt that the help/assistance was much better, that if I did run into any issues, I would have an answer very quickly.

We made the switch from ADP to Namely. This saved money and time. The customer service from Namely blew ADP out of the water. Employee complaints and re-training is almost non-existent with Namely. It seemed like a constant task with ADP. The entire company from the lowest level to the highest level uses Namely and loves it.

  • The performance review cycle tool was simply amazing! We're a growing startup, and there was never a standard for performance management here.
