Considered Both Products
Atlassian Jira
Chose Atlassian Jira
Bugzilla would be useful if you don't want to pay for bug tracking but maintenance is a bit painful. We are using Gitlab as our repo, The way Gitlab is progressing, I think We can replace Jira with that.
Chose Atlassian Jira
I have used other tools like Trello, FogBugz, Bugzilla, Backlog, etc.

Overall JIRA comes across as a clear winner. Perhaps the only close competitor is Bugzilla since it is open source and has a lot of other features that have been built for it, even if by many different teams.
Chose Atlassian Jira
There are two advantages that Bugzilla has over JIRA:
1. Being open source (read free)
2. Having a feature that few of my users desperately need: clone a issue to multiple projects at once
Chose Atlassian Jira
Trac is as basic as the subversion with which it's often associated in feature set, requires signifiant time and patience to set up much less customize/configure, and is being abandoned by most industry folks. Bugzilla is a classic solution which holds up, but has an interface …
Chose Atlassian Jira
I've used Trello for managing tickets, it's possibly but provides no ability to have backlog features unless you use plug-ins. Plus, once you get a large backlog the page takes a long time to load. Jira is quick and has this all built in.

Redmine is a mess, don't bother. The …
Chose Atlassian Jira
Jira Software is a much more robust solution that offers more features than the alternatives. Since our engineering department is also using BitBucket, it makes the choice easy to go with the whole Atlassian suite.
Chose Atlassian Jira
With easy customization, JIRA was able to scale up to our varying organizational needs. We did not have to buy separate tools for Bug life cycle management, customer support, product delivery, or project management. Nor did we build any other in-house solution. It spans to all …
Chose Atlassian Jira
Flexibility. Our teams use JIRA in many ways and we've found it to be up to the challenge in nearly all cases. I would easily recommend JIRA to a company of the right size and complexity. It just may be overkill for teams that need only light project tracking and to-do lists.
Chose Atlassian Jira
JIRA is the best compromise between customizability and simplicity.
Chose Atlassian Jira
Jira provides the full agile model with a customization path. Moving from road-testing to driving it on the highway is a short learning curve. VersionOne is more complex.
Chose Atlassian Jira
JIRA is a more refined product with a better user experience and better tools to record and track data.
Chose Atlassian Jira
JIRA has the flexibility of being on the cloud and is much more user friendly than other cloud based tracking software used.
Bugzilla
Chose Bugzilla
Bugzilla had many of the same common features necessary for bug tracking. However, the ease of use that JIRA provides while abroad is essential for many companies, and is the ultimate decision maker for those establishments. Additionally, while bugzilla includes a time setting …
Chose Bugzilla
We migrated away from the whole suite of Rational tools because of their massive complexity around administration and inflexibility regarding workflows. In addition, the suite was insanely expensive, and users hated the usability of the tools. We evaluated, and liked JIRA, but …
Chose Bugzilla

Bugzilla is very easy to use, very intuitive, and user friendly! For agile projects, the Kanban is very useful and you can drag and drop the defect to change his state. I work 10 times faster with Bugzilla.

Chose Bugzilla
Bugzilla is affordable and easier to use by newly forming team or group in our organization. As the team grows bigger we still continued to use Bugzilla as it is comfortable to use. We tried JIRA tool for bugtracking but it was expensive when compared to Bugzilla so switched …
Chose Bugzilla
JIRA from Atlassian, Quality Center from HP, TRAC were a few other tools that we had considered. The core features are present in almost all the competing tools. Bugzilla may not have a user interface as good as other tools, but serves the purpose very well as a bug tracking …
Chose Bugzilla
For most bug tracking systems, it stacks up pretty well considering the cost (it's free). But for a little investment, you can license JIRA which is far superior.
Chose Bugzilla
JIRA is a strong competitor. Since our product and team was small, we went for BugZilla instead of JIRA!

Atlassian
Jira facilitates software development, bug tracking, and sprints. It's ideal for structured workflows, issue management, and customer communication. However, more straightforward tools might be more efficient for highly creative, unstructured tasks or tiny, agile teams with quick visual overviews. Jira's complexity can be overkill for basic task lists.

Buzilla is easy to use and provides basic functionality to use as a bug tracking tool. If big size attachments are allowed it would have been great. Also with Bugzilla home->Test management area is improved by allowing multiple sections it would be awesome!

Pros
Atlassian
  • Integration of tools like Bitbucket, Github, etc., has made it easier to track the code changes, pull requests, and branches linked to the respective ticket.
  • The detailed tracking system in JIRA has helped the teams prioritize and understand the project tasks and issues.
  • JIRA's project tracking board helps you keep track of the project, its flow, and expectations in a structured format.

Cons
Atlassian
  • The interface is not intuitive to learn for new users
  • JQL is similarly challenging for newbies
  • It's possible to accidentally move issues from one sprint to another without realizing your mistake
  • Certain issue attributes aren't available in certain view (e.g. story points from the epic overview)

  • Cloud Based. I'd like to see bugzilla be cloud based. The company I currently work with made a final decision to change db's for this specific reason. Due to the frequency of travel in this company, they need access to bugzilla from differing national / international locations.
  • Larger File Attachments. I believe the limit of a bugzilla content upload is 4 megabytes. For many of our video'd issues, this file size is simply impractical without the additional effort exertion on video compressor applications.

This is because Jira Software generates a huge profit for an affordable price. Having a tool that makes team management transparent and effective is very valuable.
In addition, the renewal of Jira Software and all Atlassian tools is predictable and clear, as the prices are published on the Atlassian website and there is no pyramid of intermediaries.

For future projects I will look at something that is hosted in the cloud that I don't have to manage. I would also like something that has a more modern feel to allow my customers to use it as well as my employees.

Usability
Atlassian
The interface is simple and easy to use if you have some experience with it. Configuration is also logical most of the time. However, less experienced users tend to find themselves lost in some tasks - usually complex project configuration- but sometimes simple things, such as seeing why a user can't move issues in a workflow. Jira configuration requires a good amount of experience - and even experienced users often resort to documentation. It's a tool that's easy to use if you know what you're doing and where to find the proper documentation, but novice users tend to find it challenging.

This is a pretty straightforward system. You put in the bug details, a ticket is created, the team is notified. The user interface reflects this very simple and straightforward flow. It's certainly much easier than trying to track bugs with using Excel and email.

I have not had a chance to contact JIRA's customer support. It does offer extensive documentation, although it often feels too technical for me. There is also a JIRA training app that lets you take little lessons and quizzes on different areas (e.g., JIRA basics, agile). I did find it a helpful way to teach myself.

One of their strong points i stheir documentation. Almost all of the basic set up needed within JIRA is available online through atlassian and its easy to find and very precise. The more critical issues need to be addressed as well and hence the rating of 8 instead of a 9.

Implementation Rating
Atlassian
Take your time implementing Jira. Make sure you understand how you want to handle your projects and workflows. Investing more time in the implementation can pay off in a long run. It basically took us 5 days to define and implement correctly, but that meant smooth sailing later on.

Implementation was pretty simple. Particularly because the product cannot be customized so there is not much to do apart from getting it up and running.

monday.com cannot be integrated with CI/CD tools, whereas Atlassian Jira integrates with CI/CD tools seamlessly. Atlassian Jira has strong Agile and Scrum support. Coming to monday.com, it has basic agile functionality. But Atlassian Jira has a complex UI, and monday.com has an intuitive, drag-and-drop interface. Overall, Atlassian Jira provides features like Agile project management, DevOps integration, and customizable workflows.

We migrated away from the whole suite of Rational tools because of their massive complexity around administration and inflexibility regarding workflows. In addition, the suite was insanely expensive, and users hated the usability of the tools. We evaluated, and liked JIRA, but because the organization was looking for cost savings, we ended up going with Bugzilla and it's FOSS model so as to avoid ongoing costs.

Return on Investment
Atlassian
  • Atlassian Jira's robust workflow automation has boosted team efficiency, shortening delivery cycles and driving a positive ROI through improved project management.
  • Its advanced reporting and integration capabilities have enabled data-driven decisions, aligning operations with key business objectives.
  • However, the steep learning curve can delay adoption, potentially hindering short-term ROI.

  • It has made the SDLC process more efficient. Bugs were logged and tracked in emails or in Excel sheets leading to slow communication and at time version issues with multiple files. Being an online tool, Bugzilla solved those issues, improved communication, instant status updates and improved efficiency.
  • We have used Bugzilla with a lot of federal goverment agencies (DHS, CMS, SAMHSA, CDC, HHS etc). Project Directors adn Principle Investigators were at times given access to Bugzilla which provided a snapshot of open vs closed issues.
  • Some groups would resist using Bugzilla with the email reminders being the main reason. Turning off or reminding them of features where we can 'control' email notification helped a lot.
