Even though Azuqua may be a bit more user friendly, Boomi can handle many more situations. Azuqua couldn't handle the majority of the processes we wanted to perform.

We had previously used Adeptia to integrate, and they were night and day. Boomi is easier to set up, easier to use, easier to monitor, and faster. We have also used other custom solutions for integrating, and they don't compare with the robustness, speed, and accuracy of Boomi.

Boomi
Legacy systems often need to be replaced or integrated with new applications in order to modernize businesses. A strong API strategy that avoids custom coding and third-party programs is essential to enable this integration. Boomi's new-age connectivity and integration solutions ensure safe, secure, and robust integration. In the age of information, businesses are under more pressure than ever to be able to collect and manage large amounts of data. This data comes in from a variety of sources, including personalized devices such as voice assistants and wearable tech. While this data can be immensely valuable to businesses, they often lack the infrastructure necessary to handle it effectively. This can lead to data build-up in databases or silos, and can eventually lead to problems with integration and security.

Microsoft Dynamics GP is well-suited for our environment, as we pay a diverse group of employees, including on-the-road drivers, shop employees (some in other locations), and office employees. It easily tracks time off, taxes, pay, etc. The reporting allows us to verify with our drivers how they are paid each week, whether it be through mileage or stop-offs.

Well-suited for invoice processing, generation, report building, and searches. I also like the fixed asset management tool; however, one area there I wish were a little more user-friendly. changing the asset type or department without having to create a bunch of JE's and doing transfers. For the most part, though, NetSuite is very user-friendly, and I can complete most tasks without issues.

Boomi
  • Pre-built connectors to almost anything which greatly reduce time to release of your integration needs.
  • Easy to use development platform with drag&drop features. Non-technical people could build simple integration processes in no time.
  • Great user community where you can get quick help if needed. Boomi people hang around there a lot.

  • Great Plains started as back office/accounting, and that is still it's strong suit.
  • SQL and the GP programming language, Dexterity, provide a robust, scalable, and stable platform with well documented maintenance and repair procedures. Relatively easy to manage, tune, and support.
  • Microsoft support for GP verges on "particularly well". Doesn't quite get there but good enough once you know what you're doing
  • Strong partner network, including the GP User Group (GPUG)

Cons
Boomi
  • More from a development perspective. It is always difficult to use the properties features. It takes a while to understand how the data/variables can be used across an integration.
  • Dell Boomi should also invest more on API Management and not just seen as a ETL,ESB tool.
  • Should roll out features more often based on users reviews.

  • With respect to the allocations, once the expense is entered into the allocation account, you lose the ability to run any detail on just the total of the expense. It would be nice if you could run a trial balance on the allocation accounts the same way you can with regular accounts.
  • I've always thought security set up could be a bit simpler. It actually has gotten better through the years. Specifically, with eight separate entities, it would be nice to have a "master" setup where you could call up one group entity, assign the users rights, and then be finished. Currently, whenever I have a new user, I have to call up each individual entity and select all of the features I want the user to have. That means I have to do eight steps for each user.

  • More in-built reports can be added. Existing reports are not having all the details in granular level that we need for financial reporting,
  • Support can be improvised, as all the support tickets are taking more time to resolve.
  • More customisation required with scripting to generate user specific reports.

Due the economic challenges that Puerto Rico is having, the company has had to merge some companies in order to be more efficient. It has been easy in GP to process those merges, even thought we had to spend days to accomplish that the process was smooth and accurate. In addition we were able to streamline the purchasing and sales process and the organization is confident to keep renewing GP for the future versions.

Though it is a basic accounting package, I believe some users do not find the old style menus and navigation options intuitive. There is also a great lack of training resources in the market, so users have to learn the product without guidance a lot, resulting in inefficient workflows and misuse or misunderstanding of many features.

Boomi support was responsive and knowledgable, however being a closed cloud service, it doesn't have good community support. I felt NetSuite Professional Services did an excellent job of guiding us in the implementation. I also felt our internal teams were a little resistant to the change and engagement of new software. Had we performed better engaging and buying into the new software, I would be able to rate the implementation better. Therefore, the lower number should not be viewed as a deficiency with the software or the professional services teams, but as an reminder of how important complete buy-in from the local users is.

We decided to go with Dell Boomi because another department in our company was already using the software. We did not research competitor applications to use as our business solution. I come from a strong background of using SAP. SAP doesn't have the flexibility of GP, an example would be SAP doesn't allow core mods, if they catch you, you lose support. Microsoft doesn't really care about mods, but they will be quick to have the vendor you used support your issue if it is caused by those mods. With SAP your company adapts to the software, where with GP you adapt the software to you.

We went from a $10m ARR business to $200m ARR business with the same amount of Order Processors and 12x amount of transactions by leveraging Boomi to perform a lot of the work, and then having the Order Processing team to simply review that the transaction was processed successfully.

  • Microsoft Dynamics GP allows my clients to move from a paper or spreadsheet based company to an integrated, electronic, streamlined business. I love being able to help clients gain efficiencies through the use of Microsoft Dynamics GP.

If someone calls stating they paid an invoice with a certain check number, we can quickly run a query to find that particular check number to see where it was applied.
