We liked Druva better for our company and environment. At the time of purchase, Druva outperformed the competition and was able to backup everything in our environment.
Chose Druva Security Cloud
We didn't want to run a dedicated server and storage which led us to meet with Druva. Once we met the account team and supporting engineers we were won over with their professionalism and willingness to see any issue to resolution.

Chose Druva Security Cloud
Druva is a lot easier to use and manage than Veeam ever was, plus it supports simple cloud backups. We initially moved from Veeam to HYCU, which we liked a lot, but then we discovered Druva shortly afterwards, which simplified the whole management and cloud backup process even …

Chose Druva Security Cloud
Both products had good reviews and nice features. For us, Druva Data Resiliency Cloud looked like a more comprehensive solution and the pricing was better. We've been using it for 8 years now and it's been working great.
Chose Druva Security Cloud
Druva is a unique product in the data protection space and does things very differently. This means they are often presenting a very different approach to other vendors in the space. This usually leads to a more modern approach to protecting workloads in both on-prem and cloud …

Chose Druva Security Cloud
In terms of support and services.
Their product is competitively less expensive but the availability of data can not be compromised due to lack of support and services. Druva's OEM support makes it unique and top of the line.
Chose Druva Security Cloud
Along with Druva Data Resiliency Cloud- during our selection procedure we also evaluated Veeam and Carbonite. While all seem to be good solutions- Druva Data Resiliency Cloud went far and beyond to make sure that our free trial was excellent and the features that we had wanted …

Chose Druva Security Cloud
While both Druva Data Resiliency Cloud and Veeam serve our purpose well, Drive provides a better ROI and service overall. We also don't experience backup failures with it, the GUI is also single and unified to use once you start getting used to it well. So I personally like …
Chose Druva Security Cloud
Easy setup to backup our entire environment from M365 to our datacenter and it all can be done from one single pane of glass.
Chose Druva Security Cloud
Druva is great in that the Data is backed up to the cloud. It also offers the Cloud Cache which is functionally the same as what Veeam does but is included in the cost of Druva.
Chose Druva Security Cloud
The way Druva Data Resiliency Cloud stacks up against the Veeam products I was looking into at the time is that eventhoguh Veeam was a more nuture company, I thought that Druva was more developed on the cloud side since that is were they stated and did not have to try to …
Chose Druva Security Cloud
Druva is a full backup solution as a service, in contrast to Veeam Backup and Replication, which requires the admins to provide and manage their own servers, networking and storage access.
Chose Druva Security Cloud
We considered Spanning but Druva came highly recommended by fellow IT colleagues. We chose it based on personal recommendations and after seeing a demo. It was exactly what we were looking for in our backup solution.
Chose Druva Security Cloud
I have used Veeam before in a previous org and it also worked well for our needs, but we choose Druva Data Resiliency Cloud as they provided a solution for us that worked in terms of backing up data, the implementation resource was also excellent to work with. and we were able …
Chose Druva Security Cloud
Didn't provide the support or had the level of features, based upon the cost to value ratio. It didn't provide all the solutions we desired, in the same management, dashboard form that Druva Data Resiliency Cloud provides us.
Chose Druva Security Cloud
No comparison as Veeam only had on-prem storage solutions. Drive is all cloud
Chose Druva Security Cloud
The positive points in the previous responses are what tilted us in the direction of Druva.
Chose Druva Security Cloud
Druva blew Veeam out of the water. We had constant issues with Veeam and finding a compliant cloud that actually worked how we needed it. We went from struggling to make Veeam work and keep it working, to barely having to monitor our backups. Druva absolutely outperforms Veeam …
Veeam Data Platform
Chose Veeam Data Platform

Druva
100% cloud backup solution that was implemented well and easy to use. Great communication from our AE through the process and whenever needed. There is a robust admin web management portal that offers a fairly granular user privilege setup and the ability to add different regions in backup. Druva Security Cloud doesn't require a lot of bandwidth or additional resources for either backups or restores. Users can independently recover their data. We are able to back the files up both individually and at a group level. The support team is 24/7 and easily accessible. Biggest con, in this day and age, is that it would be great to have an admin smartphone application. More details when the backup is running would be nice as well as more customizable reports. Also some cosmetic bugs related to the UX, but nothing huge.

For Windows, it is a great option. Just loaded it and get detected by the server. At that point you could forget about your backups. For many Linux servers, it would work fine. The webservers and scientific servers backed up and restored with no problems. Avoid databases with heavy load. We found this to be Veeam Data Platform's weak spot.

Pros
Dropbox
  • I can share projects I need feedback on.
  • I can make projects available to editors so that they can do their work.
  • Dropbox is a place where I can store files that I can access from anywhere, even if I don't have my laptop with me at the time.
  • I have an old friend who is an acting professor in Tokyo. He loves the dialogue that I write in my novels. He converts chapters into scenework for his acting students. They get very excited when there's new material!

  • We like the option of downloading backed up files both individually and as a group.

  • The ease of use in creating jobs and adding clients enables our new and less skilled administrators to work efficiently, quickly, and accurately.
  • The same ease of use is essential for junior admins as well. Backups are quickly and accurately restored, allowing our networking team to bring clients back to production within expected times.
  • The ability to create a restore for testing and to remove it quickly has proven to be an excellent asset for our production and DB teams.

Cons
Dropbox
  • I’d like to be able to hover over an image/document and have it expand/enlarge without actually opening it
  • I’d love to see a carousel that lets me thumb through more quickly
  • I’m almost always in thumbnail view. I’d like to see them re-organize automatically when something is moved or deleted instead of leaving an empty space.
  • AI options for photo editing.
  • Easier pdf markups

  • They have more ways to improve in Analytics section and UX.
  • I recommend to have to integrate with the cloud storages cheaper option to store backups which would be tremendous for customers to save snapshots costs.

  • On occasion, the 'reason' for a failed backup can be a little hard to understand. It would be nice if it were a bit more straightforward.
  • I would love to run the platform natively on Linux, but I don't think it's an option.
  • Sometimes, locating the correct update file for the platform software can be a bit confusing. If they had an option to download the correct update file from within the console, that would take some of the guesswork out of it.

The product is easy to navigate and manage. Setup and configuration is also easy. We did not need to pay for any additional professional services. Our account team worked with use on the integration. It is a very robust solution that has never failed. It also has perfect integration with Windows server volume shadow copies. The processing load is moved from the backup server to the backup proxy. I give Veeam Data Platform a rating of 9 for availability because it consistently performs reliably in critical data protection and recovery tasks. The platform is designed to minimize downtime, ensuring that backup and recovery processes are accessible when needed. While there may be rare instances of maintenance or minor application errors, these do not significantly affect the overall reliability of the system. Veeam’s strong architecture and features like high availability configurations further enhance its performance, allowing us to trust it in crucial situations. Overall, it has proven to be a dependable solution that meets our organization's needs effectively.

Dropbox is really useful, you can access any file from anywhere and you can upload and even edit files online, but, sometimes it can be slow. Downloading, uploading, and syncing is a bit slow, it can take several minutes. Furthermore, the search engine for large amounts of data can be slow too and it is not powerful.

Page response in the admin center is acceptable- rarely are we waiting for data to load. Backup speeds seem fine, and restore speeds are OK considering it's likely pulling data from cold storage. It often takes 30-60 seconds for the restore to begin transferring files, but speeds are acceptable thereafter

Veeam does a good job with backing up our servers in a timely manner. We are still at the beginning of our Veeam use and are pleased with the speed at which we can access the system as well as the backups and restore points. They immediately responded like in an example that I gave where one of our staff members accidentally deleted the whole Special Hope Network Dropbox, we immediately contacted Dropbox they walked us through the steps of how to retrieve the information and luckily enough we were able to retrieve the entire Dropbox and we have had back and forth with Dropbox on what to do when an employee leaves how to remove them how to add another employee.

We had an issue in my first year that took a long time to fix. The support guy was awesome, took screen shots, filled me in, was professional, but it just took so long. I do think that was an anomaly, but it certainly sticks out nonetheless. Beyond that, we've had pretty good support "relationships" with the reps. They're usually pretty prompt at getting back and quite knowledgeable. Just make sure you have your proxies updated, because that's always step 1!

I rated the in-person training an 8 because it was generally effective and provided a solid foundation for understanding the Veeam Data Platform. The instructors were knowledgeable and engaged, making the sessions interactive. However, I felt that some topics could have been covered in more depth, and additional hands-on exercises would have further reinforced the learning experience. Overall, it was a positive training session that adequately prepared attendees for using the product, but there's room for improvement.

I gave it a rating of 7 because, although the online training offered valuable content and covered the essential aspects of the Veeam Data Platform, it lacked interactivity and opportunities for direct engagement with instructors. This made it challenging to ask questions or delve deeper into specific topics. Additionally, some sections felt a bit rushed, which could hinder a comprehensive understanding of more complex features. Overall, while the training was useful, improvements in interactivity and pacing could elevate the experience significantly.

As the product is cloud based within AWS, scaleability is unlimited. The on-premise units of scale are predictable and allow administrators to scale up / down as needed. In my experience, the flexibility around these appliances, allow organisations to vertically or horizontally scale the environment with confidence and ease. Conversely, it is possible to set thresholds to ensure that organisations do not over commit and manage budgets effectively.
