NAKIVO Backup & Replication is a very complete and versatile product, of great value to companies due to its great contribution to information security. Because of its ease of use, administrators can quickly perform full or partial backups and restores, or create scheduled tasks. In our case, we make backup copies of our virtual infrastructure with scheduled tasks that can be easily monitored. The immutable repository option and the integration of cloud backups with specialized providers are a perfect ally to keep information safe, in case of a cyber attack (Ransomware type), and even disasters.

Awesome Backup App and a Worthy One for its UI!
NAKIVO Backup & Replication has an awesome administration console. It is easy to configure, and it gives very rich performance when the tasks or jobs run. It has a good approach to expanding the backup destination. we had evaluated for at least a month or so and found this one and another product are almost similar but NAKIVO Backup & Replication stands out when the UI comes. It takes only a few minutes to set up then it has the feature to copy backup offsites, such as AWS s3, Azure storage, or BlackBlaze, etc. With less than 50 VMs, it requires just the inbuilt transporter but for more an additional transporter can be easily added quickly from the console itself. Licensing also looks really transparent and easy to apply.

Easy and reliable solution
We use NAKIVO to backup our VM structure. It gives us peace of mind to have it covered by the solution. It doesn't require much maintenance as it basically operates itself once it's proper configured. The solution is very simple, fast and reliable. We don't have much contact with support since it does not require often. The times we needed, NAKIVO's team was fast and effective in its responses.

NAKIVO - the best Backup product for your money
Excellent and easy to use product for backup and replication of their existing Data Bases and Sharing Folders, giving visibility on tasks and finished jobs, which saves time and makes management easy. Being reliable is also very important as they can fully focus on other things and also it is highly price competitive.

Currently I use the product to back up 5 virtual machines which are distributed on 3 physical servers, and the daily backup is done locally on a synology server and on Saturdays to the wazabi cloud, for now it is I have had problems with some virtual machines but I have already solved it, it has been a versioning issue and when updating it it has worked without problems, I have also carried out a restoration test and the virtual machine has worked without problems.
It seems exceptional to me since I have had a lot of support from them as a partner, something that is not seen with other products and they are always willing to give space to review any problem, this is something that with other providers you have to review with the vendor and never with the vendor. develops the product, even in the matter of prices it seems to me something very adjusted to the product which has been innovating year after year.

We use NAKIVO Backup & Replication to back up critical VMs. With this software we solve our problems with VMs backups. It is very easy to configure the backup and very powerful, fast and intuitive. We can backup VMs of different windows server version, 2012R2, 2016, 2019 or 2022. We can keep our information safe and, probably, we extend the use to physical environments. The cost is effective and we recommend NAKIVO Backup & Replication.

We have been using NAKIVO Backup & Replication to perform virtualizations and backups of our company's servers for 8 years.
We have several physical servers and, within them, several Virtual ones. To avoid a disaster, we have the same virtual servers on all our physical servers, some in production and others stopped, in such a way that if a server stopped working, we would pick up the ones that are not working at that moment and everything would return to normal in a few minutes. For that, we use NAKIVO Backup & Replication to create the virtualizations of the servers that are working and distribute them in the servers to be able to recover them in case of loss of one of the physical servers. We also carry out virtualizations in case we have a malware or ransomware attack on any of our servers to set up a replica and function again as if we had not had the attack. We use NAKIVO Backup & Replication because it allows us to make these replicas because it also allows us to make retention points to return to a replica made a few hours before or a few days or weeks before the disaster occurred. We also make backups of the servers to have a copy and be able to recover a server or file in a granular way. It is slower than setting up a replica, but it allows us to have them outside the company so that in the event of a physical disaster on the servers, we can recover the system.

Nakivo - Fast, Reliable and Affordable Backup
NAKIVO Backup & Replication is used in our company for backup of the company business software, VMware virtual appliances, and Microsoft Office 365 One Drive and Outlook data. The solution is easy to implement, has a user-friendly interface, and allowed us to quickly and reliably create backups. The backup validation and instant recovery options made our regular disaster recovery procedure checkup much easier and saved us a lot of time. Recovery of files or emails is straightforward and quite simple and makes life much easier when users accidentally delete their files. The immutable storage feature provides an additional level of security and protection. On top of this, the solution is affordable and has flexible licensing models.

I’ve used NAKIVO Backup & Replication for ~5 years now as a partner/reseller and have tested it extensively in our lab environment. I use it to perform weekly backups of a standalone ESXi host. In the first few years it was definitely more limited and difficult to use but over the last 3 years, they have made major improvements in features while also improving out-of-box experience and manageability. Their online documentation is excellent. I’ve only had to open a ticket with their support once in these five years and my issue was resolved pretty quickly. The configuration export and import feature are incredibly useful to reinstall the backup virtual appliances/VMs.

We have really enjoyed using NAKIVO. It's a very easy-to-use tool, yet very powerful. I would recommend it highly to anyone looking for an alternative to the more expensive solutions in the market. 5 years of usage
The web interface is very fast, and the overall use is very simple. The VMWare appliance makes the work very simple and you don't need any Windows machine. All the backup tasks work well and fast with any kind of NAS. The replica with snapshot makes the difference with other products. The remote replica of backup is fast and simple, super secure in an Enterprise environment.

We use NAKIVO for backup at our two data centers, one in the US and one in the UK. Since our environment is primarily virtual, NAKIVO helps make backups simple and straightforward. The product is versatile in that we have used it for single file restores all the way up to complete VM restores.

- Performing a restore is easy using the built in wizard
- Setting up new backup jobs takes no time and all.
- Reporting could use some work. I think there is a calendar feature but it's not available given our current license level. I think this should come standard.
- We've had corrupted backup issues in the past and had to reach out to support. They are the only ones who can fix the built-in backup DB problem. It would be nice if there was a way for the end-user to do it without having to get support involved.

Finally a usable backup solution without pain!
We are using NAKIVO to back up our own infrastructure located at two locations with two backup machines each. We are developing software and need to have a reliable backup for our VMware infrastructure (Vmware 6.5 and 7) to back up in several strategies (Test, development, productive) and storing these backups on the other site and vice versa. Also, we do technical support for some customers to use NAKIVO for their own purposes in several SME companies.

I was looking for an alternative to the well known VM Backup Software from V****. Not just because of their recently changed licensing and increased pricing. I'm doing local backups only of 2-4 Servers (Sockets) with 10+ VMs. I was looking for perpetual, per socket licencing. Nakivo is easy to install and setup, and can also be used with Linux or comes as a ready to use VM-Appliance, which is what I use. My performance test showed Nakivo Backup was slightly slower (10%), which doesnt't bother me much. Unfortunately I had problems with quiecing on my old Servers running ESXi 6.0, but since ESXi snapshots are also not working this Problem is rather elated to my used Hardware. I think the problem may be resolved if upgrading to 6.5 /6.7. Therefore I decided to use Nakivo only for with my new Server(s) which are running ESXi 6.7 and will replace my old servers in the long run.

Testing Nakivo with old versions of Vmware Esxi and went well!
We use Nakivo Backup & Replication to backup some virtual machines located on ESXi 5.5. We gave it a try because it was one of the few to support that version of Esxi, created some backup tasks, scheduled them, and watched how it worked. The version we used was the free version that supports up to 10 virtual machines. The business problem addressed was to get an image of a virtual machine and restored it onto another Esxi.

NAKIVO Backup & Replication is being used across the entire organization, but only for backups of both Windows and Linux VMs currently. We may start using the replication features in the near future.
- Creating G-F-S backups of virtual servers in a completely automated fashion.
- Restoring data easily when needed, either as specific individual files or entire servers (and the run-from-backup option is just neat, although we've rarely had use for that).
- Storing Data in a de-duplicated, compressed format has allowed us to store many many backups in a space that is many many times smaller than it would take to keep multiple full copies of each server.
- Needs to support more flavors of Linux. Seeing "The operating system of the selected recovery server is not supported" is just not cool, man, not cool.
- Should allow more than one user regardless of license level. Even small companies have more than one IT person who might need to access it and sharing one ID is never a good idea.
- It's frustrating when we get job failures because maintenance tasks are being done (which makes things like repositories unavailable). Maintenance tasks should be paused and then resume after the higher priority job completes.

NAKIVO: The Answer to Your Backup Prayers
We've been using NAKIVO to back up data across our office locations, as well as the VMs themselves. It has helped us leverage our resources by enabling us to use local storage at one location and allocate it as a recovery site for an office at another location.
- You can implement NAKIVO on your own relatively quickly without needing consultants to come in spending hours to get it in place.
- It's cost-effective.
- The interface is simple and straight-forward. It's not overly complicated.
- You can only backup virtual machines.
- Although you can easily set up NAKIVO, the more specific or complex your configuration, the more reliant you become on tech support. Knowing Linux would be a big plus with these types of configurations.
- Updating the software could be a little more user-friendly.
NAKIVO backup has been deployed in our datacenters and in our branch offices for backup. It is also used across several of our operating companies in their operations. It was a cost-efficient backup solution and alternative from VMware Data Protection with better scale. It allows us both snapshot-based backup and replication for migrations. We moved away from NAKIVO in our primary datacenters and migrated back to Veeam in the past 18 months.
- Backup jobs run well to a centralized repository.
- Replication jobs directly between vSphere instances works well.
- De-duplication seems to be efficient as long as it is against the same VM ID.
- It is cost-effective to license.
- The repository is monolithic and maintenance tasks are slow for large repositories.
- De-duplication is not global - it is per VM based de-duplication and change blocks only (not most efficient).
- Repository corruption is a major risk and caused data loss on a couple occasions.
