What is OrbitNote?

OrbitNote enables teachers to convert printed text into a PDF with a one-click OCR scanning technology. OrbitNote then takes care of everything else, ensuring that students have access to the tools they need, such as text to speech, highlighting, and vocabulary support across all class content.

OrbitNote allows students to express their understanding in flexible ways. They can type or draw their thoughts on the page, which can aid planning. Students can highlight the key points in a comprehension piece or to help with studying. Both teachers and students can use their voices to send thoughts and feedback, and finally students can add shapes and images to their work.

Using OrbitNote allows for collaboration, for example, teachers could leave a quick voice note for students offering feedback and areas for improvement, rather than waiting for students to turn in the finished article. Students can then access the voice note and make changes to their work. Students could use a range of tools to ask teachers for help, identifying areas that need more support - before it becomes a problem. Pen and paper projects can become digital spaces for working together, allowing collaboration between teachers and students, as well as for group projects and tasks.

It is used with students to make traditional classroom paper assignments accessible to a variety of learners' needs. We are using the free version as a UDL tool in the district and the paid version with specific special education students.
  • OCR scanning.
  • Text to speech.
  • Annotation on worksheets.
  • Integration with Google classroom.
  • Would like it to have a specific iPad app.
  • Circle- shape tool difficult to use.
I think OrbitNote is a great tool for all teachers to use to make paper assignments accessible to a variety of learners.

  • It has made it possible for teachers to provide accessible materials to students with just a few clicks.
I like how read&write integrates with OrbitNote making it where students do not have to learn multiple tools depending on what they are doing on the computer.
