SAP Lumira Discovery is a data visualization software solution that helps business users take full advantage of the massive amounts of data that is available to their business by using data analysis and data visualization capabilities. The data available in all major data sources (like MS Excel, csv, txt, and diverse database formats) can be put together in grids and graphs to create presentations, dashboards, infographics or business reports. I have implemented this tool across different organizations and trained users in using Lumira's visualization capabilities.It addresses inventory, production and sales problems.
Pros
  • Visualization
  • alter data structures and correlations
  • expanding the age reports involved in monthly reviews
Cons
  • Should have Excel-like pivot table drill down features
  • Integration with MS excel needs to enhance for importing data
  • Output formats are bit rigid
  • Limited functionality to manipulate data before reporting
Likelihood to Recommend
When working with Lumira, we noticed that there are not that many charts available to do any statistical analysis. for example No Control charts, Histogram, Gantt chart, Highlight Table. Hope Lumira can incorporate some of these features in later versions.

SAP BOBJ Lumira is being used enterprise wide.It is being used by the management for the most part.

The limitation we have with Lumira is that not all the features are available when we integrate in with SAP BW.

Microsoft Excel users are thrilled to have it as an input source.

Pros
  • Lumira does very well with MS excel as input. Ease of use and additional features are impressive.
  • ESRI map integration is one of the biggest strength.
  • Integration with HANA and HADOOP is a big plus.
Cons
  • Drill down feature apart from geo hierarchies will be much appreciated
  • Integration with SAP BW can be improved greatly.
  • Broadcasting storyboards with refresh capability is constantly being asked for in our organization.
Likelihood to Recommend

It is not well suited for analysts who deals with big datasets.

Well suited for reports from different sources.

Well suited for management level reporting for a quick analysis.

SAP Lumira, a software to visualize your large data and allows users to explore data deep down. It helps to understand the data requirement, what needs to be done to grow your company. It is basically a BI tool designed for small or large companies. It can be used for accounting, reporting, make graphs and charts. Easy to load data and create graphs.
Pros
  • Easy to load data and use it. Sometimes we need technical help to create graphs but mostly it is easy once you learn.
  • Support numerous kind of data source.
  • Value for money.
Cons
  • Need a proper training to use.
  • Need to enhance integration with MS Excel.
  • Limited functionality.
Likelihood to Recommend
The tool is great, easy to scale and is on budget to buy. It supports a large number of graphs to represent your report and make a presentation for clients. It uses numerous data sources which can be used. It needs to improve, there are a lot of features which other software provides such as maps, scheduling, formatting.

So far only SAP Lumira is used only by the IT and FI department. It not as user-friendly compared to Tableau.

  • Upload from SAP-BW

  • Still not very user-friendly

The Excel upload is ok, but automatic refreshing from any SAP Business Warehouse (BW) source still not smooth enough.

  • User interface (rather complex and at times, hard to follow)
  • Sharing options - would love to be able to export visualizations to other formats besides PDF
  • Data entry / editing within the program
