Overall Satisfaction with ActiveCampaign

We use ActiveCampaign at my company and at client companies. We use it for newsletters, opt-ins, automation campaigns as well as basic CRM-type functions so we use it in marketing and business development/sales. It helps us connect actions to our marketing avatars and make informed decisions around sales and marketing activities.
  • Easy to use interface when building out email automations and campaigns
  • Helps track prospect interest in different ways
  • Variety of customizations allows for flexibility
  • Easy to scan dashboard view
  • Some limitations on form design. Could offer more variety
  • Automation testing function would be helpful
  • Some limitations around reporting. Digging to the individual emails within a campaign then date sorting
  • Helped me grow my email list and community by segmenting more effectively and tracking more of the things that impact my goals.
  • Built better emails using the available tools and tips which has improved my open rates.
  • Built automation that [has] saved time and improved client relationships - customer feedback, birthday greetings, etc.
  • Allowed me to integrate with other systems and keep all my emails in one place. Better tracking.
I preferred ActiveCampaign as it gave me the best bang for my buck. At the time, Mailchimp didn't do automation (now they do) but I prefer the interface of AC over them. Keap is a great tool but I find it too pricey for what I currently need. The fact that AC can integrate with so many other platforms (whether directly or thru Zapier) means that I have been able to use it a lot longer than I have with other providers. Constant Contact had limitations around use and had no CRM type component last time I checked. AC seemed to be able to do my emails, list management, CRM, and automation along with lead scoring and pipeline management. It works well for many small businesses looking to start marketing to their email list more effectively. Marketo was simply too big for a small business.

I like the Goal function in the automation as it helps me control the flow of emails received when I'm working with delivery dates. I also like how ActiveCampaign integrates with so many other pieces of software. This has come in handy on numerous occasions when I've worked with clients to set up different custom scenarios. The different uses between lists and tags [have] also allowed me to track campaigns and conditional automation on a more detailed level. This proved to be immeasurably helpful when we need to troubleshoot an email and I can verify that a specific email was opened or a link clicked. We also do list segments easily from larger lists based on custom fields without creating permanent lists and clutter. Very helpful!

I don't feel that their landing page element is where it needs to be for me to use this functionality. But I prefer to build my own regardless. The embedded forms are limited in fonts which can be frustrating and the fact that you can add the same actions (add a tag, etc.) at different points makes it necessary to develop a standard so that updates can be made effectively. This can cause some confusion if you are picking up after someone else.

ActiveCampaign Training

  • in-person training
I attended an in-person Study Hall a few years ago to make sure I was using the features in the best manner. The class size was too large so it impacted what I could see of their slides and whether I got any personalized help. Also, the course was a bit too beginner for me. But it did help clarify a few things and the networking was great!

I did not but a client of mine did and it was mostly to ensure a specific level of support should they require it. They didn't want to search through documentation in order to fix anything. Whereas I don't mind searching as it makes me better at running it!
I was working out automation and wanted to use radio buttons in a form to trigger a conditional email sequence. They were quick with a solution to help me out - worked great and it would have taken me forever to come to that solution on my own.
I've never had an issue with support and have used them a few times. So, although I don't need Support a lot the few times I've [reached] out they were qualified, helpful, and quick.
