Overall Satisfaction with Atera

Atera was used as a core part of our support services as a managed IT service provider. Thousands of devices were covered by Atera - we utilized many parts of the product including full remote access to systems, patch management, software installations and utilizing other features such as remote command/powershell scripting, task management, etc
  • Simple Interface. The interface (via a web browser) makes it easy to perform all functions quickly and easily.
  • Remote Access. There are several options not only built into Atera but also which can be integrated into Atera which makes remote access a breeze.
  • Patch Management. OS updates are simplified with the ability to set policies and approvals of updates to systems. Pushing out updates is as simple as a few clicks.
  • Scripting interface. When we used this solution the interface was a little clunky and had some problems. However over time this is likely to have been improved.
  • User Interface. Whilst the user interface is great and allows easy access to functions, there are always ways in which it can be improved.
  • Speed. When it was in use the system did occasionally lag a little. Again, as the system improves and more users are active on it, I'm sure the team at Atera have continued to increase their capacity.
  • As the licensing is per technician/agent it is a fixed cost no matter how many devices are on the system. This allows for cheaper and more flexible scalability.
  • Patch Management. With patch policies and approvals, ensuring systems are patched and healthy is very easy to see.
  • Integrations. Atera has a lot of integrations with third party vendors which allows for increasing the feature set of the base system.
As all of the clients were remote to our business (over a whole country) it made support and management of these devices a breeze. Remote Management allowed us to remotely access a users system and provide support which would have been more difficult over the phone. Further, the system simply allowed us to have better monitoring in place, have proactive processes in place to ensure the health of the systems and allow us to ensure systems were regularly patched.
The only part of Atera we did not utilize was the billing side of things. RMM, PSA and remote access were heavily used features throughout our support team. The impact was immense - it totally changed the way support technicians worked and provided better support to our clients (which made them happier too!)
Any RMM that supports licensing around agents / technicians rather than devices is always a win in my mind. Primarily Atera was chosen due to the specific features it provides (we didn't need a lot of bells and whistles) and did what it needed to do, well. Remote access, patch management and scripting were all heavily used. Some other products make some of these things convoluted whereas Atera made things simple.

One of the best things about Atera is that it is charged at per agent, rather than per device. Per device licensing is an absolute nightmare for managed service providers and can become very costly. Whereas the per agent/technician model allows for a more flexible licensing model and provides better scalability with lower costs.
