Overall Satisfaction with Intuit Mailchimp

As a technology and marketing consultant I've had several opportunities to help my clients choose and set up direct mailing systems. I always recommend Intuit Mailchimp and most of my clients agree. It's quick and easy to set up and start sending out effective emails.

In most cases we've uploaded existing customers and also used the Intuit Mailchimp sign-up forms.

We've also done most of the graphics and creation of content for the emails. Using templates and saving templates save a lot of time and helps us to present a consistent look.

Pros

  • Easy to segment users in the database
  • Great reporting and review of campaigns
  • Helpful tools to build new campaigns and set up updated ones
  • Good templates and forms

Cons

  • In the years I've been using Intuit Mailchimp, they've updated their platform quite a bit. Any problems I had early on are now addressed and fixed.
  • One of my retail web store clients was sending out email specials and notices about once a month. After clicking the send button, we would watch Google Analytics and the current site users would light up immediately. Often, the current site visitors would pop up to 20, 30 or more after the email was sent. On a normal day, seeing 1 or 2 online users would be OK.
  • Pretty much in all cases, we could see an uptick in positive activity after sending out a Intuit Mailchimp email to a list.
One of my clients was a big user of the segments. She had about a dozen segments in use. In her case, she was segmenting based on previous interactions with her customers. Her business had a yearly cycle of products so her message would vary depending on when the user last purchased. She also segmented for buyers of a test/starter kit to send them special messages to get them to place a full/final order.

Not all campaigns were a total success, but most moved the ball in the right direction and all helped to inform the next campaign. The level of customer retention was better for my clients that paid attention to their campaigns and sent out regular emails. We found that emails with an obvious purpose; a discount or helpful hints about product usage had the best response but, keeping in touch (without spamming) was very helpful to retention.
We haven't had any issues with scaling. Intuit Mailchimp has always performed as promised.
I give it a 10 because it has always give me what I needed.
I've had several clients switch to Intuit Mailchimp from Constant Contact. I think the features and functions of Intuit Mailchimp proved to be better and the value to be better.

Ecommerce User Experience

  • Segmentation
  • Sign-up forms
  • Email marketing
We feel it is very important to keep in touch with our customers. We try to send out customized emails to let people know of specials and upcoming events. Even if a few drop off the list from time to time, the response is generally very positive. It's pretty easy to keep up the list and get new sign-ups through the form.
