Overall Satisfaction with Procore

We use Procore to build budgets on apartment renovation projects, then track contracts, change orders, etc for that job and bill against the budget. It is being used by about half our company (asset managers, construction managers, and some executives.) Previously costs were being tracked on spreadsheets so this gives us a cloud-based system to track costs and construction documents.
  • Electronic Contracts and Change orders. Integration of DocuSign
  • Visually appealing and easy to use User Interface
  • Great cloud-based program with mobile and desktop apps
  • Easily scalable across multiple projects
  • Very customizable
  • Somewhat expensive
  • You can send off a contract without a schedule of value associated with it. There should be an option that makes it so that is not possible.
  • Direct costs and how they are inputted could be improved
Procore had the most robust set of features of all programs we tested. Practically we don't need EVERYTHING Procore provides but it was easy and scalable, and cloud based - all features which are important since many members of our company are on the road quite a bit. It was more expensive than most but well worth it, and we use it across many assets so the cost/pricing structure was advantageous.
Most collaboration occurs between us (owners) and GC's and subcontractors via contracts, RFIs, and Change Orders. We benefit from these in a very material way. Having a platform that can distribute and track important documents each step saves time and streamlines communication. Having a set contract "fill in the blank" areas has helped speed up the contract documents and gives our contractors a certain peace of mind if we use them multiple times since the contract is so similar. Electronic signatures save days and a headaches.
  • Many hours saved drawing up contracts
  • Streamlined process has saved time and money sending documents and signing documents electronically as opposed to printing, signing, or god forbid mailing
  • Helped track costs more closely to see and address potential over runs prior to them becoming an apocalyptic event
  • Gain visibility into projects
  • Ensure information is accessible and up to date
  • Identify job site risks
  • Track cost impacts from the field
  • Streamline financial reporting
Procore has helped us gain a high level understanding of how each project in our portfolio is preforming. Anyone from executives to managers can log in anywhere to see a snapshot of where the project is financially and how far into the business plan we are.
Procore's integration with RealPage has been at times tough sledding. This is especially true when dealing with direct costs. Procore was easy to upload data from our spreadsheets with a little time and effort. It would be nice to have a faster way to upload historical project data for reference but I'm sure that will come with time.
Most of all it is easy to use and goes wherever I am. I feel like it harnesses technology in a construction industry that is generally lagging behind other industries in that area. The process of adding budgets, creating change orders, contracts, etc. is simple and easy for even the subcontractors. This is perfect for our company that needs multiple parties to be able to access this in real time. Procore, I imagine, is well suited for full on General Contractors who have very large projects where Procore acts to keep everything centralized.

I can see Procore not being ideal for a management company that does not need all the bells and whistles, where it is strictly AP processing. Also small job GC's would probably find Procore to be overkill

Using Procore

9 - One of them is the company accountant that uses it to track costs. Two construction managers use it primarily to keep track of documents such as contracts, change orders, etc. There are three asset managers who use it to track costs vs. budgets (along with some construction management). Additionally, some principles use it the check on overall project status.
We do not anyone who does technical support for us outside of the actual Procore team
  • Contract origination and amendments
  • Cost Tracking
  • Invoice and cost approvals
  • Faster approvals due to the cloud based system
  • Sub adoption has been very high and gets them more efficient as well
  • Taken burden off property for cost and contract management
  • Get subcontractor lists
  • Document sharing
We have been very pleased so far with Procore. We searched for a long time through various software products and feel like Procore not just offers services we need right now but also services we can use in the future should we need them. It is simple to use and very easy to use as it is cloud accessible.

Evaluating Procore and Competitors

  • Price
  • Product Usability
Product usability was the biggest reason we went with Procore. it is cloud based (which some Sage products weren't) and had different modules we could buy for what we needed. We did not need a complete management system like some large GCs so we dialed back what we bought.
No. We hired someone specifically to find and implement project management software and she did a fantastic job. We tested 5 or so products and at the end of the day went with Procore due to the price, product offering, and how easy it was to use. If I needed to look for a similar software, we would do the same thing.

Procore Support

Support staff is attentive and cares about the problems. There are some work arounds we have now that we would like to see changed in the future but for the most part those are large issues that will be addressed over time by Procore. Smaller issues are resolved very quickly
ProsCons
Quick Resolution
Good followup
Problems get solved
Immediate help available
Support cares about my success
None
Our accountant deals with support issues

Using Procore

Procore does a great job with the UI of it's product. For the most part it's easy to navigate and find the necessary information. My only complaint is it the SOV should have an option to create a contract only if a value is present. Right now some contracts get made without a dollar amount if the creator forgets. Then the contract needs to be voided and redone. But overall the UI is nice looking and easy to use.
ProsCons
Like to use
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Consistent
Quick to learn
Convenient
Feel confident using
Familiar
Requires technical support
  • Dashboard
  • Contract creation
  • Managing commitments
  • Schedule of Values - you should have the option not to be able to submit a contract without a SOV number present
  • DocuSign sometimes has a hard time integrating well
