SurveyGizmo works extremely well as a platform for receiving survey responses. As a survey/business analytics tool, the platform offers extensive options for customization and deployment of professional questionnaires. Our team has found SurveyGizmo to be extremely well suited for the modern administrative employee. Surveys are relatively easy to create, deploy, and manage responses in real time. Furthermore, monitoring / managing the results enables businesses to provide any necessary follow-up based on key results. Our team spends quite a bit of time testing out survey tools and have found SurveyGizmo to be a solid option for the needs of our team. Furthermore, we have recommended the platform to other departments within our organization that have uniquely different skillsets from our own. Overall, we see SurveyGizmo as a tool that can be used across most organizational teams if implemented with the specific user-experience in mind.

Survicate
Survicate is well suited for very basic intercept polls and is less suited for more complex surveying tasks (e.g., anything more than basic skip-logic or surveying niche cohorts) and longitudinal surveying (e.g., comparing responses from the same or similar cohorts year over year).

Typeform
Typeform is definitely a leader in the online survey space and that's for a reason. Between logic mapping and the ease of use for the end user, it's a solid app. The unfortunate thing, however, is the price tag--particularly considering the protection you receive from bots. Typeform only allows a certain number of responses at certain package levels, ie: the lowest level, you get a very limited number of responses but in order to receive more responses before your survey is locked, you must upgrade. This is what ultimately lead us to cancel with them. When you post a survey on Typeform, that survey is automatically posted publicly on their website--making it widely available to bots. Typeform offers no easy form of protection like a standardized captcha that you can add to the survey in order to filter bots out. Instead, there are several "work arounds" that they advise users to do that have very limited degrees of success. A quick online search shows that Typeform knows this is clearly an issue, yet they have yet to build in a bot-prevention feature. Since their plan prices vary by number of responses, it seems that they have no incentive to limit the amount of bots filling out surveys I believe. Ultimately, we canceled because, although the app is powerful, it just seemed like their business practices were unethical in my opinion.

Pros
Alchemer
  • Attaching images! Survey Gizmo makes attaching images from surveys a breeze. I've tried other popular survey tools and it can be difficult for users to submit images as part of their survey (e.g. some only allow 1 picture per question, whereas Survey Gizmo allows a range for you to select from)
  • Easy and intuitive survey building.
  • Pretty good out-of-the-box survey analysis.

  • IMO, the strengths of feedback lite is what it is called for - 'lite"... it is basic, simple, and easy to set up and use.
  • Especially should be mention that it is easy to set up, and you can have it working in less than a few hours.
  • Reliable - I don't remember even one "problem" or an issue we experienced with it.

  • The calculator tool allows you to use numerical formulas to create logic within your form for specific behavior.
  • Compatible with modern web browsers for both building a form and publishing, allowing it to work and look good on any device.
  • Integration with products like Zapier allow you to use it as part of a larger automation in your company.
  • Visually pleasing designs with use of themes, images and video to match your branding.

Cons
Alchemer
  • Duplicate protection needs improvement. Anyone who would like to start a survey and finish at a later time is unable to which limits total survey responses.
  • Password protection option can be a challenge when uploading spreadsheets with pre-populated data.
  • Logic and piping options for questions can be difficult when designing more complicated and in-depth surveys, which requires a lot of testing.
  • Follow-up surveys do not provide an option for survey takers to review their previous survey responses, which may provide less accurate data when comparing individuals across multiple surveys.
  • Would like the option to link surveys together in order to more easily track data from individuals across multiple surveys and save previous survey data.

  • In my opinion, inconsistent and visually unappealing survey visuals (e.g., NPS and cSAT questions look completely different from each other, creating a disjointed visual experience)
  • Poor customer service (in my experience, issue resolution can take weeks)
  • Lack of clarity around API & other technical capabilities requiring engineering assistance
  • Very limited maximum response limit per month

  • The pricing structure is a little steep, especially for the Pro+ plan. It would be nice if they had an a la carte option because there are some features we are paying for that we will never use.
  • When creating forms, sometimes the cursor will inexplicably leave the field you are typing in and leave you with incomplete sentences.
  • Even though we are paying for our use, we still have the Typeform branding on our forms, which I think should be removed once you upgrade from the basic plan.

We use Survicate for now, over 7 years, and the tool is being constantly improved. New features and products has been introduced over the years. The team listens to our feedback we sometimes share, and improve the product based on that. We really appreciate being supported by the Customer Success, all the insights and help we got from them. And even though they introduced many new features over the years, the tool still remained super easy to use, even from new employees that join our team

It's rare to use products that offer wide range of features, and yet are really ease to use. Over the years, the product has changed a lot, they introduced numerous new features, but the product remained really simple to use. We know it, because new employees who join our team, have no problem in starting to use Survicate on their own, without and dedicated training. The UI is really clear.

Typeform takes a little bit of getting used to. Compared to Google Forms there are a lot more parts to the software and customizing the form isn't as intuitive. I have also found that embedding it into one smaller section of a webpage seamlessly can be a little tricky. But everything can be figured out eventually and the analytics are very good.

Setup was simple. One-time installation for our website and inside the product. We used Google Tag Manager to implement Survicate. So within 2 hours, we were able to run surveys, and also all attributes and events were passed to Survicate, so that we were able to use them to trigger surveys

I liked the interface for SurveyGizmo much more than Qualtrics. You knew a question was adjusted in SurveyGizmo and wouldn't change, but with Qualtric's interface, you had to refresh the account several times sometimes to ensure the question would work appropriately. Also, with SG, there were a lot of easier capabilities, such as changing missing values in bulk, required questions in bulk, etc.

Considering the simplicity of the need, and the cost of such solution (~600$/yr), I don't think there was very deep research for any alternatives. The main alternative was embedding a feedback tool "organically" into our site, that option was taken off the table, for strategic considerations.

When looking for a feature rich & flexible / customizable solution, Typeform beats out everyone. However, for specific use cases (like NPS), AskNicely is a clear winner in terms of features, but is much too expensive. Typeform is also fun to use, especially compared to Wufoo which seems so out of date

  • It has always delivered on all our business objectives. I think that the reason why it's a bit [more] expensive than other providers.
  • It has helped us to optimize resources especially man hours involved in survey design.
  • It has been a valuable partner in almost all [of] our uses.

  • Typeform has helped guide our Customer Success, Product, and Marketing teams in strategizing how to engage with customers better, and it has also given us a quick and easy way to do so! By collecting feedback and being able to share it across internal teams, we can coordinate our efforts to build our customers a better tool.
  • Typeform has proved to be an elegant solution to one of our earlier vexing problems (previous survey tools that looked annoying, had extremely limited branding options/were not customizable, and didn't integrate well with the rest of our tool set) while not breaking the bank for us - it's a very reasonable price point and does WAY more than the previous tools we were paying just as much for.
