I think [Atlassian] Confluence is an amazing option for larger companies however for a smaller team of less than 20 it might not be the best choice. It definitely helps our team stay connected while working remotely and we're able to stay on top of projects with ease.

Mailchimp

Mailchimp is a great tool. It has lots of features I don't use for my internal communication. If you are running a small business you can leverage the automation tools to help recover abandoned carts or send special offers to your customers on their anniversary or birthday. You can create landing pages to collect customer contacts and surveys to engage with customers.

  • Over the past 6 years the feature set has not significantly expanded
  • Integrations with 3rd party apps (DropBox, Google Drive, Slack) is either through 3rd party plugins or rudimentary at best
  • Frequent interface upgrades and complicated permissions settings makes getting new employees up to speed fiddly in some cases

  • The platform does not have a tool specifically created for the identification of those users who keep anti-spam filters in their email inboxes, to avoid sending and be able to focus the resources that would be wasted on informing another potential customer.
  • Mailchimp is not sufficiently updated to work with connections to online Ads and social networks without the platform freezing, and in the case of the internal ad editor, it does not allow to import the information from the source pages of these ads, so that it is not necessary to transcribe it.
  • Even though there are many templates oriented to the creation and subsequent sending of postcards, most of the models included for these postcards do not meet the sufficient visual quality to be included in the campaign uniformly with the rest of the components of the campaign.

I am confident that Atlassian can come with additional and innovative macros and functions to add value to Confluence. In 6 months, Atlassian transformed a good collaborative tools into a more comprehensive system that can help manage projects and processes, as well as "talk" with other Atlassian products like Jira. We are in fact learning more about Jira to evaluate a possible fit to complement our tool box.

Confluence can - and in my personal opinion, it will - be a bit hard to use in the first moment. Atlassian is a great company and is eager to help you with any question you have, though. The interface seems to be a bit clumsy at first but the customization options are enough to make it easier and simpler. In general, Confluence is easy to use when you understand what each section does, but this can take a while.

I have, in the 4+ years that I've used Mailchimp, never seen an issue that restricted the use of their software/tools. I don't know of a single time when they're system crashed or went down. I could be wrong, but I honestly haven't experienced any issues with outages, errors or unplanned downtime

Pages load very quickly, which makes it useful for quickly obtaining information. The search functionality is also very quick and is able to parse through all of the documents to provide the most relevant results for the query. Other information based software gets bogged down, but so far Atlassian Confluence maintains its performance.

I haven't noticed any slow speeds from Mailchimp or their tools. I think the landing pages load quickly and look nice. The email reports and editing operates smoothly and doesn't take time to load. Additionally, when I use Mailchimp in conjunction with Zapier + Hubspot I don't notice any drag between any of these tools

Most other tools also require a higher level of interaction with IT or global administrators. With confluence, both content creators and consumers can draft an consume content with a much smoother, more intuitive experience.

One of the main differences that stand out between Mailchimp and Constant Contact is that Mailchimp allows me to have unlimited storage for images, which helps me to be able to insert any image at any time for my advertising campaigns, while Constant Contact has a storage limit of images of only 2GB. In addition, Mailchimp has greater accuracy in the access control of advertising campaigns, which helps us to obtain real results from each campaign.

Mailchimp over the years I've used it has grown in leaps and bounds. They have added so many additional features than were previously available. They are truly an all-in-one marketing platform now.If you're a small operation and just want to add email to your marketing efforts, they're there for you. If you're a larger operation and want to start sending postcard advertisements, they can do that. If you'd good with that and want to kick up your marketing by going social, you can do that on their platform. They are truly able to be as small as you need, but also get quite large in whatever it is you'd like to do through their system.
