We also use Microsoft OneDrive, but I prefer Dropbox Business. It’s more intuitive, and frankly, more people have it. We work with a lot of contractors, and almost all of them have Dropbox accounts. It makes it easier to use what everyone else is using. Also, I love the notes …

We mainly selected Dropbox business for the limited deployments are due to the customers we have already using them. They are not our centralized system of choice.

Chose Dropbox Business
They are very alike-- in the end we need to work locally more often than others, so for that reason we went with Dropbox business as our main internal group collab for files. Box's security is better, but Dropbox's sync and sync control is better.
Chose Dropbox Business
We've been using Dropbox Business since its early days. While we've considered other options, none of them provide functionality that would make us think about switching away from Dropbox Business.
Chose Dropbox Business
We use many different file storage, versioning, sharing and document collaboration services. We are not exclusively using Dropbox. Rather, we use Dropbox Business when it is appropriate, like delivering to clients who use it. We also use it internally some, and as mentioned, we …

Chose OneDrive
OneDrive is included in our Microsoft suite of products so there was no additional cost for us to use it. We use OneDrive for that reason mainly. For the most part, it does what you expect a cloud storage system to do, and it does it fairly well. For a larger group (10 or more …

Chose OneDrive
For me, it is easiest to use One Drive if you are working primarily with Windows, Google Drive if you are working with Android devices or Chrome OS, but Dropbox works well on all platforms and has more business features and control over file access, etc.
Chose OneDrive
I personally like Dropbox more but OneDrive has better support and it is integrated directly into the Microsoft Office environment. You can attach files directly from OneNote or Outlook and the file sharing is really easy. The versioning in OneDrive seems better although not …

Chose OneDrive
OneDrive has its pluses and minuses. To be honest, we all switched as a company so I don't see any large benefits compared to other products, but no big misses either.
Chose OneDrive
I mentioned in another area that OneDrive is bundled into our Office 365 accounts - so let me start there. Dropbox will cost you $10 and more per month. Our entire Office 365 account costs $12.50/month for each user - and we get full Office with that. Enough said there. As far …

Chose OneDrive
In every situation I find Google Drive to be superior. Superior UI, searching, sync tool, overall feel.

It operates on an even playing field with Dropbox and Dropbox for Business and Box.com. It is similar enough that I don't feel a desire or compulsion to go out and get Dropbox…
Chose OneDrive
Dropbox was great. But overall it didn't fix our needs and we wanted to stick with one platform. Cost was another factor. We were able to do more with onedrive and installation was also easy to do.
Chose OneDrive
We selected OneDrive because the software integrates well into the other Microsoft Office Suite products. OneDrive, gives you that 1TB of storage for less money than Google Drive does. Despite being a Microsoft product, OneDrive has clients for non-Microsoft operating …
Chose OneDrive
OneDrive does not integrate cleanly with Google products, for that Google Drive would be a better fit. If your organization uses Office 365, then OneDrive is the hands down best option as security scans and controls can be run in the same administrative interface as email …
Chose OneDrive
The OneDrive cloud interface has more integrations (Active Directory, Single Sign On etc.) but the sync engine and versioning for Dropbox is superior.
Chose OneDrive
Overall - Dropbox is strongest for syncing. Permissions aren't as granular as OneDrive - OneDrive is better in that regard. OneDrive compared to Google Drive is a draw - if you are a Google user - drive is the way to go. If Office 365 is your ecosystem - then OneDrive is your …

Dropbox
Everywhere as aforementioned it is well suited ... The largest and most appropriate... A business can never ever have too many locations of its data stored. This option allows my company to have our data stored in one location and everyone works it in real time whereas the updates go in "Real time" no matter who is working that file. This is the most awesome trick of the entire program not to mention that I can see everything that Bobbiesue is working on out west at the same time pull another activity report to see if indeed Peggy logged in for work from home at 2p yesterday as she stated she did. Its a check and balance for small businesses such as ours that runs on the honor system for telework employees. At this time, there just is not any less appropriate!

I'll start with what I would not use OneDrive for! I would not use it as a primary source for code repository, there are other more robust tools out there that can help you with storing and making available code repos. Where I would use OneDrive is in a platform for managing files, and with that I mean any file that can be saved offline and access a OneDrive access point, share, or mount. This could be personal, business, or data from a system that is saved in a standard file format. The OneDrive platform is great for documents collaboration as well, with the ability to allow for share and links to be provided to for easy access and collaboration. I would also recommend if you are someone who likes to use cloud services and rely less and less on offline storage. OneDrive excels in this area!

Dropbox
  • It enables us to share documents and workflow to all employees for whom access is allowed regardless of where in the world they may be located.
  • Dropbox Business provides a means to safely store our documents without having to have physical copies.
  • Dropbox also allows for easy organization of our documents in folders and such in the system.

Cons
Dropbox
  • I deeply dislike the navigation. I find it very clunky and hard and not intuitive. A few years ago Dropbox redesigned its navigation and I'm frequently at a loss to figure out where to access the option I need.
  • It should be quicker and easier to figure out how to send a file. I wish I could do that from the drop-down menu in my taskbar under the Dropbox logo.
  • I wish I had the option under the same drop-down menu in my taskbar under the Dropbox logo to go to where the files are on my laptop, which I find much easier to navigate.

  • I wish OneDrive would allow you to sync multiple personal/individual accounts to your computer. At this time, you can only sync one account at a time. That means that my personal OneDrive and individual corporate OneDrive can't be synced to my computer at the same time.
  • OneDrive has a file size limitation of 15 GB. I know that that is a very large amount, but I have several files that are larger than 15 GB that I wish I could get to sync. I'm hoping that file size limitation changes in the future.

Dropbox is very expensive and its price is not as competitive as it was. We are looking for an alternative that will enable as to subscribe more users at a more affordable cost. Also, we did not like Dropbox customer service, and felt that they should have found a way to compensate us for some of the damage they were responsible for when restoring our data.

Due to its tight integration into the Microsoft ecosystem and its bundling into the Office 365 service, continued use of the product is all but guaranteed. Well-designed, smart, packed with functionality without being overwhelming—Dropbox knows what they are doing and they do it well. They know what users want from the service and they make sure that all the normal use cases are intuitive and at your fingertips. Performance
Dropbox
The Dropbox site and tools load in a reasonable amount of time. I don't feel like their site and app performance is any better or worse than any other paid product that I've seen offered by any other large company. Compared to a competing product like Google Drive, the performance is probably about the same.

I give it a nine because I haven't ever had to use the support or help. I would give it a ten but since I've never had to use them, I can't really give a full review of how their support works. It's a Microsoft product so there is a wealth of information online both from Microsoft directly and from millions of users but as a corporate user we also have access to direct Microsoft support through a variety of avenues (phone, email, etc.). This makes finding answers to issues more accessible, however, it does also mean that any new feature requests will get buried.

Implementation Rating
Dropbox
The implementation was actually very simple. Again, as stated previously, the most intriguing part of the entire exercise was the implementation of the directory structure for each account. Once you design and implement it for one, it becomes quite simple to replicate for each account you implement thereafter. You just really need to take time to ensure you implement the first perfectly and those that follow on will be likewise work efficiently and easily.

Dropbox Business is dependable, adaptable, and cost-effective for our businesses. On the inside, it’s comparable to other file-sharing and storage. Also, file access and navigation are much faster. Box is another file-sharing application that is very similar to OneDrive. Box falls short of OneDrive in its syncing capabilities. OneDrive is very quick with syncing so you never have to be concerned that you are not using the most up-to-date materials. Box was always a bit delayed and did not always accurately sync across systems. OneDrive benefits from being backed by Microsoft, so you expect the connection across applications that it allows. OneDrive also provides consistency for use and intuitive understanding because of that Microsoft consistency. I'd prefer OneDrive over Box.
