Jobvite has more features than SmartRecruiters, iCIMS, and Taleo. Greenhouse looks like they will blow Jobvite out of the water.
Sr. Director, Global HR Operations & Talent Acquisition
Chose SmartRecruiters
It's the best of the bunch in that SmartRecruiters is modern, feels like a progressive tech company when you apply, thinks about integration and platform (and not just an electronic file cabinet) and there are a ton of bells and whistles yet you don't feel it. Whereas with a …
SmartRecruiters is definitely better than Taleo. I would put it as slightly below Jobvite. We still need to use Jobvite for scheduling since SmartRecruters' tool does not work. I think in a few years SmartRecruiters may surpass Jobvite. However right now because you can search …
I didn't select SmartRecruiters. Lever has better search, communication, and candidate management interfaces. Sonic has great customability. Jobscore workflow is intuitive and very easy to use. Jobvite's candidate experience is top notch. Taleo's metrics and reporting are very …
SmartRecruiters was a good fit at the time of purchase. The price was competitive and the features were exactly what we needed to move as a blended company with multiple locations, brand names, and a large employee base. The company really did a good job of helping us get …
SmartRecruiters lets you collaborate better but in every other aspect, especially flexibility and customization, it is inferior. I would easily choose a different ATS.
Director, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management & Principal Staff Officer
Chose SmartRecruiters
SmartRecruiters won our RFP process largely in part because of the candidate experience. This in conjunction with the dynamic nature of their product releases allows us to stay ahead of most recruiting trends.
I was not a decision maker at Ancestry. The person that chose SmartRecruter was Robert Merrill, the recruiting director at that time. I think it's one of the best decisions ever. Once I got over the initial learning curve and figuring out how to shut off the notification …
Jobvite and SmartRecruiters are both applicant tracking systems and talent acquisition platforms. They have users across business sizes but specialize in distinct company size segments.
Jobvite is more targeted toward the “midmarket”, or midsize and large companies. It emphasizes robust customizability and analytics. In contrast, SmartRecruiters is more focused on enterprise recruiting, with an easy to use interface and add-on capabilities designed for scalability.
Features
Both Jobvite and SmartRecruiters have robust strengths tailored to their customer bases.
Jobvite focuses on its customizable workflows and analytics to streamline recruiting processes. Reviewers highlight how the flexible workflows and processes enable a higher level of recruiter collaboration that is tailored to each company’s processes. Jobvite’s analytics and reporting also give recruiters additional visibility into their recruiting processes.
SmartRecruiters is also recognized for its collaborative capabilities. It also places significant emphasis on its scalability and support for high-growth companies. With this audience in mind, SmartRecruiters offers an easy to use interface designed for templatization and scalability.
Limitations
While Jobvite and SmartRecruiters both have strong features, there are also some limitations worth considering.
Jobvite is primarily criticized for its user management and orientation around applications. The user management capabilities are limited, as administrators lack control over recruiters’ visibility and access to candidate information. The platform is also application-centric, which can make it difficult to get a view of what a particular candidate has applied for across various positions on Jobvite. This can make sourcing candidates across roles difficult.
On the other hand, SmartRecruiters is criticized for its pricing and performance under certain conditions. Since it focuses on enterprises, its pricing model is structured for those organizations, which can be a higher financial burden on smaller organizations. Some reviewers also report performance issues, especially when many users are on the platform simultaneously or are performing high-volume tasks.
Pricing
Jovite is priced by quote from the vendor. It offers distinct modules for Hiring (the ATS), Engaging (sourcing talent), Onboarding, Career Sites, Mobile applications, and other capabilities.
SmartRecruiters is also priced by quote from the vendor, depending on the requested add-ons and the number of employees a company has. On top of the core platform, buyers can add on SmartCRM, SmartAssistant (an AI tool), SmartGlobal tailored to international recruiting, and Onboarding. Additionally, if a company is hiring for 10 roles or fewer, there is a basic package called SmartStart available for free.

Jobvite was very useful when used to onboard our new hires. Being a Human capital management company, we hire many individuals on a weekly basis so it helps us keep all of the paperwork organized and prevent any accidents when managing all of the data. Sometimes it does pose a problem for those who are not technologically savvy.
SmartRecruiters has allowed us to enable our hiring managers to self-service their requirements for recruitment, simplifying our internal processes. We have visibility of recruitment requirements and significantly improved our approvals process using the software. We have been able to configure our hiring processes relevant to different areas of the business. Collaboration for our hiring teams (managers and business partners) is simple and effective. Candidate experience is enhanced and engaging. The platform has brought many benefits to our Resourcing business partners and hiring managers. We have visibility and insightful data which has integrity, allowing us to make informed business decisions. Our offer process has seen significant improvements and provides an engaging candidate experience, previously this was a labour-intensive process that is now streamlined and automated. The recently launched Community for collaboration amongst customers is very helpful and insigtful for how other people are using the software and exploring ideas with each other
Custom fields--custom fields do not follow the candidate from hire to onboarding. This is problematic because we then have to recreate on the onboarding side to then import into our HRIS.
Onboarding picklists are time-consuming to populate. We have to enter options one at a time, rather than being able to do an import. Also, field mapping on Hire is a lot easier than having to set up tags on option sets in onboarding.
Settings page can be difficult to navigate & find what you're looking for
Job approval chains would be better with additional qualifying fields so that we can segregate different areas of the business better
The ability to edit an existing offer template in-system would improve the experience, rather than having to edit offline and upload a whole new version.
If I were to become an internal recruiter again, I would almost definitely use Jobvite. I liked the fact that we could set up any job application link on our company web site to connect directly to Jobvite. I also liked that Jobvite made employee referral easy to submit, as employee referrals tend to be the highest quality candidates. Jobvite really has all the tools a recruiter needs to get a candidate through a recruiting process quickly without anything slipping through the cracks. Even though there are a lot of features I feel can be greatly improved, I don't think there is anything on the market today that is better than Jobvite
I thoroughly enjoy using SmartRecruiters and have shared this feedback with those responsible, however I am not a decision maker in the process. I understand that at the moment there are lots of factors affecting the economy and business outcomes, so I cannot comment with certainty on the renewal of SmartRecruiters at this time, not involved in the confirmation of renewal.
After using varios ATS's in the past, I have found most comfort and ease using jobvite. This tool has made the hiring process so easy to manage and just the fact that it is not complicated to use, makes it even better
I would give this rating as overall it a great combo of all your problems. With just one click you can get away with all your problems such as recruitment, candidate update, Interview scheduling, updating candidates, reports of a job perspective, and recruiters perspective. Usability is worth of SmartRecruiters. The dashboard is also very attractive and once you open you will love working on this platform again and again. I would say it is the best platform to use once for smooth work in your organization.
Support used to be better. In the last few years, though, I feel like there has been significantly less investment in customer service. We used to have account managers who were very visible and always checking in. Also, there used to be a phone number to get around-the-clock support. I am not sure that that exists at the quality it used to
Response is normally very fast. There are times, however, when the response is not useful. It is difficult to work with the reporting and the offer letter templates, and the front line support agents usually are not very knowledgeable. Second, if there are any issues with integrations, the regular support agents will not be able to help you. You'll have to create that ticket and ask them to escalate it to an integration specialist.
Before implementing Jobvite, we had iCIMS and Kronos Workforce Ready. Neither of these products got us where we wanted to be with metrics, candidate experience, or technology. I'm sure since we left them they have updated, but we are much happier with Jobvite than others. In the process of searching for a new ATS, we attended demonstrations of 9 other applicant tracking systems and were most impressed with Jobvite.
I've really enjoyed using SmartRecruiters, but these other ATSs that we've checked out offer better reporting features and price points. Over time, we may be transitioning off of SmartRecruiters to one of these ATSs because the price is a set price where SmartRecruiters has employee-based pricing model. Also, these other software products offer better reporting features that would eliminate some of our manual tracking process that we're currently doing.
Reporting - we had none before other than manually tracking things in excel documents, now we have a full suite of reports and dashboards we can customize.
Interview Scheduling - With the candidate self-scheduling feature, we can now schedule interviews in a matter of seconds while also automating the candidate confirmation email and the calendar invites.
More detailed source tracking than I have seen in any other product allowing full visibility on who we hire, where they came from and we can now analyze our sources.
In terms of ROI, SR helped our business greatly in returning precious time to my productivity in business management, as well as my team's, so that we could get back to the main work we were hired for. The SR process did most of the heavy lifting.
