Considered Multiple Products
Litmus from Validity
Chose Litmus from Validity
I don’t have any experience with others
Chose Litmus from Validity
It seems like similar functionality, but was simpler to use alongside Salesforce.
Chose Litmus from Validity
I prefer the user interface and I like that its possible to join it with Salesforce
Chose Litmus from Validity
Haven't tried anything but Litmus. I haven't needed any other product.
Chose Litmus from Validity
I haven't - Litmus is the only product I've used and I find it works well so no need to change it!
Chose Litmus from Validity
Litmus is by far superior to Email on Acid. The features and interface offer much more than any other platform on the market.
Chose Litmus from Validity
We evaluated Litmus against Email on Acid and ultimately opted for Litmus due to its more expansive functionality and workflow. In fairness, Email on Acid offered a good rendering tool, but Litmus went further with engagement analytics, heatmaps and read time insights. …
Chose Litmus from Validity
Better user experience
Chose Litmus from Validity
Litmus is better overall. Better UI. User friendly. Relatively intuitive.
Chose Litmus from Validity
I selected Litmus because it provides an all-in-one powerful tool to update content, collaborate with teams, and analyse data seamlessly. This saves a big amount of time for the whole team. The insights are more granular allowing us to focus deeper into improvements. The …
Chose Litmus from Validity
Litmus is much more user-friendly and easier to use, and it comes with additional features that weren't available in Email on Acid.
Chose Litmus from Validity
Having used both, I definitely prefer Litmus over Email on Acid. It's a little more intuitive in terms of UI, and previews load faster. The integration with Salesforce Marketing Cloud also sets it apart further.
Chose Litmus from Validity
In my experience, Email on Acid is far less reliable for accuracy than Litmus
Chose Litmus from Validity
We've tried Email on Acid in the past and Litmus has a much more advanced offering. The user interface is superior and they are constantly innovating and rolling out new features.
Chose Litmus from Validity
I normally use Adobe Dreamweaver to build and copy the code into Litmus for testing. I have not used any other product with such functionality.
Chose Litmus from Validity
This is not applicable to my role as I have used Litmus to test emails since I have started. Because of the ease of use, timeliness, consistent quality, and affordability that Litmus offers, I haven't found the need to look at similar products or organizations. If all of these …
Chose Litmus from Validity
I've used Hubspot marketing Hub previously to build marketing emails. In my current role, I do not use Litmus to build emails, only to QA - so I can cannot compare apples to apples. But I do have some familiarity with Hubspot, and I was never able to easily share an email for …
Chose Litmus from Validity
From a platform and tool perspective, Litmus does a great job at providing rendering testing. No issues.
Chose Litmus from Validity
Litmus is our first tool and will most likely be our last.
Chose Litmus from Validity
Litmus has an easier view to see how the emails render across different email clients and seems to be very accurate to how they show up in mailboxes.
Chose Litmus from Validity
I found that Litmus was able to give a more in-depth review and feedback on accessibility issues in my campaigns, whereas SendForensics lacked any helpful features for this purpose. Litmus' features have helped us better serve all our clients' customers.
SparkPost (discontinued)
Chose SparkPost (discontinued)
Mailchimp and sendgrid are giving good services and good customer support 24/7 and ROI is increased with this as transition is very smooth.

SparkPost is very expensive and not good as much as we think and they will least worried about your mails, tickets, call and messages. …
Chose SparkPost (discontinued)
I'd say SparkPost is probably the worst option of the three email API products I've used. It has the worst customer service, the fewest features, and costs significantly more than SendGrid, even though SendGrid lets you integrate all of Twilio's other features into a broader …
Chose SparkPost (discontinued)
I selected SparkPost based on the following factors:
  • low-cost basic subscription
Chose SparkPost (discontinued)
ExactTarget, Marketo CRM. These are completely different types of systems, but their email element is similar.
Chose SparkPost (discontinued)
The free version provided by SparkPost is awesome and it lets you use the product and then decide if it fits or not for you, this version doesn't include any trial period which helps to evaluate the product and later make the decision of buying or not.
Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
Return Path is the most user-friendly and feature rich platform based on the alternatives that we have evaluated or used in the past.
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
Litmus does a great job of checking for specific things related to design or spam filtering, but the overall comprehensive approach that Everest (Return Path + 250ok) has by implementing seed listing, list validation, and pixel engagement offers a much stronger solution for …
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
I don't know of anything that has a patch on what ReturnPath—specifcially certification—offers elsewhere.
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
As a long-term Return Path client, we haven't ever used any competitor products as we always felt that what we were using was best-available. So when 250ok and Return Path were combined, the best of both is visible within the new Everest umbrella product, Validity Everest …
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
I looked into some other competitors before 250ok was brought out by Validity, but 250ok seemed like the best fit for the price and features included.
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
We have used both and they're both excellent systems. 250ok has the edge with reporting and function but Return Path has a bit more data when it comes to Sender Score data. Either is a really good system and I'd recommend either for those looking for a toolset to help resolve …
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
ReturnPath is best in the industry for managing email deliverability. There are other adequate competitive options, but ReturnPath can offer a custom solution for your brands.
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
Return Path came with our Salesforce Marketing Cloud implementation. We have not seriously looked at additional tools to complement or replace what we're getting through Return Path.
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
We have no experience with competitors in the 4 1/2 years I've been with the organization.
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
Like I said before, Return Path is really the budget bundle. You get a lot of service for how much you pay. Since I am currently at an early stage startup, we could not afford Litmus, so having Return Path is crucial. The partnership with SalesForce also allowed us to get it at …
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
It’s cheaper than its competitors and it has dmarc tracking.
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
After using Litmus for a few years, we enjoyed their feature set but were not pleased with price and feature changes. Email on Acid was a good choice for testing your email templates but didn't have enough features for email deliverability monitoring.

Between Return Path and …
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
250ok provides much greater insight into email deliverability, compared to email marketing platforms. Typically, email marketing platforms only provide you the following: open rate, clickthrough rate, spam complaints, and bounces. 250ok actually shows you where you're landing …
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
Return Path and 250ok are meant to do same things but in slightly different ways. Both use seed lists but RP uses panel data while 250ok uses engagement data. RP offers certification and is more expensive while 250ok is more affordable.
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
Return Path was the first solution that we looked into based on the native integration with Salesforce Marketing Cloud. That was the biggest selling point for us. We didn't do a lot of research on other products but 250ok was one we did look at but ultimately liked Return Path …
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
Goodmail is no longer available. eDataSource - competitive research of other competitors emails to analyze in one platform - comparable - more money.
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
We use Exact Target every day as well - While we use these 2 for different functions - both are great to have and essential to our team.
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
When reviewing competitors to do the audit and to give us insight into our deliverability, Return Path seemed to have a more strategic sense of the issue and they were able to dive deep to get to the root cause, whereas some of the competitors where diagnosing on the phone …
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
I used to host and manage email internally. I moved this into the cloud with an ExactTarget email marketing hub to manage all of the email being sent. The plus for Return Path is that the white listing features offered are not offered by other vendors or not to the same degree …
Chose Everest (Return Path + 250ok)
We looked at 250ok and Pivotal Veracity. Each has their own perks. Return Path has the best inbox monitoring by far but is the most expensive and that isn't even close. 250ok has the best blacklist monitoring capabilities and was the best priced but the inbox monitoring wasn't …

Proofing your emails is necessary. This is a tool that allows you to see how your email not only renders on multiple devices but how it performs. Some email building platforms will tell you their drag and drop templates are ready to go, however they stop short of analyzing accessibility, checking links, load speed among other things. I've also experienced drag and drop template issues as new email clients are released. Litmus provides peace of mind that you did your due diligence on crafting your email. While Litmus does provide some reporting you will not see every typical analytic an email report offers. However, you can use your Litmus data to enhance your email reports which in turn creates a robust view of email performance.

SparkPost is great for automated sending of transactional emails. It appears to be designed for developers—it does not allow the creation and sending of emails from within the SparkPost user interface. If you're building a software system that needs to send emails, SparkPost is a great choice, but it is not a CRM.

Pros
  • The AQ and Approval Process is very seamless. We have a brand team of 20 people, and there are mostly five emails being deployed every day across 3 Hotels and 30 restaurants.
  • The Preview of the email template on all devices, ranging from mobile phones to laptops and iPads, which we can also check based on ISPs like Gmail, Outlook, and AOL, is a very good feature that we use for each email.
  • The Analytics tools we use for each email to create a tracking link to insert into our email for a send is a great feature. It helps us to see the email performance based on ISP clients.
  • For every edits, we receive an email on our inbox, which is very helpful.

  • Inbox placement data using seed list: It tells you about your inbox placements, spam, missing, and complaints. Very useful data that tells you that you are on the road!
  • Sender score for all I.Ps: Tells you quickly about your I.P score, helps you work fast as you know everything is fine, saves a lot of time.
  • Online support: Support from specialist, have an expert to guide in tough times to suggest options or to support your action strategy.

Cons
  • When creating a tracking code, I would like to see a button that says "Create New" without having to return to the main page.
  • When creating a tracking code, I would like to have no expiration option.
  • There is a little bit more personalization for the personalization content (being able to access the code HTML and not only the snippet).

  • A horrifying about-face on pricing after guaranteeing a lifetime rate.
  • A steep drop in customer care and customer service quality.
  • Increased prices compared to competitors.
  • Clumsy email templating system.
  • Lack of integration with other messaging systems.

  • A good tutorial on how to leverage it would be helpful. Navigating is easy, but there's a lot of information and it takes a while to understand what everything means.
  • The reporting feature is intimidating, creating anew one isn't as user-friendly as the rest of the interface.
  • I understand what seeds are, but for new users, a very basic tutorial on what they are and why they are used would be helpful. Right now you have to have a baseline understanding of them before using it.

I love using Litmus and find that it has been a huge component of the success of our email campaigns. I can't say enough great things about the platform, and I have seen firsthand how it has saved me time building and sending fully optimized email campaigns. I would absolutely renew again.

Return Path helps us stay ahead of the curve and are a partner in helping us optimize our email program. They also keep us up-to-date on email laws and the changing ecosystem so that we are prepared and ready for changes, whether they're behavioral, legal or technology-driven. I definitely consider Return Path a necessary ingredient to sustaining a healthy email program.

Usability
Litmus has integrations that make the software an integrated part of my work every day. Being able to test right within my email builder is just brilliant. Daily I also use the web interface to review analytics and spam testing. Overall it is one of the pieces of software I use daily without any complaints or issues.

I find it fairly easy to use, though the interface is a bit clunky and I may be missing some revolutionary use because it's lost in the clutter.

Reliability and Availability
We have never had a problem with Litmus being unavailable so I would say their availability is fantastic. There might have been one time years ago that the site was down briefly but it also might have been a server issue on my end. Either way, Litmus was back up and running in a very short time

Performance
As with all technology, there are inevitably use-cases where you are unable to get to your original goal without some good old-fashioned experimenting. Some situations will (and are) more urgent which complicates an effective integration of a new process or a new team using an existing process but the "issues" are regularly resolved by re-starting the process specific to when Litmus is introduced to a project. If it doesn't come out the way you're anticipating, run it again and verify there is an issue before declaring all is lost

I am always so so impressed with the litmus support team. They are not only prompt but attentive and offer very personalised responses and support

Would give it a zero if I could. Their customer service used to be incredible; fast response times, really hands-on with their users, and a pretty regular feedback process. They sent me an awesome t-shirt that became part of my go-to climbing gear. But for the past year, their response times went way down, their customer service was less helpful and generally a lot more rude, and they haven't asked for customer input once since their leadership change

Absolutely fantastic support. It runs circles around the competition. They regularly reach out and chat, even if it's just to see if there's any issues we need to discuss. They clearly want the business and don't forget you once you sign the contract which is an issue with other similar services.

I didn’t really personally participate much in the implementation of Litmus, but from what I observed during the process, it was a smooth process with minimal disruptions. The team was able to get up and running quickly, and the platform’s user-friendly interface made onboarding fairly easy for everyone involved from the start.

The insights are more granular allowing us to focus deeper into improvements. I'd say SparkPost is probably the worst option of the three email API products I've used. It has the worst customer service, the fewest features, and costs significantly more than SendGrid, even though SendGrid lets you integrate all of Twilio's other features into a broader set of communications media. In addition, the API and documentation were easy enough to use and integrate, but the templating system has also caused a lot of headaches for us.

Scalability
With our enterprise account, scalability is not an issue. I have not yet seen or heard of significant issues with user access, API connections for integrations etc. This includes down time for "Scheduled Maintenance" as some providers call them, Litmus has the technology backing to support a global team with a 24-hour workday across regions

  • Litmus has been a huge time-saver for our email designer. We send around 40–50 emails a week in over 10 different markets, so manually testing each one just isn’t realistic. With Litmus, she can skip the testing process and spend more time optimizing our emails for better customer engagement.
  • We’re just starting to explore Litmus’ personalization features, and they’re already proving valuable. After identifying a gap in our email personalization, the built-in templates are making it easy to start delivering more tailored, customer-focused content.
  • Continuing education through Litmus has been a valuable resource for our team. The articles take a little time to get through, but the insights are always worth it—they’ve helped us turn ideas into real, actionable steps to improve our email strategy and content.
