Way more user-friendly and easier to use than Microsoft products for collaboration. Permissions are easier to set than on SharePoint, multiple people can work on the same document without version control issues that often plague our teams. I will create an entire landing board …

Miro is by far the best for visualization of processes. Nothing is quite like it, however for storing information and important files, I've tried to do this but it just doesn't work out as well as having clearly labeled and/or colored folders in SharePoint for example. Some …

When it comes to process visualization, Miro is the finest by far. Nothing compares to it, however I've attempted to use it in place of properly labeled and/or colored folders in SharePoint, for example, and it just doesn't work out this way for keeping information and critical …

We have replaced Microsoft Visio with Miro. I still do a lot of my wireframes in Balsamiq. However, I do plan on looking into Miro wireframe to see if it has what I need to switch to using it as my primary tool for putting together wireframes and presenting them to stakeholders …

Compared to tools like Notion and Confluence, Miro provides a far greater level of flexibility with the way visuals can be organized. This allows notes to be organized in a mind map style for easy association. However, this flexibility in visualization results in a lack of …

Miro works well with each of these other apps but we use these other apps to fill the gaps that Miro doesn't currently fill.

We are switching to Figma at our organization. I don’t know the reasons why.

Miro has more capabilities. FigJam is sometimes easier to integrate bc our team uses Figma a lot. But Miro is better when expanding out to people outside our department.

I used Miro before and I’m used to it now. I also pay for a personal licence. I’m getting familiar with Kahoot.

Generally speaking, Miro is the best choice for large group efforts when compared with the selected products. Miro Whiteboards allow for smooth and easy collaboration across multiple groups since many different file types can be uploaded and added to a space so other colleagues …

Initially Mural was the preferred option, but ultimately, the only benefit Mural had the double click option to spawn new stickies, so we quickly went away from it since Miro had far more features that were useful to us. It's been a while since then to be fair.

Microsoft
Very user friendly. If you're already using M365 products it offers great integration! If you're using Azure AD it offers SSO for IAM and integrates nicely with Azure AD Groups which can then be used for Access management. As our IT / Azure Administrator, I particularly like the "sharing link" options where you can send a link with an expiration date and not have to remember to remove the link / access after a project / business case scenario is over.

Miro
Miro is great for both collaborative use cases and personal information bases. I really appreciate being able to work asynch with my team and have them utilize something like a voice track to explain their thought process or use case for the content they add to a board-- it also helps cut down on the time needed to communicate changes that different team members desire. It's amazing to be able to integrate other tools such as documentation on Confluence or have Jira tickets directly linked in product roadmaps or process flows. We use Miro for everything from showing the intersections between different teams and their responsibilities to complex quarterly planning and UX research involving 5+ departments. However, it's less appropriate if you need to use a complex variety of shapes or want to adjust design elements in a detailed way. For example, the rounded square could really benefit from being able to change the degree of roundness in the corners, but sadly it's not an option

Pros
Microsoft
  • Making collaboration easier via a better connection between accounts. You can share anything from a file to events with just a couple of clicks.
  • All services are connected and switching between services is a breeze[.]
  • Solutions to the majority of everyday business problems.

  • Miro shares and tracks changes among my students extremely well.
  • It's awesome to be able to "bring everyone to me" while teaching. With this feature, I can make changes on my laptop while teaching, and my interactive whiteboard in front of the class will follow my changes in real-time.
  • I like being able to see where on the board each of my students is working or reading to see where their attention is focused.

Cons
Microsoft
  • There are far too many good features to choose from, and advanced features are noticeably absent.
  • There is room for improvement in terms of integration with non-Microsoft products, as well as developer Story.
  • It is challenging to provide easier access via file explorer while also granting outside users and guests access.

Miro
  • Often, too often, the dictionary window pops up when I am trying to move or interact with content. (frequent low level frustration)
  • The limit on text character content seems artificial and is frequently problematic. I can see limiting image and file sizes for memory space conservation but text limits seem arbitrary and way to low.
  • I wish text and table content were more easily copy/pasted (or imported/exported) into other programs without funky spacing and bullet issues. Since Miro is so central to workflow on many parts of a project there is lots of back and forth of content and having better seamlessness wound be great.
  • We do most everything manually and rarely use any templates or AI clustering and themes, etc. The few times ive tried it had mixed results so ... I'm sure that tech is improving often.

Microsoft
It's integral to our business. It's already included with most of the Office 365 licensing we buy, so the cost is effectively zero. It stores our files, it is the foundation for custom applications, and Microsoft only continues to enhance its functionality and its connections to other Microsoft tools. SharePoint just keeps getting better and better.

There is no other tool like Miro for process Mapping in particular. I've tried PowerPoint, Word, and other programs, but when collaborating virtually on how to improve a process, Miro has all of the tools and more to enable successful mapping. The colors, different types of shapes and text books, along with the ability to integrate different documents and other functionality, make it ideal for this purpose. In a virtual world, it's a must-have.

Usability
Microsoft
No usability issues reported. Individual teams also have allocated areas which replace legacy shared drives on local LANs. Access to Sharepoint resources is fully integrated with corporate Active Directory with additional two-factor authentication required for administrative users. Users have access to Microsoft Services Hub which allows you to create, manage, and track support requests while staying current on Microsoft technologies with access to select self-paced learning paths

Miro
It's pretty easy to use. My gripes are with some small idiosyncrasies with selection behavior with objects and editing text. When I move an object, it automatically de-selects it when I am not done with it. I have to click to select again. Text control is challenging and could be improved. It could use a little more styling capability. It's also weird that it behaves differently in a shape then when using the text tool.

Miro
I only give a 9/10 because of the speed at which it loads. I have never experienced issues with Miro logging me out early, or some other technical issue causing the program to crash, or even it just loading in perpetuity without ever actually coming up (unlike other programs such as SFDC). It take a minute for all of my boards to come up after I click on it in my favorites, but besides that, it's all good.

Miro
I took the loading quickly to be related to availability which I commented on before, so ditto with those comment on load time here. Although to reemphasize, Miro doesn't crash or just refuse to load like some other programs. The weak point of Miro for me is integration of files like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint (especially the later two). When you embed these, it gets slow, and complicated to bring them up while you're in the application.

Support for SharePoint is quite good. Microsoft provides good support. Microsoft offers
  • Quick turnaround time for issues
  • A range of support services
  • Access to a network of resources
  • Escalation of issues
  • Ongoing development and commitment to produce enhancement
The majority of support is required for initial installation. Once complete and the system is operating we have had very few support issues.

The support staff at Miro are fantastic. Whenever I have had an issue, they have been timely and helpful with their response. They are also very knowledgeable and go out of their way to not only help, but offer proactive training sessions on different topics and new functionality so everyone can try it out.

In-Person Training

The face to face training I received was on SharePoint Administration. It was rushed as there was a lot of information to cover and the application of the labs weren't that great either. I like to be able to relate what I am learning to what I am currently doing.

Online Training
Microsoft
I like to learn at my own pace and online training allows for that. Additionally, you can skip through pieces of content that you already know or are already comfortable with. Microsoft actually offers great videos on their website for basic fundamental SharePoint Training. I have used these training videos in some of my own training sessions with end users.

There was a series of webinars which Miro hosted with our organization that went over the basics, then progressively became more advanced with additional sections. The instructors were knowledgeable, and provided examples throughout the sessions, as well as answered peoples' questions. There was ample time and experience on the calls to cover a range of topics. The instructors were also very friendly and sociable, as well as honest. Of course Miro isn't a "God-tool" that does absolutely everything, but the instructors were aware and emphasized the strengths where Miro had them and sincerely accepted feedback.

Miro
From an enterprise behind the scenes perspective, our implementation was fairly smooth. We have identified some pain points based on Miro's use of emails for user IDs as people's emails may change (marriage, divorce, etc.) and when we update that on our end, it doesn't track through to Miro's SSO and license assignment. From the perspective of user adoption, I would have loved to see more people jump on board right away, but our staff needed to see benefits on projects and that is growing so our adoptions rate is as well.

I have not encountered anything like Miro. I wouldn't want to use anything but Miro. I used Mind Map once and it was static, and formulaic. Mind map was too restrictive for me to want to use. It did not allow me to be creative like Miro. I chose Miro because it was intuitive, it augmented my physical whiteboard, and I realized I didn't have to photograph my physical white board to capture and present content.

Miro
Miro is great for scaling. In every department and subdivision across my entire organization, there is someone using it. From Sales to marketing, to manufacturing and operations; and even in legal and finance, there isn't a process or a department that is not using Miro, and if they aren't, they're missing out! Even at the highest to the lowest levels of the organization, it is essential for virtual collaboration.
