Squarespace has become a go-to platform for small businesses, creative professionals, and marketers looking to build and manage visually appealing websites. With its well-designed templates and extensive availability of designer fonts, Squarespace allows users to create a professional-looking website with ease. Users appreciate the platform's intuitive interface and drag-and-drop functionality, making it accessible for both beginners and design professionals. Squarespace also offers useful tools like Analytics to track website traffic and sales data, as well as an Abandoned Cart feature to follow up with potential customers. Furthermore, Squarespace's integration with payment systems like Stripe and PayPal simplifies the process of setting up e-commerce capabilities on a website. Whether it's showcasing products, maintaining portfolios, or running corporate websites, Squarespace provides a time-saving and cost-effective solution for individuals and businesses alike.

Intuitive Interface: Users have consistently praised Squarespace's intuitive interface, with many stating that it has made website creation and management effortless. Numerous reviewers have mentioned that they can easily navigate through different sections of their websites and perform tasks such as managing portfolios, blog posts, and responding to comments seamlessly. This user-friendly interface has greatly enhanced users' efficiency in managing their websites and engaging with their audience.

Wide Selection of Templates: The extensive collection of beautifully designed templates in Squarespace has received high praise from users. Many reviewers appreciate the wide variety of options available, as well as the frequent addition of new templates. These templates are seen as time-saving features for users with limited design background and coding knowledge. Thanks to the intuitive nature of these templates, users find them extremely easy to work with and customize according to their preferences.

Great Customer Support: Squarespace's customer support has been highly regarded by users for its helpfulness and responsiveness. Reviewers mention that the support team is not only friendly but also goes above and beyond to assist them whenever issues arise. Users appreciate having responsive email replies and live chat options available for support. The excellent customer service provided by Squarespace ensures that users feel supported throughout their website building journey

Cons:

  1. Limited customization options: Users have expressed frustration with the limited customization options in Squarespace, particularly in terms of design and layout. Several users have mentioned that the templates provided by Squarespace can look somewhat generic and lack flexibility for creating more complex websites.
  2. Difficulties in navigation and finding features: Some users find it difficult to navigate Squarespace's user interface and locate certain features. There is a learning curve associated with the software, making it challenging for users to find their way around and access specific functionalities.
  3. Lack of customer support options: Customer service being available only through email has been seen as a drawback by some users. They feel that having additional support channels, such as live chat or phone support, would be beneficial for resolving issues or seeking assistance more efficiently.

Based on user reviews, users recommend using Squarespace for any level of web experience and most businesses. They find Squarespace easy to use and navigate, and highly recommend it for beginners. Users suggest exploring different templates and reaching out to support if needed. Squarespace is also recommended for small businesses, ecommerce, organizations, and artists. • Our direct to consumer selling platform is done primarily via our website so Squarespace is the major player here. We do sell on Amazon and eBay as well, but the majority of our direct to consumer revenue is generated via our website with Squarespace.
  • Due to the above-mentioned deficiencies in making shipping costs product specific we do see a small percentage of loss in individual orders depending on where an order is being shipped to. We have to make sure our shipping prices are not exorbitant so in some cases the cost to ship a product is greater than what we charge the customer. This could be rectified is Squarespace would enhance the way they allow users to implement shipping charges.
  • The clean look of the website, the ease of creating new content and the ability to add new products in the Commerce Advanced plan has surely allowed us to grow our sales with a clean look and added product offerings. Hard to measure though how much the can be attributed though directly to Squarespace.

  • My clients are very happy with the results they're getting from their websites.
  • They don't really manage the sites themselves, so can't really speak to the ease of use for them. However, I find it relatively easy to build good looking sites for them. This in turn makes it economical for them.
  • Making changes and updating their sites can be done relatively quickly. We can embed whatever elements they need, like video.
  • We can easily manage updates to their on-site SEO.

  • I spend zero time on maintenance now. It's really nice to finish a project and feel that my client is self-sufficient.
  • Revision processes are a lot easier than they are with custom-code websites because I can simply do one round of revisions, then turn the site over to my client, so they can do what they want with it.
  • Visual editing means I can simply start designing in the CMS itself, which saves time by cutting out the prototyping and coding phases.

  • Increased Web Interaction: We migrated to Squarespace from using a customized WordPress template. Squarespace built and configured a clean and functional website for our church that must be more welcoming to visitors, as we have seen an increase in interaction with our existing members (signing up for events via website) and new visitors reaching out (via contact us form).
  • Easy to Manage: Before switching to Squarespace, due to the complexity of adding updates or announcements to our website, all updates needed to be run through a volunteer who managed our website. Now we can assign multiple contributors to update information for our events, distributing the workload.

  • Positive in the way that our organization has a web presence. I felt that Squarespace was a good decision because of its expandability to a more complex site if we ever needed it.
  • Dealing with customer care has been a big setback timewise. I don't feel as though Squarespace cares about my business when they don't respond in a timely manner.

  • Squarespace has allowed me to upsell clients from a rebrand to a rebrand + branded site, in some cases allowing me to double my revenue.
  • My knowledge of Squarespace (and my ability to walk clients through managing their own sites after the launch) has allowed me to switch clients from other services such as WordPress. Becoming comfortable with Squarespace took less than a month.
  • Squarespace's quick learning curve cuts down on trial and error and troubleshooting time, making my business more efficient.

  • Our main objective for having a website is having an online presence where potential clients can view a small sample of my work (an e-portfolio vs. a website where photo editors can view, download and license images; we learned the hard way the latter platform is an invitation to have your work stolen). In this regard SquareSpace has been perfect for our goals, providing such a presence, and allowing editors to directly contact us with photo requests. The ease of updating the site's pages, and especially the Featured Gallery, has been a major reason for us staying with SquareSpace for about 3 years.

  • Presentation: Our Squarespace-based site is cleaner and smoother than our old site. This is a positive.
  • Responsiveness: We can quickly build, add, and edit pages. Reducing our workload. This is also a positive.

  • The Acquity appointment scheduling platform allows people to book directly on a Squarespace site, which helps keep more of each purchase as opposed to going to a third-party ticket sales platform.
  • WordPress can be cheaper and has MUCH more functionality—plus it is open-source. I opt to go with WordPress whenever possible.
  • As a web developer, I tend not to recommend Squarespace due to the lack of customization and uniqueness when establishing a web presence.

  • Not sure about actual numbers, but the sheer number of hours that I do NOT have to spend updating plugins, maintaining security, software upgrades, and so on are probably up there. I never have to wonder if my site is down.

  • Most clients find that their Squarespace websites don't do well in search ranking.
  • Anything beyond a very simplistic basic website isn't possible with Squarespace, causing many to switch from it in order to attain the results they want.
  • The lack of customer service makes it hard to resolve issues.

  • Our Squarespace website has saved us thousands of dollars in our technical development budget, as we were able to build and support our website internally instead of outsourcing the project to an agency.
  • In combination with Hubspot, we've been able to increase our inbound website leads by 150% over the last year.
