We were one of the first customers in country and invested on the product since the initial version. We have started to use the product for IT use cases first and then distribute it to retail business lines. There are two main use cases that Striim was taking our interest;<br>- It is the platform itself and provide you the kitchen for your data regardless of the what kind and format it is.<br>- Change data capture is the key feature which natively supported for main stream RDMBS used in our premises.
  • It is the platform itself and provide you the kitchen for your data regardless of the what kind and format it is. There are out of the box adapters/connectors and you can also develop your own adaptor in case of integration to legacy data sources.
  • Change data capture feature is seamlessly working on SQL and Oracle which covers almost 90% of our databases within the bank.
  • The web interface of the platform and the realtime dashboard needs to be improved. On the other hand, there are plenty of other dashboard options, maybe you do not stick with the Striim dashboard functionality.
  • The community power somehow should be cultivated. You are not able to access tech docs or code samples over the internet.
Below samples are the well suited use cases;
- Change data capture feature seamlessly works on popular RDMS. You can make enrichments on several data sources within the same Striim application.
- You can install stand alone agents and start streaming log files to Striim servers. This is mainly useful for security operations or audit trail use cases.

Striim is being used to replicate data 1. From Oracle sources to Kudu using Oracle CDC and Oracle Golden Gate trail reader in near real time. We also use Striim to load data from flat files to Kudu (on our BigData platform). It is being used only by one department. Reports from Tableau will access the data on Kudu. Tableau is currently being used from all departments across our organization..
We would like to have the data on Kudu to be as accurate and updated to latest time. Striim actually solves this issue. There is a feature called GGTrail reader which is faster than Oracle CDC - it creates less load on server (caused by logminer).
  • GoldenGate Trail reader which iss faster than Oracle CDC. It does not used logminer, hence there is no load on source Oracle database.
  • Easy installation and upgrade in 5 minutes
  • Support is very good. Fast and user friendly.
  • License a bit expensive
We load hundreds of tables from Oracle to Kudu. The replication is very fast. It recovers within seconds once the pipeline is restarted.

Faster, checkpointing better. CDC works well. The loading is faster. Easy upgrade and installation. Uses less resource.
