Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We use Paylocity to pay all of our employees, from the Executive Team to the Part Time Hourly Sports Instructors. This product allows all of our employees to be easily onboarded through the Paylocity App and once moved into HR & Payroll, they are able to clock in/out on their phone. For the Exempt employees, they can easily make changes to their profile and request time off and it flows through to the proper payroll.

Pros

  • Onboarding
  • Ability to send messages to Employees
  • Help setting up new states

Cons

  • Not enough ability for employees to change information through the app - not all employees have access to a computer
  • The employee cannot request some timecard changes through the app - not all employees have access to a computer
  • I really dislike that when I sort pre-employees in the Onboarding que, and then go into a record, the sort goes away. When you have 70 people in Onboarding, it would be great to come out of that profile to the same "sort" so you could keep your place if you were working your way down the list.
  • Has helped with Multi-State New Hire
  • Has helped with RAPID growth management
  • Has reduced errors in new hire information
MOST of the workflows have helped with time management.
We have just started using the Survey's more often and they have been wonderful to take the Pulse of the company. We are currently working on getting employees to use the Recognition.
I have been pleasantly surprised with how much more user friendly Paylocity is

Do you think Paylocity delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Paylocity's feature set?

Yes

Did Paylocity live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Paylocity go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Paylocity again?

Yes

There are some minor issues that I dislike, but overall, I feel like it really is a great system. I have worked YEARS in ADP and Paycom, and I have been pleasantly surprised with how Paylocity meets and/or exceeds some of the products in those systems.

Using Paylocity

472 - They are users of the platform. They use Time & Labor to clock in/out and we upload templates with many different lump sum "Rate Codes". We also use it for compliance - we have a contract with MLB that requires certain training and certifications - we can track the compliance through Paylocity.
4 - We have 1 HR & Payroll Specialist that uses the platform (me), 1 Human Resources Generalist, once Accounting Manager and 1 Human Resources Contractor. Our CFO is new, but he is starting to dig into some of the reporting that is offered and he really likes the Expense Report Module.
  • Payroll
  • Human Resources
  • Accounting/General Ledger
  • Recruiting
  • Benefits
  • Expense Reports
We are entrenched with many modules, and use Paylocity as a portal to Benefits.

Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors

  • Scalability
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
We needed something that was easy for our employees to use. They are our (Human Resources) customers so their experience comes first and foremost. The App makes this easy for them to clock in and out while working and to transfer from one cost center to another when needed. They can also see their assigned Tasks.
We would start with all of the modules that we need, rather than adding them later and experiencing some issues.

Paylocity Implementation

Paylocity Training

Easy to assign - lots of trainings to look through. Many, many options for all aspects of the platform.

Configuring Paylocity

Some parts are easy to set up, and other's are NOT
To make the Reporting more user friendly.
Yes - we have customized the interface extensively - Reporting is not easy to do - Portal/Client Hub is VERY easy to use.
Yes - we have added extensive custom code - Lots of custom cost centers

Paylocity Support

USUSALLY, the Customer Service is Off the Charts amazing - but every once in a while, you get someone who doesn't want to help.
ProsCons
Quick Resolution
Knowledgeable team
Immediate help available
Quick Initial Response
Not kept informed
Need to explain problems multiple times
Not to my knowledge.
MOST of the time! The last one was with Benefits and it was quick and finished.

Using Paylocity

The Timecard "Piece Rate" adjustments adds hours AND Adjustments to timecard - even though people are clocked in and out. It doubles their hours. I have to do a workaround each pay period because of this. No other answer/option available.
ProsCons
Easy to use
Technical support not required
Well integrated
Feel nervous using
Lots to learn
  • Most Timecard Functions
  • Most Profile Functions
  • REPORTING
  • Timecard Piece Rate Adjustments
Yes - Works well most of the time

Paylocity Reliability

Easy to ramp up with our "Seasonal" employees
Very seldom not available for any length of time.
Some days it is very slow to load pages

Integrating Paylocity

Basing this off of Checkr alone
  • Checkr
  • Sage
Checkr is great, Sage is harder to upload/download data
  • File import/export
No

Relationship with Paylocity

I was not here for that conversation - Paylocity was already in place when I was hired on as the HR & Payroll Specialist.
Was all set up before I started - I was not yet employed when Paylocity was set up for our Company
N/A We do not use the processional services
Unknown - I was not yet employed by our Company when Paylocity was set up
Rates went up and we didn't receive a notice beforehand.

Upgrading Paylocity

Yes - I do not like the new Payroll Entry module, there is less control over how things are shown. There are other changes that I see are coming, that I am excited about.
  • Streamlined Time & Labor
  • New Reports that our supervisors love
  • Better visibility for our accounting dept
  • More information in the same place (not looking at 3 different tabs)
  • Easier access with the "HOME" tab
  • Better reports
