Overall Satisfaction with UKG Pro
We use UKG Pro as our source of truth for all employee and resource data, processing U.S. and Canada payroll, Performance Management, Onboarding, UTM, and U.S. Benefit enrollment. One major business problem for us is integrating our Non-north American countries like the UK and India into the system. Multiple modules, including Onboarding, Core, and Compensation, are not set up to handle this, so we have many manual processes in place. The 2nd one is related, which is using the compensation module (which we no longer have in our contract) because it also cannot handle multi-currency in the same budget templates. We have had to handle this manually as well outside of the system and have looked at external comp. Tools. The 3rd issue is the tracking of Contractor data. Again, Core is not set up to handle this, and after working with UKG consultants, we had to shoehorn the data into our UK component company, which is messy.
Pros
- Allows us to create BI reports and then schedule them to be released to identified individuals.
- Integrates with other HR systems (although getting through that process is extremely painful).
- UKG Community resources and connections.
Cons
- Ability to capture global employee data as required without creating platform-configured fields or manually entering data. We just implemented India, and we cannot edit Onboarding to capture necessary data, so we had to create a workaround for employees to go through Onboarding and then go back into Core and enter the rest of the data. We also had to develop new PF fields on the "other country info" page. The employees cannot edit this page, nor can we, as administrators, import data into it. Therefore, we had to enter the data for 70 employees manually and will have to do it again for two more groups of 65-70 employees.
- The compensation module cannot handle multi-currency or salaried and hourly employees on the same worksheet. It also can't handle a somewhat complex incentive matrix.
- Need for termination wizard and automated process - Employees need to access their data upon termination. Still, we have to manually go in and give them direct login access after they terminate. There should be an automated process behind the scenes that does this automatically. The wizard should confirm that they have submitted a personal email address.
- Please train your customer response employees better. While management seems to have a great handle on tools, the people we work with are very unskilled, and we often go in circles.
- There needs to be a course or something that is "technical speak for the non-technical person". Not all of us have a system administrator and often are completely overwhelmed by the tech speak when it comes to integrations and reporting etc.
- We have been able to integrate tools and create workflows that have directly reduced the workload of team members in HR, Finance, and IT, reducing our need to hire additional staff.
- Onboarding has helped us to have a better new hire experience and keep them engaged.
It's always easier for employees to go to one place vs. many for HR-related tasks. We use Core, UTM, Performance Management, Benefits Admin, and Onboarding. Having all of this data in one place is helpful for employee experience and our reporting. However, pulling data from different modules requires BI technical knowledge that my team doesn't have, so it's frustrating. It would be easier if you could just pick the fields you need no matter what module they come from.
Our best example is the integrations we have created with our third-party vendors - including recognition, L&D, and IT. Creating these workflows and removing the manual updating of these systems has saved HR, Finance, IT, and others a ton of time by automating the process.
We initially selected Ultimate Software with plans to use all of the integrated modules. Also, being able to process U.S. and Canadian payroll was a must. We liked the tool's flexibility. Now that we've used UKG for 5 years, I'm not sure we would have made the same choice, as we've dropped multiple modules that didn't ultimately fit our needs. We also feel like we were "sold" things during the sales process that didn't come to fruition.

UKG Pro Training
No, it was not easy to learn without training. I would NOT recommend that.
- Online Training
Using UKG Pro
900 - Core, Payroll, Performance Management, Benefit Admin, Time Tracking, Finance.
1 - We don't have a specific person with the technical skills required; we have learned them "on the job." UKG does not provide enough support for companies like us.
- Global employee data and payroll.
- Talent Management, skills tracking, succession planning - more robust options are needed here.
- Improve Onboarding with an eye toward the Global use.
- Nothing special.
- Some of the new products are intriguing - however, we would like to see UKG put time an effort into fixing the products they all ready have.
- One View may be an option - if some of the Global areas can be improved.
UKG Pro Support
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Kept well informed | Poor followup Less knowledgeable Escalation required Difficult to get immediate help Need to explain problems multiple times |
I'm not sure this was an option. If it was, we didn't know what we would need at the time. I'm not sure why we should have to spend more on support.
Yes - We've got examples on both sides. Some are resolved, and some we are told can never be fixed.
There have been shining stars here and there.
Using UKG Pro
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Like to use | Requires technical support Slow to learn Feel nervous using Lots to learn |
- I think all modules have some challenges to them.
- UTM is not user friendly, the UI is dated and reporting is terrible.
- Any kind of global company set up.
- The flexibility of adding data fields. Platform-configured fields are cumbersome and difficult to add to BI reports.
Yes - It works fine. Not much use for our workforce.
