Automox
The reason I would score it a nine is because of the inability to “run as.” Since it only runs as a system, this makes some tasks impossible. It would be beneficial to have an encrypted set of credentials in the UI that we can use to “run as,” and also the ability to run as the current user with elevated permissions would be nice. In terms of patching, Automox does a good job, and being able to use Automox to run PowerShell on a computer without needing to open up ports for WinRM is a great feature.

TeamViewer
TeamViewer is excellent for accessing remote devices and servers. However, customer support is slightly difficult because the initial setup is a little complex for regular users. Take, for example, the AnyDesk setup; it is plug-and-play when downloading it from their site. We can connect to less tech-savvy customers without requiring them to complete the installation process.

  • All the great information provided within one single device

TeamViewer
  • Device compatibility: It is compatible with multiple devices such as Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android & IOS, allowing you to stay connected regardless of which device you are using.
  • File Transfer: Files are transferred quickly without needing a third-party app, making it time efficient.
  • Training programs: Reduces the learning difficulty for remote employees & new employees, making coaching more interactive and efficient.
  • Customer Support: They are very good with their customer support. Issues are resolved quickly, making it easy for their users to work.

Cons
Automox
  • I would like to see more detailed error messages when a patch fails. Perhaps at which step it failed at, downloading, installing, etc.
  • It would be helpful if we could see what stage of installing or downloading a patch is at through a percentage or status bar instead of a vague "Installing..." message
  • It would also be helpful to have a way to kill or end scripts that are stuck instead of waiting 24 hours for them to automatically end. Something like an "End all actions" button for endpoints on our side would be extremely helpful when testing a script that had a bad line or action in it.

TeamViewer
  • Now, it doesn’t work in fast network environments: sometimes, data is delayed during transfer.
  • There are a small number of ways that a user is allowed to change the interface on the device.
  • Some minor increases in difficulty with advanced functions of the application.

TeamViewer
We need this tool in our day to day business. It is what we do all day remoting into clients devices. In this day and age we can access devices all over the world as long as we have secure internet connection. It certainly saves money in gas, and even if you are away you can help.

Usability
Automox
Automox has excellent dashboards that help to identify key performance indicators of where your patching program stands, what to prioritize, and what issues you have. Where Automox struggles is easily identifying what issues are preventing successful patching, seeing what manual patches are successfully installing/not installing, and easily remediating issues with installation issues.

TeamViewer is a reliable and really strong tool for accessing remote IT platforms secure and fast. We don't know any product that provide us such strong functionality to make our life as a internationally recognized MES provider with DIAMES with an international clientele so easy. We look forward for any new TeamViewer functionality that supports us even more.

In my experience, they were responsive but the fixes were more like bandaids than a fix for the underlying problems which they admitted were on their end.

the few times i have had to contact teamviewer support, they were very responsive and give me quick answers and seemed to understand my problems quickly and easily. I did not have to sit on the phone for hours on hold or get passed around to multiple phone support techs before finding a solution to my issues, so i would rate their support very highly.

As expected without any problem! Alternate in-person training is another efficient way to learn how a product works. There are many third party supporters for TeamViewer courses available that can give additional ideas how to use TeamViewer for specific functions and features as we did require in respect of our usage.

I have never used the online training either. I have watched a few informational videos that were helpful when learning how to do a specific procedure within TeamViewer and get the most out of the software by utilizing one of the many features that are available with the software. Again, 5 if for neutral.

TeamViewer
Starting two months ago, I began to see tangible economic benefits from using TeamViewer. Quickly, the travel cost reduction and increased productivity overcame the initial investment cost. However, it wouldn't work until everyone understood the software features, and success was contingent upon the complete training of all team members.

Alternatives Considered
Automox
Automox is able to scale better than PDQ Deploy. We were happier with the 3rd party software patching since we have a lot of different software we use across departments. PDQ deploy required a lot more manual intervention to stay on top of deployments. Automox just ended up being a timesaver for us in the end.

TeamViewer
Horses for courses they say but all around, TeamViewer is the best software for remote management, period. Pulseway's remote desktop can work well on the phone app but on a desktop, it is often unreliable and drops connections. AnyDesk is not appropriate for our business and is only good on a case-by-case basis.

Return on Investment
Automox
  • We used to use a different patching solution and since switching to Automox, I have been able to cut the amount of time I spend on vulnerability management by 50% or more. I love how "set it and forget it" some of the policies can be. I love how simple it is to keep an eye on things.

TeamViewer
We started seeing benefits from TeamViewer within the first 3 months. Initially we saw immediate savings reducing travel time and costs for support visits. Within the first quarter, we’d already cut travel-related expenses by around 15-20%, which quickly added up. As the team became more familiar with the software and we streamlined our processes, the time savings from faster issue resolution grew, further improving our ROI.
  • It has really reduces travel cost. Saved us approximately 30% on travel expense by handling most tasks remotely instead of sending technicians on site.
  • We are able to resolve issues way faster within minutes.
  • Faster service delivery has contributed to better client retention and stronger relationships.
