BrightEdge is great for large companies and large SEO teams since it's pricey but worth it if you have a large team or organization using it. For small businesses, I would use a different tool like Semrush because of the price and the variety of tools it offers.
Conductor is a great tool to use when we're planning and optimizing content around specific trends. It also helps us track our on-going performance as well, which is great to help us improve. Conductor is less ideal for content that has a quick turnaround time or pieces where SEO isn't a priority, also if you're looking to manage content publishing directly. It's more useful when it comes to strategy and optimization for in-depth pieces.
Well-suited for internal knowledge and documentation. Less appropriate for constantly changing SOPs or multi-team shared SOPs, because the cards are "2-dimensional" for "linear" processes. It would be nice to have easy access to historical versions, or a way to capture non-linear processes without having to capture this via video, etc., in another app. The AI Agent feature may help with this. Because we are such a small team, I have minimal bandwidth to implement new features, which is a catch-22.
Instant - Keyword research tool is by far our team's favorite item on the platform
DataCube - We are able to uncover competitive gaps and hone in on specific sets of pages using filters containing our business product assortment attribute.

I feel like the Hyperlocal feature is still very junior compared to other features. It provides you good insights, but you have to set all the data fields before you can get a picture as well as it doesn't really give you an idea of how you can improve.
The mobile SEO solution is a good concept, but it needs some tweaks to be better, especially when building out a mobile story builder. Some of the data isn't simple to read and the mobile keywords functions don't also account for voice searches.
Backlink tracking/reporting (would like to see backlinks more easily and maybe backlink opportunities if possible)
Custom content briefs (right now I move the brief from the platform version into our own in-house Word doc template because it is more detailed. Would love to be able to customize the brief that is set up within Conductor so that we can do it all in one place.)
Formatting has always been a pain point for me. We used Google Sites previously, and the ability to add multiple columns of smaller content boxes was great. To do the same thing in Guru, you need to create a table, which constrains you.
While the AI functionality is great, it can be challenging at times to refine the responses. Specifically, you must edit the source that is being pulled rather than the response itself. In some cases, we've edited the source to make the answer as clear as possible, and even after multiple attempts, the populated answer was acceptable but still not ideal for minimizing confusion.
Sometimes, when adding content, the cards glitch, and it won't save. Or if I go to add something to a landing page, it says it couldn't be saved. Then I do it all over again, and it works.
While the cards have limited formatting, the landing pages are great; however, when trying to move around or adjust the content boxes, it can be hypersensitive and very tricky to work with.
I would renew, as I don't feel there is a product out there that would have the impact on our SEO efforts as effectively as BrightEdge. It provides the information I need and integrates with other tools like Google Webmaster Tools, to truly have the depth of information that makes their suggestions for SEO changes so valued.
Conductor enables high-value SEO activity. There are a lot of moving parts in SEO and I'm always open to products that fit our requirements, but Conductor has built a stronger argument for its value after we subscribed than it had when we subscribed -- that's rare.
I rated Guru a 9 out of 10 for renewal likelihood because it has significantly enhanced our processes and customer satisfaction in the automotive rental company. Guru’s user-friendly interface and organized knowledge base make it easy to access and update essential information, which is crucial for maintaining high operational standards. The tool’s integration with other platforms, like the Guru Chrome extension, streamlines our workflow, increasing efficiency and productivity. One of the standout features is the ability to favorite cards, allowing quick access to frequently used information, which saves time and ensures accuracy in customer interactions. Additionally, Guru’s analytics feature helps us identify which resources need updating, ensuring our knowledge base remains relevant and effective. The only reason it’s not a perfect 10 is occasional slow performance and occasional inaccuracies in search results. However, these minor issues do not overshadow the overall benefits Guru provides. Its consistent updates and reminders further enhance our ability to deliver excellent customer support, making it an indispensable tool for our team.
Because it depends on the feature, it's either easier or not to use. Some of them, not being particularly friendly, I no longer use, and I focus on the ones where insights are easy to understand and data seems well-elaborated.
I check features like the InsightStream every Monday to monitor any major losses or gains in performance. These are easily digested and save me tons of time searching for these insights manually. If there's anything "worth calling home about" I can easily add insights into a workspace and create a report to communicate these results. It's super easy to use Conductor with a team and across departments.
What am I looking for from the partners that I'm working with? To be supported on my role in order to succeed, and Guru does that. It supported me to easily set it up, easily integrate with multiple sources based on my needs, and an easy launch, such an easy rollout that I didn't need to even beta test it or have a soft launch. I went directly with a full launch, which saved me a lot of time also and saved time across teams. I'm internally advocating for how useful it is across the teams to find very quick answers to very complex questions
Highly reliable day‑to‑dayGuru is consistently available when I need it. The platform loads quickly, search works reliably, and I rarely experience downtime or slow performance. It’s dependable enough that teams can trust it as a daily source of truth. Minimal unplanned outages or errors. In my experience, unplanned outages or errors are extremely rare. Even during high‑usage periods or heavy workflows, Guru remains stable and responsive.
Pages load quickly and consistently. Guru’s interface is lightweight, so cards, boards, and search results load fast with very little lag. Even when navigating between collections or opening larger cards, performance stays smooth and reliable. Integrations perform well without slowing systems down. Using Guru through the browser extension or Slack integration doesn’t noticeably impact performance. Cards surface quickly, and interacting with the integrations feels just as smooth as using Guru directly.
This is a area where the BrightEdge team really shines. Their commitment to training and product support is unmatched not only for SEO platforms, but life in general. I often find myself wishing my internet provide and similar would go to BrightEdge for training on support and attitude. I would rank them an 11 if I could.
The Conductor support team is excellent, especially our Customer Success manager. Our monthly calls to review our wins, losses, and key takeaways for the next steps are incredibly helpful, and Conductor's platform provides not only an organic search tool for our company but also a learning resource via our Customer Success calls.
The only reason I do not give it a a ten is because I think there is still some room for improvement in meeting the different time zone needs of their customers, but overall their support is top notch. Friendly, capable, and quick.

I would rate the in-person training for Guru a solid 9 out of 10. The session was incredibly valuable as it provided comprehensive insights into using Guru effectively. I learned a lot about the tool's functionalities, which significantly enhanced my proficiency and confidence in utilizing Guru for my daily tasks. The training was engaging, informative, and tailored well to ensure I could apply what I learned immediately. Overall, it was a highly productive and beneficial learning experience.
The online, on-demand training available was very good. I do wish we had done live online training as an org so that everyone had the same opportunity to learn the value and best practices. I completed the online, on-demand trainings personally, then turned around and taught the org, but I wish I had let the Guru experts do the heavy lifting for me!
I definitely recommend their professional services for getting started. It got our account 90% of the way to where we needed to be in order to gain value from it. In fact, I'd suggest that with few exceptions (such as, you have a staff that is already familiar with the platform and doesn't need any help), the quick start services over the first 30-90 days should be a standard part of onboarding with any new client. It definitely got us to the point of gaining ROI from the solution and, in turn, will make it easier to justify renewal and continued investment in it.
You will need a very strong team of guru champions in order to get EVERYONE and EVERYTHING on Guru, it takes some craziness and over talking about guru everywhere to get people to be exicted, contribute and use. If you are starting any kind of buisness and you need KB, just go for guru as fast as you can because when you will grow you will thank yourself.
While relatively expensive, Brightedge really does offer the best quality product but just as importantly (if not more so) the level of client/agency support. We have biweekly training with the entire team to continually stay up to date on Brightedge's offerings and strategies. They also offer the ability to do ad hoc reporting using some of their tools that can help us win new business and recommend Brightedge to additional clients, expanding our business as well.
We didn't use another product previously, we used an agency that did everything for us, so bringing Organic SEO in-house was why we went with Conductor. I have used other products in other roles and at other companies and each has its strengths. Conductor is good for large enterprises
The platform is unique, comprehensive, and uses AI. These are standout features. I also like the verification process and the ability to search from anywhere or on any browser. Guru enhances productivity and knowledge transfer when someone leaves an organization. Guru's interface is very user-friendly and can be trained quickly with new hires.
Guru is somewhat expensive compared to what our org is typically willing to spend on software solutions. Additionally, there is a price difference per seat when paid monthly versus annually, which was a big downside for us as my company didn't want to commit to an annual cost.

We have only started with BE a few months ago and so I don't have any hard numbers from an ROI perspective, but i can say that what we spent on BE is a fraction of what we were spending with agencies and we are actually getting results by doing this ourselves. With focused SEO campaigns and projects we have been able to move the needle on our SEO rankings for specific products and services. This is going to have a great impact for us in 2019 as we have some specific product goals and campaigns for 2019 that we have been working to build up over the last couple months of 2018.
