We use it to analyze keyword rankings for our main products and other web pages we want to make sure show up on the first page. We make adjustments when necessary based on the information that we obtain from the platform. Additionally we use it to find keywords and topics for creating new informational web pages about our products and blog posts that educate them about the life style around our products.,Keyword ranking - getting stats weekly on what keywords we are ranking for on 1st page and what the rank changes are is very useful insights that I don't even have to go look for. Wonderful that they are just delivered to my inbox. Content Improvement Suggestions - this is great for when you know you want to keep improving but need some thought starters on where to start. Account Success team is very hands on and informative. Having this hands on help that's essentially an extension of our team has been very helpful in getting us adjusted to the platform and helping guide us to sections of the platform we could be utilizing more. They also come up with great suggestions.,I love the platform , but there is a lot happening on each page that sometimes causes you to take moment to find what you are looking for.,10,Given that the data is mined from trusted sources and is current, I find this to be of high quality and invaluable. The amount of data that you can get from the platform is pretty much unlimited. This is extremely valuable t o how we go about creating content now that we have access to the platform. From creating new product pages / descriptions to creating our blog posts it all starts first with research within Searchlight.,When creating VersaDesk's Office Fitness product page we applied these best practices. The results have been this page having the largest increase in traffic of all our product pages and has seen a 163% increase in traffic since January 2019. Additionally all sales from our office fitness products have made up 23% of sales YTD, essentially increasing our revenue by the percent as well.,Our SEO and content team are one in the same at this time. It's impact on our content strategy is that we now create more curated content based on what customers are wanting to find and using it to answer common questions they are asking about our products.,SpyFu and DeepCrawl,9,10Conductor Searchlight is more of a partnership than a tool.We use Conductor Searchlight for our university website. It is currently used by our Marketing department in order to strategize our content. Previously, our website was a free-for-all without any SEO implementation. We are working to gain a competitive advantage online by utilizing our keyword research and competitive analysis as well as maintaining our site health and ADA compliance with their site analysis. Being a team of one at the moment, Conductor's customer service and access to a team whenever needed is a lifesaver. I fought leadership for over 8 months to get approval to partner with Conductor and it was well worth the struggle!,Customer Service. By far what they offer is the best. I have access to a team and their calendars. So when I need to set up a meeting I know when they are available. They are easy to talk to and help me work through any problem I might be having. Reports. I've seen reports by some of their competitors and quite honestly wasn't sure what I was looking at. But Conductors reports can be streamlined to fit several different audiences and I can email them out (automatically) whenever I want to whomever I want, whether they are a Searchlight user or not. Competitive Analysis. I've not done a lot of comparison with other vendors, but I like the convenient, straightforward way Conductor Searchlight shows your competitors and how they are ranking in comparison to you. You have control over your competitors and can change them when needed.,Site Analysis. Conductor Searchlight uses DeepCrawl for its site analysis. While this is a powerful tool that helps me know everything wrong with my website like - no titles, short descriptions, no Alt tags, etc - the amount of information can be overwhelming. Initially, I had thousands of errors I was trying to fix using DeepCrawl - it was difficult to know what I had corrected and what still needed to be corrected without doing another crawl. It would be helpful if there was a way to check off things that had been fixed as I was working through the list. Conductor does a great job training. First, they introduced me to Searchlight and walked me through everything, and helped me create workspaces and set up reports. Then we moved on to the site analysis with DeepCrawl. Because I had so much work to do from the site analysis it was a while before I got back into Searchlight. I had forgotten much of the training by that point. But the team is helping me get back into the flow of things again. They are great like that!,10,Being new to Conductor, I haven't been able to fully test everything and see many results. However, in the package I've chosen, we track 2,000 keywords - many splits between our academic programs and enrollment. We have three competitors that we are tracking against these same keywords. So far, this is more than enough data for us. We can always increase our package, but for now, this is what I can manage.,Currently, I'm making a few tweaks with Conductor Searchlight's recommendations on some of our academic pages. We are already seeing a 25-35% increase in traffic to some of those pages. Before we were manually searching for topics to write about, now it's easier than ever.,We track backlinks every week for our executive team, Conductor doesn't have an easy way right now to find this information. However, our account management team has been fantastic and has been providing this information for us every week. Getting set up in Conductor is time consuming and takes some effort internally, but is primarily done by the Conductor team. It may be worth having longer strategy sessions with the teams for a shorter implementation time. Market Share only shows your market share within your tracked keywords. I think it would be beneficial to see how we rank against our competitors on keywords we're not tracking. This may expose some keywords we're not tracking that we should be tracking.,10,The quality and quantity of data is incredible. We've never had so much data to analyze and make business decisions off of. We've been on the platform for a few months and there's already been a significant benefit from the data we've seen. If we didn't have the data, we wouldn't have anything to base our SEO strategies off of. We look at the data every week and have team meetings to keep a check on our efforts and strategy.,We've seen an increase in our SERP rankings even in the short time we've been on the platform. Their insights help tailor how to use the site and best develop your site. The Searchlight program is easy to use and the training program to help you get integrated is great and works around your schedule. Competitor insights allow you to create a strategy that is best tailored to tackle industry issues.,There are discrepancies in MSV between different sites. Currently unclear if this is an aggregate score or gotten through a different method than Ahrefs and Moz. While this isn't a crippling issue, we supplement our decisions based on other sources. It would be nice if we would specify the columns we download on the keyword bulk updater and add MSV and rank changes to the columns. Again, a very minor issue.,10,Searchlight allows you to track main keywords all the way to long tail keywords that would allow you to better help customers get to where they need to go. This is quite important to our industry as there are many common words with associated nouns that go in and out of public interest. Google Search Console and Google Analytics integration allows you to have all of the information you need in one place. Being able to stage all of our information in one place and prepare it for presentations is great to better inform my management team of industry changes. The "Striking Distance" and "Dropped Off First Page" features are great resources for me to use to see which content I need to focus on to gain traction for different keywords.,I think the content map feature has a lot of room for growth. The content mapping feature is a great feature but I think there should be an easier way to edit the content within the map once it is already created and segmented. It would be nice to be able to drag and drop pieces of content into different stages of the buyers journey within the map.,10,Using and receiving accurate data is very important to our SEO strategy. Conductor's data has been very accurate for our company so far, and we have not had any issues with their data. There have been recent changes to make the navigation more intuitive, but there still is some room for improvement. The Explorer feature allows you to find out which keywords competitor websites are ranking for. This is great for keyword research and to get an idea of industry specific jargon that may be overlooked in keyword research. The organic/paid search section optimizer is also great for gaining insights between organic and paid search. Their reporting is easy to use and provides high-level views as well as getting granular depending on who your audience is.,Conductor offers weekly tracking for keyword rankings for entry level. They do offer daily tracking as well however it's an additional charge. Would be nice if you had the choice for either option without having to upgrade. I think additional SEO tools should be added to Searchlight to avoid having to use 3 other tools for example. Currently, for backlink audits or technical audits, I have to use other vendors. I would love to see the data in Searchlight Their platform is easy to use however the menu options change often and some features that I've leveraged on a daily basis have different functionality or are taken away altogether which can be frustrating.,10,I value Conductor's data and rarely see any anomalies between the data and what I'm seeing in the search engines for example. I often use screenshots from Searchlight's platform in presentations and then go to Google to perform the search. While they are sometimes a few positions off, the data is pretty much on target. This is extremely important since we can tell clients their keywords are ranking on page one of Google however if the client is searching and not seeing it, this could negatively impact the confidence our clients have in our work. Of course there are times for reasons such as geo-targeting for example where rankings could differ, we would explain this to our clients.,Our customers see the positive difference in keyword rankings and in turn see visits increase to the website, more phone calls or orders for example. We started rocking and rolling now. After the onboarding process, we start engaging with the customer success manager to work on SEO operations. We had a few high priority projects/campaigns that required some assistance from the customer success manager. He was very patient and share many good ideas and tools that I could use to do the job. Currently we use Searchlight across 2 of our main brands (VersaDesk & GLAMMY Vanity). We use it to analyze keyword rankings for our main products and other web pages we want to make sure show up on the first page. We make adjustments when necessary based on the information that we obtain from the platform. Additionally we use it to find keywords and topics for creating new informational web pages about our products and blog posts that educate them about the life style around our products.
  • Keyword ranking - getting stats weekly on what keywords we are ranking for on 1st page and what the rank changes are is very useful insights that I don't even have to go look for. Wonderful that they are just delivered to my inbox.
  • Content Improvement Suggestions - this is great for when you know you want to keep improving but need some thought starters on where to start.
  • Account Success team is very hands on and informative. Having this hands on help that's essentially an extension of our team has been very helpful in getting us adjusted to the platform and helping guide us to sections of the platform we could be utilizing more. They also come up with great suggestions.
  • I love the platform , but there is a lot happening on each page that sometimes causes you to take moment to find what you are looking for.
Searchlight is well suited for any e-commerce company that is looking to improve their search results. I really can't think of a company that wouldn't benefit fro using the platform so long as they have a team to use it and carry out the content creation.

It would be less appropriate for a team that does not have have the bandwidth to be in the platform and utilize it. That is where I would suggest managed services.

We use Conductor Searchlight for our university website. It is currently used by our Marketing department in order to strategize our content. Previously, our website was a free-for-all without any SEO implementation. We are working to gain a competitive advantage online by utilizing our keyword research and competitive analysis as well as maintaining our site health and ADA compliance with their site analysis. Being a team of one at the moment, Conductor's customer service and access to a team whenever needed is a lifesaver. I fought leadership for over 8 months to get approval to partner with Conductor and it was well worth the struggle!
  • Customer Service. By far what they offer is the best. I have access to a team and their calendars. So when I need to set up a meeting I know when they are available. They are easy to talk to and help me work through any problem I might be having.
  • Reports. I've seen reports by some of their competitors and quite honestly wasn't sure what I was looking at. But Conductors reports can be streamlined to fit several different audiences and I can email them out (automatically) whenever I want to whomever I want, whether they are a Searchlight user or not.
  • Competitive Analysis. I've not done a lot of comparison with other vendors, but I like the convenient, straightforward way Conductor Searchlight shows your competitors and how they are ranking in comparison to you. You have control over your competitors and can change them when needed.
  • Site Analysis. Conductor Searchlight uses DeepCrawl for its site analysis. While this is a powerful tool that helps me know everything wrong with my website like - no titles, short descriptions, no Alt tags, etc - the amount of information can be overwhelming. Initially, I had thousands of errors I was trying to fix using DeepCrawl - it was difficult to know what I had corrected and what still needed to be corrected without doing another crawl. It would be helpful if there was a way to check off things that had been fixed as I was working through the list.
  • Conductor does a great job training. First, they introduced me to Searchlight and walked me through everything, and helped me create workspaces and set up reports. Then we moved on to the site analysis with DeepCrawl. Because I had so much work to do from the site analysis it was a while before I got back into Searchlight. I had forgotten much of the training by that point. But the team is helping me get back into the flow of things again. They are great like that!
The only reason I wouldn't want to share this with a colleague is that they will then become a much greater competition in the market. Areas where conductor helps us as an educational institution is: we have many different segmented areas in our Website. It's great to be able to create segmented keywords (categories) and reports that I can share with the various individual departments across campus.

The technical site auditing tools have proven invaluable to our Web team for the ability to easily identify on-page technical SEO issues. The regular calls with our professional services team, where we discuss not only high-level concepts, but also proactive recommendations, are also extremely helpful.
  • Keyword word analysis: The keyword tools enable us to identify topics that our audience is actually searching for.
  • On-page auditing: We can quickly identify technical issues.
  • Professional services: We particularly enjoy working with Conductor's professional services team to form the basis of our SEO strategy.
  • ROI takes approximately 9-12 months.
Searchlight is excellent for formulating a content strategy and easily reporting on site and content performance. Within a week of deploying the platform, we had our keyword strategy in place, and we were able to easily create automated weekly reports identifying gains and losses over the course of the past week.

Conductor is being used by practically everyone in the marketing department. Everyone from our copywriter to our digital marketing specialist has greatly benefited by using Searchlight. On my end, this solves the issue of reporting and creating workflows for the team. Searchlight combines the reports all into one place with a weekly report which I can just forward off to the leadership team. These reports have made it easy for me to analyze our current performance and make business decisions based on the data. Our copywriter and communications specialist use it for content analysis and looking at the content gaps on our site. Our digital marketing specialist uses it to enhance our web pages for SEO best practices.
  • My favorite part of Searchlight is the reporting features. I can't speak highly enough of the reporting. Before Searchlight, we didn't have much visibility into how our efforts were affecting our site traffic and rankings, but now, showing the leadership team that the marketing team is doing a good job is easy! I just forward our executive team the weekly reports and they seem to love it too!
  • The account management team has been beyond helpful throughout the entire engagement. They have been responsive to all of our needs and questions even after our account was set up. Their expertise is beyond valuable and they help us think creatively on ways to use the platform we aren't currently using.
  • One of the best parts of Conductor is the ease of use for users of all experience levels. We have beginners and experts using the platform alike and it seems to be a great fit for everyone.
  • Conductor's Explorer feature makes it easy for us to develop new content. Before we were manually searching for topics to write about, now it's easier than ever.
  • We track backlinks every week for our executive team, Conductor doesn't have an easy way right now to find this information. However, our account management team has been fantastic and has been providing this information for us every week.
  • Getting set up in Conductor is time consuming and takes some effort internally, but is primarily done by the Conductor team. It may be worth having longer strategy sessions with the teams for a shorter implementation time.
  • Market Share only shows your market share within your tracked keywords. I think it would be beneficial to see how we rank against our competitors on keywords we're not tracking. This may expose some keywords we're not tracking that we should be tracking.
Conductor is well suited for small teams that are busy juggling multiple priorities. It's an easy to use platform and you get your results quickly without having to dedicate too much of your time. You will find the platform useful even if you only have one hour a day to dedicate to logging in. Most enterprise SEO platforms we evaluated required much more time and energy to find the platform beneficial.

  • The platform is so easy to use and understand
  • The support is incredible -- I can reach out to any team member and get a clear answer to my question; our regular calls are also really helpful
  • Conductor takes feedback VERY well; I remember seeing some things in development now that came from the NorthEast User Group
  • This is wildly specific, but I'd love some automatic custom reporting
  • Within the workspaces too, I'd like a cleaner integration with Google Docs/Sheets
Searchlight is amazing for content ideation; we also love using it/Managed Services for refreshing current content.

Conductor Searchlight is used to monitor our website's content and keyword performance and allows us insight into trending terms in order to best adjust our content creation strategies. The website shows recommendations and other related terms that allows us to pick and choose how to utilize the results based on the competition of that topic. Searchlight also features seamless integration with Google Search Console and Google Analytics. To complement this, the site has a built in workspace and reports function that ensures that your entire team has simultaneous access to the same perspectives on the industry.
  • The Managed Services team provide amazing communication and show that they are just as invested in your success. Their insights help tailor how to use the site and best develop your site.
  • The Searchlight program is easy to use and the training program to help you get integrated is great and works around your schedule.
  • Competitor insights allow you to create a strategy that is best tailored to tackle industry issues.
  • There are discrepancies in MSV between different sites. Currently unclear if this is an aggregate score or gotten through a different method than Ahrefs and Moz. While this isn't a crippling issue, we supplement our decisions based on other sources.
  • It would be nice if we would specify the columns we download on the keyword bulk updater and add MSV and rank changes to the columns. Again, a very minor issue.
Searchlight is great for checking overall keyword performance based on your selected search engine. This allows you to create a database of relevant keywords and phrases best suited to increase your website visibility. For example, if you were a potato salesman and wanted to optimize your site on newly trending Yukon Gold potatoes, you can simply search the MSV on related key terms in order to best provide the best consumer experience based on most commonly searched terms. This also shows you which terms are not currently relevant and track them for later updates.

I use Conductor Searchlight to provide insights into how the search engines view my site as far as an authority in my space, but also to gain insight into what my competition is doing. I also integrate GSC & GA to get an all-in-one overview of my website and my efforts in gaining SERP space and view my market share vs. my competitors.
  • The Content Performance tool allows me to view what effect my content is having on my site and what pages are being viewed, clicked on and interacted with the most.
  • DeepCrawl allows me to view my site as an engine would and points any issues that I need to address immediately on a monthly basis
  • The Managed Services team is spot on in helping me see other issues that I may have missed in my study and is always willing to provide some help in other aspects of job.
  • I feel that the paid & organic optimizer section needs some work to help with the research, needs to be a bit more functional I believe.
  • If there is a backlink tool, I have not seen it. It is something I would definitely like to use.
  • A social SEO optimizer would also be of some great help.
Allowing me to see my competitors' rankings and market share are key in my work as I need to delve into the deep dive of where my competition is eating my lunch. The research section allows me to have a deep dive into what keywords I can find for my products. What is less appropriate for me at the moment is the YouTube video performance tool, possibly in the future.

  • Can be intimidating if you know nothing about SEO.
It is great for companies that are huge with over 1k employees and is a branded company as well. It is scalable for businesses which is good for the employees that want a strong internet presence and constantly campaign on the web.

Conductor Searchlight is used by the marketing team at my organization to help with SEO efforts and content creation. Before using Conductor, there were many things we had to track manually when it comes to keywords and different content performance. Now that we have implemented Conductor, we are able to track all of our SEO and content performance in one platform and it has helped make our lives easier. Conductor's platform is incredibly easy to use and creates easily digestible reports that we are able to send to leadership or other employees who may not be as familiar with the software as the marketing team is. Conductor has helped our team automate how we track our company's SEO efforts and has changed the way our team operates for the better!
  • The Explorer feature is a great resource for me to use whenever I am creating new content. Conductor allows me to go in and search keywords to see if the content I would like to create is popular among searches and tells me if this is something we should be focusing on or not.
  • The Content Performance tool is a great resource for me to use whenever I am managing and creating new content. We always want to make sure that we are creating new and exciting content that is performing well on our site among customers, and the Content Performance tool lets me see which pieces are doing well and which pieces are not. This tool also shows me the organic performance of our content over time and allows me to track that as well.
  • The Keyword Performance tool is also a great resource to use whenever I am looking to create new content. The "Striking Distance" and "Dropped Off First Page" features are great resources for me to use to see which content I need to focus on to gain traction for different keywords.
  • I think the content map feature has a lot of room for growth. The content mapping feature is a great feature but I think there should be an easier way to edit the content within the map once it is already created and segmented. It would be nice to be able to drag and drop pieces of content into different stages of the buyers journey within the map.
Conductor Searchlight is great for companies who are looking to automate their SEO efforts. Conductor has been nothing but amazing for my team and I and has opened our eyes to all of the opportunities we have to improve our company's SEO and rankings, along with new content that can be created to help do so.

We're currently using Searchlight to help with technical SEO updates, monitor rankings, conduct keyword research, and measure content performance.
  • The customer success managers are incredibly helpful in terms of bridging the gap between using the platform and our firm's specific use cases and strategy.
  • The platform is quite comprehensive and offers the customer a lot of value in one tool.
  • Reporting and workspace options are quite robust.
  • With so many features, the tool can be difficult to use on a regular basis.
  • There have been recent changes to make the navigation more intuitive, but there still is some room for improvement.
  • Could be some better training options for using new functionality and refreshing on old functionality and workflows
Definitely a great tool for understanding your search positioning, but I still rely on other tools for keyword/topic research.

  • An all in one solution.
  • Helpful for insights into many decisions for paid advertising campaigns.
  • Going through the on-boarding and training process in Conductor takes some time, just because the platform is very in-depth.
Conductor has helped me make informed budget decisions for paid campaigns in Google Ads by analyzing which keywords to put money behind. I also use Conductor for YouTube Cross-Channel insights, which has been helpful in measuring success and in seeing what improvements need to be made to the channel, both as a whole and for specific videos.

In our current setting, we're utilizing Conductor Searchlight to better understand not only our current ranking on SERPs, but also to better understand our competition's standings on various SERPs. With this data, we're able to craft better content, develop better strategies, and make a deeper impact in our market. Being a home builder, we are constantly battling major national brands, but we also can't forget to track other more localized competitors; Conductor Searchlight helps keep us up-to-speed on who our biggest SEO competitors are and how to best grow our strategies to take them on.
  • The customer support team is absolutely the best in market. There's no other SEO organization that cares for its customers like Conductor.
  • Data is extremely easy to read. There's no confusing jargon to try and learn; relevant terms are kept clear, concise, and understandable. If you're not sure what something means, Conductor is great about teaching!
  • The data provided is so robust, yet isn't just "fluff." A lot of companies throw in things that sound really cool, but don't ultimately help you move the needle. Conductor keeps things relevant and on-task, leaving the "filler" to others.
  • Weekly or bi-weekly recurring calls with the account team would be nice. I'm sure this is probably possible, but we haven't pursued it as intentionally as we should, based on our current workload. They're always available when we have any questions or needs.
Conductor is NOT for the faint of heart. It's not for someone that only wants to monitor what their current rankings are; if that's all you're looking for, go with a cheaper cookie-cutter service.

When you sign with Conductor, get ready: you've got some serious data coming your way! If you aren't going to leverage a lot of SEO data in your strategy, they're not for you. If you're ready to truly start creating SEO strategy that WINS, start the conversation now! You won't regret it!

Our team primarily uses Conductor Searchlight to monitor our content performance and to optimize our existing content with keyword suggestions. On a day-to-day basis, it is utilized by our marketing and website strategy team.

It solves several of our business problems. However, it is primarily used to help optimize our 2,100 product catalog with new keywords to aid our organic search results.
  • Customer Success - Every single interaction we have had with the customer success management team has felt seamless and productive.
  • Product Features - There are almost too many to feature. Whatever your strategy and set of objectives may be. There bound to be something in Searchlight to help you meet your end goals.
  • Ease of Use - The Searchlight interface is incredibly easy to pick up and use right away. The learning curve is not very steep and it caters to all SEO familiarity levels.
  • Frankly, the only thing I can think of us is that our team is too small to take advantage of all the features within Searchlight.
There are many different circumstances whereby Searchlight would be a fit for your company. If you are looking to enhance your organic traffic through smart keyword selection, thus saving time and your marketing budget. If you are seeking a way to monitor your competition and their market share. Finally, if you want a program that will help you easily create beautiful looking reports that you can use to show your upper management.

Conductor Searchlight has quickly become an essential tool for team members across our organization. Because of the versatility of the platform, teams with different objectives and areas of focus are able to leverage the data in ways that cater to their unique objectives, while being able to collaborate with other teams within a consistent framework. Our Content team is able to conduct audience and keyword research, our Product Marketing team is able to analyze and compare content segments to identify top performing products, and our Paid and Organic Search teams are able to quickly point out areas of light or overly saturated keyword coverage and create a more efficient search strategy.

Overall, this allows our organization to streamline our optimization efforts within one unified platform, which cuts down on inconsistencies, simplifies execution and reduces reliance on multiple technologies.
  • The Explorer tool integrates with multiple keyword databases, so the results are more comprehensive and representative of the true search landscape. It also provides important insight into the environment that surrounds the keywords or topics you search for, such as the stage in the customer journey that keyword best fits or the level of competition within the SERP that you can expect to go against. These are valuable features when determining which keywords to optimize your content for.
  • Knowing where you stand in relation to your competitors is important for understanding your path for growth, and the Market Share and Rank Comparison features within Conductor Searchlight allow you to determine the areas you dominate and areas of potential opportunity at a granular level.
  • The reporting feature allows you to quickly and easily compile notable performance shifts and disseminate these shifts to your team, along with analysis and relevant context.   • Conductor has a massive suite of features, and depending on the needs of your business, you may or may not need all of these features. Identify the key areas of support that you are looking for, and work with the sales team to customize a solution that works best for you.
Conductor Searchlight is perfect for organizations that are seeking to improve their visibility and presence within the entire search space, not just organic search, and therefore, smaller businesses or companies with a singular focus on a particular channel may not need the entire suite of features that Searchlight offers. If you are able to dedicate the time to utilizing the tool in full, then Searchlight can be a powerful resource in your optimization efforts, but it can be somewhat overwhelming if you are only using it on an intermittent basis.

Searchlight's platform is easy to use and set up for clients. Currently, the SEO department leverages Searchlight for keyword rankings, reporting, competitor data, content marketing and more. The data it provides helps in making strategic decisions on how to improve our client's SEO campaign, increase brand awareness and revenue, leads, etc. Searchlight integrates with Google Analytics and Google Search Console to help tie back all the data in one platform and integrate it into monthly SEO reports for example.

Their customer service is top notch and easy to use. Their chat feature provides support when you need it. Their staff is very helpful and if they don't know the answer, they always follow up with me on the same day.

  • Their keyword rankings are very helpful in determining if our SEO campaign is working. Having tools that provide fresh content ideas is also helpful for writing blog articles.
  • Their competitor tools help in identifying keywords or areas where our clients are being outranked. The Explorer feature allows you to find out which keywords competitor websites are ranking for. This is great for keyword research and to get an idea of industry specific jargon that may be overlooked in keyword research.
  • The organic/paid search section optimizer is also great for gaining insights between organic and paid search.
  • Their reporting is easy to use and provides high-level views as well as getting granular depending on who your audience is.
  • Conductor offers weekly tracking for keyword rankings for entry level. They do offer daily tracking as well however it's an additional charge. Would be nice if you had the choice for either option without having to upgrade.
  • I think additional SEO tools should be added to Searchlight to avoid having to use 3 other tools for example. Currently, for backlink audits or technical audits, I have to use other vendors. I would love to see the data in Searchlight
  • Their platform is easy to use however the menu options change often and some features that I've leveraged on a daily basis have different functionality or are taken away altogether which can be frustrating.
Searchlight is well suited for all businesses that operate a website; however, it may be geared for larger companies that operate more than one website. While I would recommend their platform to everyone, I could see cost being an issue for this enterprise level software for small business owners. I would also like to add that their excellent customer support allows you to use the tool without being an SEO expert, therefore saving money rather than hiring an SEO consultant for example.

We use Searchlight for just about everything we do with SEO/SEM: competitive analysis, keyword research, keyword performance, content performance tracking and reporting, SEO dashboard, technical SEO, link opportunity research...etc. I also worked with Conductor's customer success manager closely on ad-hoc reports, SEO campaigns, root cause analysis...etc.
  • The onboarding process was very well organized. Within a month we finished the training for the core team members, had an SEO dashboard completed that covers all important reports that we needed, keyword selection was done, keyword groups and content groups were done. We started rocking and rolling now.
  • After the onboarding process, we start engaging with the customer success manager to work on SEO operations. We had a few high priority projects/campaigns that required some assistance from the customer success manager. He was very patient and share many good ideas and tools that I could use to do the job. He even ran the extra mile to help me run some ad-hoc reports to get the data that I was looking for.
  • The insight stream is very helpful to keep me alerted to the ups and downs of our SEO performance.
  • The content performance annotation is instrumental for me and the web team to stay on track with the website changes and SEO performance.
  • Most of the reports allow me to drill down to the details. That is extremely helpful for us to deep-dive into the data. It is like having all data at my fingertips.
  • Conductor Searchlight has the live chat support that you do not see from other vendors. It is very helpful and very convenient. Whenever you run into question about using the tool help is just one click away.
  • The insight stream has much good insight every day. It is hard to keep up with it. Currently getting a weekly digest only. I would like to be able to set up a daily email alert.
Many people mentioned that nowadays doing SEO is moving to content marketing and search intent. The way we do SEO is to identifying the buyers' journey and match the search intent of the potential customers. We serve the right content to the customer to help push leads down the funnel and develop thought leadership and brand recognition. I found Conductor Searchlight was built with this SEO approach in mind. I found many features of the tool were built to serve this content marketing purpose. We don't need to customize the tool to make it work for us. Their customer success manager was also very helpful, almost like an extended team member.

Our main goal was to boost organic traffic year over year and Conductor was incredibly helpful in doing so. We utilized the basic weekly wins/losses report that was set up by a Conductor employee in order to identify areas we could improve our search engine optimization. In addition, we were also able to go into the recommendations section when we had some free time and improve the content on random pages.
  • Reports are incredibly easy to read
  • Competitive analysis through Conductor is addicting!
  • All Conductor employees I have interacted with have been extremely helpful and kind.
  • Recommendations are not always helpful/accurate.
  • There are so many features, it's hard to keep track of.
  • Sometimes features are renamed and hard to find.
For my role, Conductor fits like a glove. As long as you set aside time to properly segment and prioritize your keywords, Conductor will continue to perform well. With proper set up, generating reports can be as simple or complicated as you would like. For example, I have reports that review my entire domain for wins/losses as well as reports that analyze a certain subsection of keywords.

Conductor is primarily used by the Marketing Team's SEM specialist, with weekly reports going to Marketing & LOB leadership. The platform helps us quickly decide which pages to optimize (we have a website that hosts more than 800 pages) so we can be easily found on search. It also helps inform some of our paid search strategies.
  • Robust reporting that is easily customized
  • Excellent competitor reporting that is a must-have
  • Depth and breadth of information
  • The on-boarding process is less than ideal. We were on-boarded in an off-schedule manner, meaning that we had certain meetings go out of order. I do NOT recommend this approach as it had our team confused and we lost valuable time
  • Only use their managed services team if you have to. We did, as we were down an SEM specialist at the time, but we were rushed through the implementation, rushed to make decisions, and rushed to be off-boarded. The least positive experience with the team.
  • While the depth and breadth of data is positive, it can also be a negative as it is overwhelming, especially as the team is first getting up and running.
There is no doubt that this platform is essential when your Marketing team hits a certain scale. However, in order for Conductor Searchlight to be successfully integrated into the organization, it is best if you ensure that you have: 1) someone to check that the recommendations the engine makes are valid for your business, practice and industry. 2) someone to implement those recommendations in a timely manner. 3) someone to analyze the reporting and measure ROI. The data is only as good as the person you have using it.

We use Conductor organization-wide, though we're still educating and implementing it within some departments and business areas. As we build a new site, we're using Searchlight primarily to evaluate and update old content, and going forward, to create SEO-friendly content from the start.

  • Everyone I've worked with at Conductor has been kind, friendly, and genuinely happy to help. They make sure you understand the tool and what it means without dumbing it down -- no matter the level you're at. I know that's not specific to Searchlight, but I have to shout out my team! AJ, Mike, and Derek especially.
  • Searchlight itself is intuitive and easy to use -- the graphics are pleasant and get the point across, which can be hard when you're looking at a lot of data. Someone is always available to help if you don't understand something. I love that I can organize data into work spaces, which can be easily shared with higher-ups who need to digest information fast.
  • Also not specific to Searchlight, but rather Conductor itself: I was recently invited to a session for "power users," where we were able to talk directly with product designers about what's coming down the pipeline, and I felt that our feedback was really listened to. Decision-makers wanted to hear what we need, and I believe they'll implement it.
  • The only thing I could criticize is that SEO in general can be really hard for non-technical employees to grasp, and there's not much in the way of very very basic information -- Searchlight assumes you have some knowledge.
  • I would also LOVE if Searchlight had premade, customizable templates for data (right now I get that from my team) built in.
Searchlight is especially well suited to companies or organizations where SEO is just becoming a priority -- it's easy to use and understand. This is not to say that it's not well suited to organizations where SEO is already a priority -- but some more experienced SEOs might need more in the way of technical data.

We needed an SEO tool and had a need to drive organic traffic to our website. It is being used by marketing as well as by our web agency. It allows us to easily prioritize our SEO efforts. As the one person who uses the platform internally I feel like it's a valuable tool for raising visibility in a very competitive section of the web.

  • I wish there was an easier way to monitor changes that are implemented with their out of the box solution. I know this is available as an add-on, but wish it was part of the regular package.
  • Some suggestions are not always viable suggestions. This most related to Title Tag recommendations with product pages having multiple products listed.
If you have a need for an SEO solution and have resources to make the recommendations. If you don't have resources or can't make the changes yourself you are probably going to be running into problems.
