We changed payroll companies from Paycom to Heartland this year at the recommendation of our insurance agent who insisted they would integrate with the EASE system, which tracks employee benefits and deductions. However, 8 weeks into it, I regret my decision, since the setup hasn't been completed yet. The lack of responsiveness in some cases is astounding and often we have to ask 3, 4, and 5 times for something to be done. I hate to think what will happen after we are "handed off" from the payroll implementation team to the regular schmucks. We still are not able to track PTO and time off and we have been begging for the self-service feature to be turned on for employees so they can change addresses, bank account info, etc. Their training is NONEXISTENT and their manual is abysmal. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! I wish I could go back to Paycom!

iSolved is well-suited for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, extensive use of reports and reporting features, and a dedicated customer service support representative who gets to know you and the needs of your company and payroll processing needs. iSolved is less appropriate if you are looking for a payroll company that can just simply process payroll if customer service is not a number one priority, and if you only need the basic reports (payroll summary and payroll register would be sufficient for your needs).

- White-glove customer support. All employees are in the United States and they must pay them well, because they don't seem to have turnover there.
- Technology is awesome. We have Payroll, HR, T&A, ATS, and onboarding with them.
- Their Tax Credit tech is amazing. I received more money in tax credits last year than payroll cost me. That's a net positive!
- Compliance with their HR team is great, and they don't hit you over the head on the price for it.
- Pricing is fantastic with a 3-year price lock. No BS discounting that jumps back up a year later.

- Flexibility. Schedule templates can be created at departmental level and managers can be made responsible for maintaining schedules rather than HR. Time entries can be edited on multiple levels (punches or total hours worked). New security groups can be easily added anytime.
- Reporting Power. TimeForce provides a significant number of standard reports for HR, manager and audit purposes.
- Import Utility. It is very easy to update the system with new employment-related data through by importing .csv documents through TF Import Utility.

I don't have a decision in whether to renew the license or not, however if I did I would strongly recommend renewing the license, unless there were a system that would sync up with our payroll program, then I would lean more to the other program simply from a biased standpoint of it being easier for my position.

I have found as the administrator it is very cumbersome for most individuals to use and it is not very intuitive. An individual that is not technologically advanced will have difficulty using as well as those that are lazy and just do not want to learn to do it. The manuals they give you are not helpful for the web-based program. I had to create my own with pictures for most individuals to understand the system.

We recently canceled our contract with Isolved and moved to Paychex. One thing to consider is that if you leave isolved all access to your data ends 30 days after termination of the contract. Not a big deal for me since I have the reports and data I need, but it is also terminated for your employees to access pay stubs or old w2s. If you want to keep access it is $250 per month.It seems strange that they can hold your data hostage and they wouldn't just allow employees to have access to their pay stubs and other information they may need months after a change in payroll companies.

The system was very cumbersome setting up as well as time consuming. There were times I just wanted to walk away and sometimes I did have to get up and walk away for a break and come back with a fresh perspective. The setup took me over a period of two to three months getting it to serve the purposes that we needed it two. I am very intuitive when it comes to computer software however getting all the right buttons checked in order for it to do what I needed didn't always work.

I've considered moving payroll over to QuickBooks Online so that everything is in one place, but it would probably take too much work considering that our current system works really well. I think QuickBooks would confuse me, honestly. There are other systems that offer different user interfaces that are neat looking, but I haven't done too much research because Heartland Payroll offered me a really good deal for processing since we are a small company.
