CLoudability is used to provide accurate cost reporting of our cloud spend to our stakeholders
  • Provide clearly defined dashboards for Cloud spend
  • Provide detailed spend reports for executive levels
  • Fully Customizable dashboard based on customer need
  • Cloud recommendations provide three scenarios, This can be confusing to novice users
  • Easier movement between environments that a user has been given approval to see
  • Widgets can get tricky for novice and beginner users
Great tool for providing detail monthly , quarterly and yearly cloud spend.
Also great that you can go year over year

I would like to see an ability to generate that includes year over year.

Cloud optimization recommendations seem more like suggestions and not whats always best for the application
Relatively easy to use if you have experience using this type of tool.

Apptio Cloudability provides a user friendly way for Technology and Finance to align on cloud spend. We are using it for creating savings report and get helps getting the rightsizing recommendations.
  • Dashboard creation
  • Reports
  • Rightsizing recommendations
  • Latency issues while running reports
  • Add features to get Stopped instances list
  • Need cloudwatch related features to optimize the usage
Clouability is well suited for getting actual cloud usage, cloud forecasts and dashboards. Some of the rightsizing recommendations are less appropriate.
It's also easy to filter data a variety of fields such as date, organization, and cost type. It gives a smooth transition between the platform.

We use cloudability for cloud cost reporting and optimization on Azure & AWS.
  • Cost reporting
  • AWS Rightsizing recommendations
  • True cost explorer
  • Azure rightsizing and RI recommendations
  • Utilization reporting
  • Anomaly detection
Well, I think in the current market filled with Cloud cost management tools such as Turbonomics and cloud native tools, Cloudability is doing pretty well.
Nees a lot of effort to onboard the cloud accounts/subscriptions on cloudability.

My organization uses Apptio Cloudability for cloud reporting. As a part of Finance, I use Apptio Cloudability for actual cloud usage, cloud forecasts, and invoice details. My organization previously used a self developed tool for cloud reporting. However as the organization's cloud footprint grew, we needed a more mature tool to report on cloud usage and forecasting. Apptio Cloudability provides a user friendly way for Technology and Finance to align on cloud spend.
  • User-friendly views
  • Filtering capabilities
  • Connections to source data
  • Ability to see fiscal year view when fiscal and calendar year differ
  • More visual chart options
Apptio Cloudability is well suited for cloud usage and reserved instance amortization reporting. The tool provides user friendly reporting of usage by organization, category, and account. It's also easy to filter data a variety of fields such as date, organization, and cost type. I would like to see more predictive forecasting capabilities within the tool. Overall, Apptio Cloudability is a great way to analyze cloud usage within your organization.
Apptio Cloudability's usability is great! The interface is very user friendly. I was able to pick up how to add filters and comparative dates very easily. The widgets within the dashboard are also very easy to set up and adjust. One thing I would like to see is the ability to set fiscal year views. My organization's fiscal year differs from the calendar year so I would like the option to set fiscal year within the tool.

We use Cloudability for cost visibility into our cloud spend across various cloud platforms. We create dashboards and reports to provide stakeholders with information about spend related to specific applications or business units. This is also used for anomaly detection to understand when we may be deviating from expected and forecasted spend.
  • Cost visibility
  • Optimization recommendations
  • Anomaly detection
  • On-prem cost reporting
  • SaaS reporting
  • Oracle Cloud support
Cloudability is excellent for cost reporting and aggregating spend from various cloud providers. This was a task performed manually using spreadsheets in the past and disconnected business intelligence tools, however, Cloudability can help us automate and steamline this process which also helps to reduce resource hours. The forecasting reports are helpful, however, we need additional data for it to be accurate.
This is a user-friendly application. Most of our consumers aren't data analysts, however they have been able to easily use the data and create reports to meet their needs.

I currently use Cloudability only to help allocate my AWS and AZURE Cloud spending every month. It advises me on how I need to allocate and pay our monthly invoices internally. It's the only tool we have that does this. I also run spend reports, etc. out of it. This is the primary function of my role.
  • Calculates cost perfectly by account identifier.
  • The Excel export report function works really well.
  • Dashboards are easy to read and understand.
  • Too many password updates. Wish I could continue to use the same one always.
Apptio Cloudability is well suited for Cloud cost analysis. It does a very good job at it and I don't think there's currently anything else out there that can beat it.
It is very easy to navigate and user friendly.

Real-time cost reporting analytics
  • Real-time cost analysis
  • Above-average UI and report design
  • Apptio BI is not useful compared to clady reporting
  • lack of support for customer-specific issues that take too long to get remedied
  • Pricing model not sustainable for heavy cloud users
Cloudability is great for understanding AWS EDP's and getting that information baked in to your costs as it can be extremely confusing otherwise. The 'real-time' data reported through the tool is also extremely useful. I do not have much experience with advanced features as we do not need to use them, but I assume the rightsizing and utilization data is helpful.
The UI can still be a bit difficult to navigate and has a learning curve, but for the most part it's pretty easy to understand. We get a lot of questions around where and how to find information that users are looking for.

We use it to manage our billing of our cloud resources, including Azure in multiple tenants throughout our organization.
  • Allows specifics on what our billing breaks down to
  • Gives us a centralized clearinghouse for multiple tenants across different organizations
  • Provides an easy to read detailed summary
  • I feel like some of the documentation on setting up the service may be helpful
I've only specifically used it in relation to the Azure billing, so I can only speak to that. The service works very well in there, and is capable or providing insight that would either take a lot of time to manually search for with relation to that billing, or provides insight on items that are opaque to us even as administrators.
With the work I've done on it the interface is simple and easy to use. Setting it up was a bit harder, only because I had to hunt for some reference documentation a bit more than I would for other products or native microsoft systems

Apptio Cloudability was used for data pulls and subsequent report creations for multiple Product lines. The data used from Cloudability was used to constantly monitor spend within our Azure Cloud structure where we have many Azure subscriptions
  • use of widgets for customized viewing
  • data filtering
  • overall navigation
  • quicker updates on data (currently there is approx a 48hr latency in data updates)
  • filtering for exactly what you want to view can be a bit less cumbersome
It is a powerful tool that allowed me to download xmls which then led me to create pivot tables to format the data. Filtering gave me exact details of what i was looking for in terms of creating reports.
Better overall use that previous tool that was used

Apptio reports are generated for measuring monthly infrastructure costs segregated by individual LOB to granular services being consumed. These reports help in creating monthly reports, which would eventually help in identifying costs associated with inactive applications and also a nice trend in usage. It also provides a monthly view which is helpful while consolidating app cost reporting. My scope would be to consolidate this infrastructure costs associated with applications supported by technology services. App cost report and then tabulate in excel to measure the cost change each month per application. Capture the changes.
  • I am capturing costs per month.
  • They are showing trends through visualization.
  • Ease of use.
  • Cost for azure applications.
Capturing service usage data and trends.
Usability is good. We could download reports as CSV as well as pdf.

Cost is one of the critical factors when we migrate our Applications to the Cloud and expand the business. Cloudability helps us provide insights on how we are spending in the Cloud and provides multiple dashboards to help us understand the spending trending over a period of time, by Cloud resources, by Departments, etc. It also provides information on how Reserve instances or Savings plans are utilized in our Org. I like the automated reports that tell me how much I have been spending since last week on the hosting cost, and oftentimes, this helps me realize that you might have an orphaned resource running in the cloud when you should have deleted it. The recommendation in terms of resource utilization and how we can optimize the usage is a great deal. As more and more products are launched and more employees start to operate in the Cloud, it is difficult to control the cost without having a way to tell us - where we are spending the most and how and then providing recommendations. Cloudability provides that for us, and that is a big win when were are talking about $$$.
  • Dashboards and multiple dimensions.
  • Recommendations
  • Ability to slice and dice, track by Tags, Service type.
  • Email report alerts that show the trend.
  • Helps to build a forecast and a cost report for the last six months etc.
  • More UI/UX improvement.
  • Recommendation engine to provide multiple insights into why and how.
It is well suited when you are more product-centric, engineering focussed, and think about time to market your products to your end customers and have less time to manage the cost of hosting your product in the cloud. Cloudability will help you bridge that gap and provide you with everything you need to stay cost conscious and thereby increasing your revenue and reducing Opex.
Easy access and SSO integration. I feel the UI/UX can be improved more with more designs and fly-out dashboards etc.

Apptio Cloudability was helpful as it allowed me to do a cost analysis of cloud spend and generate insights for a client team meeting. It provides flexibility to play around with different criteria thereby helping determining costs based on tags, projects, resources, etc. Also, the visualization was compact, very detailed and extremely informative.
  • Compact, allowing me to view multiple cloud on a single dashboard
  • Good customer support
  • Customization based on different criteria allows for flexibility
  • UI is a bit difficult to navigate and needs training/experience
  • Pricey for SMEs
  • Found their FAQs to be dated
  • Making customizations is not that easy
Well suited for: - cost tracking, resource utilization, and capacity planning - analyzing multiple cloud projects in a single dashboard - metrics allow new deployments to be more cost efficient Less appropriate: - UI/UX can be improved and made a bit uncomplicated, currently it is a bit overwhelming for people starting on it
- User interface/ UX design could have been easier to navigate since it takes a while to get around it - Recommendation would be to make it more user-friendly - Also, the FAQ document is a bit outdated and could be updated

We use Apptio Cloudability to do a lot of cost analysis and reporting across and large estate of AWS accounts. This allows us to track our daily, weekly, monthly spend on various services across our accounts and make decisions about our trajectory. Some of the default reports are very useful as a template but need to be customized to get the details you want represented properly. The dashoard showing daily spend on AWS services (each service, per account) is one of the most useful parts of Apptio Cloudability.
  • Aggregating spend across accounts
  • customizable reports based on needs
  • Customizable charts and graphs on dashboards
  • Simplify the filtering and query language
  • Realtime page refresh
  • Autofill suggestions when creating reports
Great for managing a large estate of cloud accounts, getting aggregate numbers for spend with the ability to dill down to specific cloud services. We have used Apptio Cloudability to do audits of particular services within AWS and determine where we can make cuts and save money. You can set Apptio Cloudability to create and email reports that show spending trends to see how things shift on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.
Some of the reporting tooling is not so straight forward. You can eventually get the information you need but the way the filtering is done is not intuitive. The title and use of the default templates is not always accurate. Sometimes the data being pulled and represented needs some finness in order to get it to display how or what you want.

The organization I work for uses Apptio Cloudability to analyze data of possible savings in our AWS cloud. As we have hundreds of AWS accounts distributed in several departments, there is a need to check if people are properly using cloud, avoiding waste of money and then suggesting optimization changes that could improve our efficiency. Soon we will have Azure as well and then we will use Apptio Cloudability to analyze these data too.
  • Find unattached volumes that are not in use that can be safely deleted
  • Find instances which have more CPU or memory than it could have
  • Discover volume types that are more cost effective than default ones
  • Discover instance types with proper CPU/memory values for each use
  • Discover resources that are spending huge amount of money
  • Interface and filtering must be improved, as it throws a huge amount of data and people get lost without knowing where to start
  • View sharing could be made easy
  • Make easy to filter by cloud account and resource type
  • It could have a way to discard some recommendations, as we have tried some and then had to turn back due to performance issues
Apptio Cloudability is great to know how much money is spent in each cloud account, as well how much they can be optimized. However, some recommendations create performance issues and there could be an easy way to discard them. Maybe an AI could read these "approved" and "discarded" recommendations in history to improve the recommendation system.
Some interface looks polluted, too much information at once. Filtering system needs an improvement, it is hard to reduce data to a human understandable level to make proper analysis and decisions. I have to use its API (I had to develop a Python library, there is no official library available) to reduce these data and save reports in Excel worksheets.

For cloud cost visibility and to enable self-service FinOps capabilities across engineering teams
  • Provides basic self service dashboards for data visualization
  • I believe GKE cost reporting data is incorrect. I found the data pipeline often broke repeatedly and reported numbers off by millions of dollars and Apptio engineering took as won't fix feature requests 1+ year out in the roadmap.
  • I found the data pipeline broke multiple times leaving silent multi day gaps reported with $0 cost leading to incorrect reporting driving business decisions.
  • In my opinion, the product very immature on GCP and the product / engineering teams lacked understanding of how many GCP features and cost functioned to onboard into their product.
  • When bugs are raised they are always move to feature requests and not fixed in a timely manner, in my opinion. Examples include basic features to prevent duplicate views from being created with the same name.
Maybe this product is better on AWS - but in my opinion, if you are targeting for GCP deployment you are better suited to building your own Looker studio reports on top of the BigQuery native data export.
The UI for reporting, dashboards, views is the only positive we saw in the platform. We found the incorrect underlying data pipelines quickly made the overall product unusable unfortunately.

Setting up this is very easy and also maintenance is easy to.

We use Cloudability to enhance our cost visibility and bring cost insights to our end users. Having a product that brings all of our accounts into one single pane of glass greatly simplifies operations and allows us to find cost inefficiencies and tackle them right away. Also, the ability to correlate costs with tags and custom made mappings provides functionality that isn't available with legacy solutions.
  • Reporting
  • Dashboards
  • Cost Allocation
  • Bugs Fixes
  • Speed of application
Does well:
  • Cost tracking and allocating costs between multiple accounts into one tool
  • Rightsizing recommendations and the ease of exporting them
  • Custom mappings and metric creations to transfrom your data the way you want it.
Less appropriate:
  • Tool can be slow at times
  • Random bugs arise multiple times that makes the tools unusable.
Tool is easy to integrate with accounts and comes with several reports and dashboards out of the box that makes it easy to start exploring and investigating cost. One downside is the naming of the dimensions, metrics, and filters that require that you know the tools naming conventions beforehand to use the tool to it's full potential.

Cloudability is being used for cost optimization tracking, resources in AWS such ec2, s3, ebs, rds are being reviewed to identify optortunities for savings, as well it does some recomendations to change type, size or other actions like build auto scaling groups based on the behavior of the service and the most equivalent type available.
  • Always available
  • Trusted information
  • Diffrent recommendations
  • Filters
  • Self-training
This product works perfect for short term analysis as it get data from last days to compare it, however newer reports could take a while to get updated with recent changes so the analysis for an oportunity could take longer.
The console is very user-friendly, I had no issues to get information, created my filter groups and other actions even with no training.

We have a very large, diverse Azure environment that many departments have apps/services in. It is an easy way to segregate, and break down costs as needed without giving users access to the actual Azure Portal itself. The speed to create dashboards, or run reports is a big advantage when departments need viability of their owns costs.
  • Visibility of reserved instances, and recommendations for further savings
  • Right sizing suggestions based on VM utilization
  • Dashboards - easy to add widgets for quick visibility of desired metrics
  • I'd like see the actual VM name in reservation portfolio, rather than the reservation ID
  • I find the speed in which the changes are applied a frustration. E.g if you add a business mapping, you often have to wait 24hrs or more for the data to fully process.
  • The user management seems a little clunky, I preferred it when it was part of the actual Cloudy portal, rather that through access administration.
It is very malleable so I like how easily custom views can be created for service owners to view specific costs of items of interest to them. It is useful how easily you can segregate/filter resources from each other. There is an associated administrative overhead, particularly when adding new users to the system, this is maybe more of a shortcoming from my organization, rather than the product itself though.
The interface is quite intuitive and pretty self explanatory. The initial setup wasn't particularly easy, but Apptio support are always on hand and responsive to assist. The views and business mappings really useful tools to to separate sources/departments.Tag explorer is also very useful for seeing untagged spend.

We just started with Apptio Cloudability. I'm impressed with the ease of setting it up (after getting over internal hurdles). The reports are very useful. This application is very useful in demonstrating the value of cloud spend.
  • Easy installation
  • Valuable out-of-the-box reporting.
  • Simple, integrated security.
  • Have only set up Azure so looking forward to seeing how difficult it will be to integrate other cloud service providers.
Tag validation is a snap. Easy to slice and dice costs. Automatic Anomaly Detection Build in scorecards give stakeholders a reason to engage.
It took us months to get up and running but that was due to our internal procedures and lack of experience. Once set up the app is fantastic and easy to use and show cloud value.
