Overall Satisfaction with ADP Workforce Now

We use ADP WFN for all of our HR and Payroll needs for the entire organization. We are able to track, update and process all of our HR and Payroll day to day functions with it. It is simple enough to use and when we do have issues their customer service is available to help us. We use specifically to enter new employees into our system, process payroll and all of our reporting.
  • We are able to update all employee information including I9's which keeps us compliant
  • We are able to process payroll in a timely matter
  • We are able to use the HR module as our company HRIS system and we are very satisfied with that
  • For Payroll reporting with Accounting and Finance, we are able to produce reports that satisfies our needs.
  • I would say their customer service via phone needs to improve by a lot. A call to them could take up to an hour sometimes and that has to change.
  • WFN should have more options to choose from on just about every module that they serve. It seems their modules address the most popular issues but many times you are limited.
  • I think they should mend their 401K module into WFN, instead of keeping it a separate entity. It is basically taken twice the time to do repetitive work for employers like us that use ADP 401K
  • The reporting that we use WFN for works ok, but requires some time on the phone, a simpler format with more to choose from would be helpful.
  • For our uses, it has all been positive. We need just an HR program that transitions into payroll. This is excellent for us
  • The payroll reporting is fantastic. I can always request or create something that doesn't exist, but ADP seems to have covered the major ones. It is extremely useful
  • Tracking and moving funds with WFN is easy to record and keep track of. We are quickly able to send and post funds for payroll.
Our HR team has saved 1-25 hours per month. - We are able to see the time savings as day to day employee situations come up. We are able to address things easier and more efficiently. We also still use manual employee files so we are able to update these in a more timely matter. This is all as a result of ADP WFN making things more fundamental for our company.
ADP just seems to offer more services for the dollar than Paychex. Even though their customer service needs improvement , most time we are able to resolve any issue that occurs without calling them. Many times, because of our experience with the modules, we are able to solve these problems ourselves. Again, this is a time efficient way of doing things .
WFN is great when we have to run a special or bonus payroll. It allows us to set up and run almost instantly. It is accurate and very time friendly. We are able to follow the flow of funds to our ACCT Department and allow us to transfer funds for a special payroll to our bank in a timely matter. This is very important for our firm.

Using ADP Workforce Now

2 - There are 2 employees on staff that use WFN. Generally Payroll is done separately but in the big picture , we support each other on all functions. I am responsible for payroll and reporting and for direct interaction with Finance. We have another colleague responsible for HR and employee questions that can easily be looked up via WFN
2 - Our employees have background in HR/Payroll and Benefits. Most if not all have bachelor degrees (depending on the role).. We have looked into taking ADP classes as well to stay current. They offer many classes which are useful. The advantage we have is that our employees are experienced enough to learn "what's new" from ADP and start using it on their own.

  • Reporting
  • Time tracking
  • Birthdays/Anniversarys
  • Review time
  • we are looking to use WFN for our 1099 Employees
  • Track Sick Days
WFN is our everyday HRIS and Payroll source. We have come to rely on it for the service it gives us to meet our demands. We enroll employees, their employment information and are able to process everything and produce reports we need to satisfy Management. In a way it has become our lifeline. They also offer Employee search options which is something we hope to look into further as the new year approaches.

Evaluating ADP Workforce Now and Competitors

Yes - We used Paychex years ago but found it to beto basic for us as the company was growing. We need to have a simplified program that can support our need with customer service that supported us. We felt that switching over to ADP was smoother at the time. While we have had some bumps, our staff is able to handle them or we call on customer service.
  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Product Reputation
  • Prior Experience with the Product
  • Vendor Reputation
Well ultimately it was price, but from my perspective it is the features and the usability that is offered with the package. ADP aslo has the reputation of being the #1 payroll software company, but it was more than that as we were able to make use the HR module for our firm. The HR module is easily the most useful tool that we have come to grow with.
Interesting question. I am not sure if we would have. We met with Sales Reps from ADP , Paychex and a start up company that was going to give a lot of exclusive products designed for us. It was more than we needed at the time and with a start up , many other problems can occur on their side that we did not want to be apart of at the time.

ADP Workforce Now Implementation

I would say most importantly the thing to do is to back up all important information or be rpepared to update everything into WFN once you are ready to go. Not everything is perfect, and mistakes can happen. We were lucky to have the support of ADP ' customer service and a Rep who really seemed to care. It made the entire transaction much easier for our company
Change management was minimal - Since the size of our company is not that large and most of our reporting can be converted to other files, the change process went pretty smoothly. I was not directly involved as IT played a major role but as it turned out , ADP's support team was able to set us without too much of a hassle which they assured us from the start.
  • Not all employee information was transferred
  • Some important information had to be reset for staff, such as Direct Deposit

ADP Workforce Now Training

  • Online training
  • In-person training
  • Self-taught
The instructor gave us a complete but basic tutorial of general instructions on how each module works with some time savers as well. It was useful , but kind of simplified. I found out that by asking (and repeating ) any questions that they took the time to explain a specific task. Also, most of the instructions were included in handouts which was very good to have.
The on-line training was most useful to me personally. It allowed me to stop and go at a pace where i was able to learn some new shortcuts and apply some of the steps that we have already be using. An example would be in the Hire/Terminate page where the steps were easy to follow but it did take time to learn them
The payroll module was very easy for me, Most of it was common sense , it just involved learning the way it is done by WFN. The HR module was a little trickier , only because of my lack of familiarity with some of the stages and procedures. Actually , once I understood the steps, the flow in the HR module was fine.

Configuring ADP Workforce Now

Initial configuration of WFN is way to complex , but I understand that it probably has to be. This is where having a good Rep or a good customer service Rep comes in. They are trained for many of the problems that can come up and are always available to lend a hand. I have found most are very patient and are able to answer any questions we have.
Specifically, no. If there is some set up that has to be done, all it takes is a call to customer service and they will walk me through everything. Once we are good to go, I can adjust around the settings of the module to make it work best for us.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
No - we have not done any custom code
We have not. The format works fine for our company.

ADP Workforce Now Support

It's not easy to give anyone a 10, but ADP comes pretty close. Their staff is usually aware of any "emergencies" such as "outages" or updates. I can honestly say that 90-95% of the time when we have to call into support , the problem is resolved on the one phone call. When it comes to specific reporting , this is when we spend more time on the phone, but that is to be expected.
ProsCons
Quick Resolution
Good followup
Knowledgeable team
Problems get solved
No escalation required
Immediate help available
Support understands my problem
Support cares about my success
None
No - While it is a nice option, we feel that our staff, particularly our Payroll Manager can handle a good chunk of our issues There are not many things that come up that can not and ADP support is usually there to support us. Most if not all of out problems are resolved on the first call and there have been minimal problems overtime.
Yes!- Last Christmas on December 22 or so after our final payroll was run, Our President decided to give out bonuses and we had to run a special payroll and have the funds in the employee accounts before the holiday. Basically it took one call, We process the extra payroll over the phone , transferred funds and produced our reports in a matter of hours and every was paid promptly. I always thank my Rep about this.

Using ADP Workforce Now

WFN simplifies everything that we use it for internally. Most of the modules that we use are only a click away from starting to completing. Our staff is experienced with WFN as well and this helps us to save time and to not have to call support. We are able to resolve a great deal of issues "in-house"
ProsCons
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Technical support not required
Consistent
Quick to learn
Convenient
None
  • Payroll File
  • Hire/Rehire/Terminate
  • Batches
  • Time & Attendance
  • Reporting

ADP Workforce Now Reliability

By scalability, Are you asking performance of the product? If so, then yes WFN will grow as the company grows. As we continue to need WFN for different tasks, WFN seems to have the size and capability to keep up with our needs. They are always upgrading the product so it seems that they are trying to stay current with the times
In the years I have been using ADP products, (not only WFN) outages have happened. IT is quite clear however that more recently especially in the last few years, they have been fewer occurrences. When a crash has happened, worst case we just re ran the prior payroll without direct deposit and distributed the payroll by hand. This allowed us to make corrections on the following payroll and any outages would have been corrected by that point
Other than our own internet issues, I can't complain about the performance of ADP web pages. They always load fast, take me to home page and allows me to get going with my tasks for the day. I will not that WFN works a whole lot better in Google Chrome versus Windows Explorer. This has been consistent for years.

Integrating ADP Workforce Now

As mentioned with time, integration has become much simpler. Basically it is as simple as converting a file to excel or word and attaching it to the vendor's website for employers. Once set up is complete and all works, it really has become a simple process. The idea of getting a confirmation from the vendor keeps everything in order.
  • 40i K provider
  • Transit provider
Set up was a little tricky in the beginning but today , most vendors follow the same procedures so we are able to automatically sent something in an excel file to both our 401k and tranist provider.
  • Health insurance
Most 401K and Transit and some insurance providers allow for a smooth integration using excel or another MS product.
  • File import/export
I think selecting a vendor that allows integration is very key. You should choose one that allows for this to happen and make the most use of this with as many vendors as possible. After awhile, they become simple tasks that can save time for everyone. With all this, support should be reviewed and check before submitting.

Relationship with ADP

I need a vendor that is not pushy. I ask for the information I need on a need to know basis. This allows me to update my files and maintain proper paperwork as move forward With WFN, ADP has kept to that. My sales Rep calls about every 45 days with lots to share but only with products that we may have an interest in
As a Vendor ADP was easy to work with, We had some issues as once the sale was complete we were directed to other departments who had our information , but it still felt like starting over. I feel as this was not a time saver at all. Many times it felt as if we were repeating ourselves. But this is nly temporary and once everything was set, we were good to go.
More or less a specific fee for specific services. I'd rather not get into any more detail than that.
We are very happy with ADP as our payroll vendor. Their service has been above satisfactory. I'd suggest that you stay in contact with your Sales Rep from start to finish. You may be direct to someone else but your Sales Rep is your point of contact and I find that to be key, should there be a new issue.

Upgrading ADP Workforce Now

Yes - Yes especially recently all upgrades are done overnight and have gone perfectly. I think that ADP has taken the time to make sure of that it is a smooth and easy process. Should an issue come up, contacting customer service has been easy and they walk you through all of the steps needed to get back up and running
  • Time & Attendance
  • Pay File Upgrade
  • simplified the batch process even more
  • simplifying reporting
