Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp

Mailchimp is mainly used as a distribution method for our newsletter. We can keep our subscribers up to date with the newest information, products, and services on a weekly basis. The marketing department uses it for the most part. It helps us to communicate with our customers and subscribers as well as collect new subscribers through forms. It also assists in determining what they are and are not interested in.
  • Automation of triggers based on set rules
  • Analysis of email campaigns
  • Easy to use
  • Drag and drop email template builder
  • Subscription prices can go very high depending on the email count you have
  • More languages should be available to create emails for people outside the US
  • Customer service can be frustrating at some times
  • It helps letting customers and potential customers know about or services which can boost ROI.
  • It keeps all out contacts in one place and lets us see how interested they are in a variety of topics.
  • Segregation of contacts makes it easy to specifically target certain consumers.
Mailchimp was easier to navigate and had, at the time of purchase, the features we needed. While ActiveCampaign has a few more advanced features, it seems less intuitive to learn how to use those. Mailchimp offers more templates to use for our emails. For us, it was based on the easiness of creating emails and seeing the results.
It is easy to use their interface as everything is clearly labeled. I can create campaigns with a few clicks, review my subscription lists, edit account settings and more. It looks very self-explanatory especially once you get used to it. They also have a knowledgebase available if you need help with getting started on certain tasks.
It is very useful to go through the options that Mailchimp offers as you can create email campaigns, landing pages, signup forms and more. You can also create social posts and track them from within Mailchimp. That can eliminate the use of other social media sharing software and their cost. So it creates a time saving and cost-saving opportunity for any company that takes advantage of the features Mailchimp offers.
I can see what kind of emails are opened more than others and what topics seem more interesting to our audience based on their clicks. It helps to focus or marketing efforts on those services and products the customers like the most. Mailchimp helps with automation emails and workflow to remind those who did not open or click on anything to take a second look with a follow-up email.
It works well if you have compiled a good amount of emails that opted into your newsletter for example. With just one click you can send one email to thousands of people, track the open and click behavior, and set up follow up triggers based on that. You can also set up autoresponders when someone signs up on your website or blog. Mailchimp makes it easy to spread your message.

It will not work for affiliate marketing or spammers as they have strict rules in place and your list has to be clean. If too many emails bounce, they will put your account on hold to investigate.

Using Mailchimp

2 - The people who use Mailchimp are in the marketing and sales functions. The marketing department uses the email campaigns to advertise products and services to the current list subscribers as well as the form creator to collect new subscribers. The sales department will use the reports from campaigns to follow up with leads and set up meetings to discuss further options.
2 - As a small business, we don't have many employees. One person with marketing skills will use Mailchimp to create campaigns while another person with sales and customer service skills will use the reports to identify opportunities for further discussion.
  • Keeping subscribers updated about ongoing services, products and events
  • During major holidays we will use it as well to wish everyone a nice holiday
  • we have not used the landing page option within Mailchimp and may take advantage of that
As long as we have information to give to our subscribers, the email system is still one of the best methods to reach everyone. That alone will keep us subscribed to Mailchimp in the future and because they have a pause my account option, it makes it even more convenient to stay with them.

Evaluating Mailchimp and Competitors

Yes - Active Campaign was the original product we used for newsletter distribution. One thing was the cost factor as the Active Campaign had more cost to it than Mailchimp. On the other hand, we looked at the email design creator which seems easier to use than Active Campaign. Both products achieve similar results.

As a small business, price is most likely an important factor when purchasing software. Large corporations have a bigger budget to invest when it comes to marketing but as a small business, we have to carefully select the right choice in order to help us grow. So it has to be within the set budget.
I don't think I would change my evaluation and selection process. I look at all aspects of the product and compare it with others in the market and then make a decision based on that. I factor in price, features and usability to make sure it works for us while saving time and cost.

Mailchimp Implementation

There is not that much to the implementation of Mailchimp as it is not something to download and install. You just have to explore the features available.
