Overall Satisfaction with TeamViewer

TeamViewer is used to connect to computing resources on the internal network in order to access IT resources not published to the Internet. It is used primarily by the IT department. We also use it to provide remote support to end-points and users as and when needed. TeamViewer is easy to set up and can group resources where VPN is not an option.
  • Reliable for always on-access, where VPN is not an option.
  • MFA at login provides additional security.
  • Random password one-time password makes accidental access harder.
  • Remote control is not very refined.
  • Tighter integration with windows security standards to make remote control useful.
  • Session recording could be improved.
  • TeamViewer has allowed us to provide remote support easily.
  • Cost for a license is not exorbitant, even for SME.
  • Does not replace the security of a VPN solution as it still involved going through a 3rd party.
  • External/Vendor support is easily provided through TeamViewer.
TeamViewer has been around a lot longer than the alternatives and has provided a consistent experience. The improvements on the security front are welcome and necessary in the current environment. Not sure if making TeamViewer a full collaboration platform will help it to stand out from the competition who have slicker interfaces and regular updates.

TeamViewer works well on Android phones and iOS iPad. The feature set is consistent across the devices and the low bandwidth nature of the application allows for use on the road. File transfer is an important feature. Ability to have a set of GPO for easy deployment and customization of TeamViewer would be ideal as this is limited for now.
Two-factor authentication is ideal and we have activated it for our account. It provides an additional layer of confirmation before login to view and access resources connected to the account.
If VPN is available and working well, then TeamViewer is not necessarily a better option. It still requires a dedicated computer to VPN to in order to support it or the rest of the network. Ideal for small organizations where costly VPN solutions are not available.

Providing one-on-one computer-computer support is where TeamViewer works well.
The non-commercial option makes it ideal for occasional use.

TeamViewer Security and Support

We purchased the TeamViewer license after we started using it a lot. The licensed version allowed us to have longer sessions without getting disconnected. This was ideal for server management.
MFA, 2FA was very easy to set up and gives us peace of mind that the login accounts would not be compromised even if the password was.
Yes and Yes.

Using TeamViewer

TeamViewer allows me to easily connect to remote PC and works on a variety of OS platforms. This allows me to connect to remote computers in both unattended mode as well as to easily provide support during a logged on user sessions. I also like the options to transfer files. MFA provides an additional layer of security which is very important.
