Overall Satisfaction with TriNet

My accounting team runs payroll via TriNet, and my company offers benefits to employees, including health insurance and 401K, via TriNet. My employees use TriNet's online portal to access and track payroll and benefits information, and they use TriNet's various support services to get questions related to benefits addressed. Essentially, TriNet provides the company with HR expertise and support that we need so that we don't have to build an HR department in-house at this stage.
  • Works seamlessly with our accounting team to run payroll.
  • Employees can easily access and track payroll and benefits info online.
  • Live support services are very good, especially for employees.
  • May be cost prohibitive for some small companies.
This is where TriNet is the clear winner over other PEOs. The Tech platform is very user-friendly, and support is always available. Service-specific experts (e.g., health insurance, retirement planning) are easily available both to the employer and their employees. The only downside is that we cannot on-board, pay, or otherwise deal with our freelancers (independent contractors) via TriNet. The service/partner TriNet offers for this, Qwil, is terrible, so we had to find another solution for dealing with this part of our workforce.
The platform is very user-friendly. And whenever you or your employees need assistance, TriNet's support team is available. The only thing that would improve usability would be the seamless integration of independent contractor management as well.
  • Has improved payroll accuracy, including timely info to employees
  • Has enabled us to offer top-notch health plan options
  • Has enabled us to provide retirement benefits despite in-house lack of expertise in this area
  • Allows our employees access to expert advice & support related to health coverage and retirement planning
  • Offers employees a wider variety of perks beyond standard benefits, which improves our ability to hire and retain the best talent
  • Negative: There is a price for all of these advantages. JustWorks would have been less expensive.
  • Negative: Qwil is a terrible solution for managing independent contractors, so it is necessary for us to take care of this outside of TriNet.
  • Justworks
TriNet offers a wider variety of health plans and retirement benefit options. The company reps we met with demonstrated a higher level of expertise about their products, and the support offered for employees is more extensive.
TriNet is well suited for a company that has reached a certain size where HR expertise and resources are needed, but has *not* yet reached a size where building its own HR department is feasible. After we reviewed several PEOs carefully, TriNet stood out as the best-combined HR and benefits management solution, especially for a company like ours with employees in multiple states. It is a bit more expensive than some other PEOs, so some small companies would not be able to afford TriNet.

Using TriNet

4 - Corporate (C-Suite), Accounting & Finance, Operations (on-boarding and managing employees)
2 - Our head of finance did the most during setup, and they continue to oversee the payroll function on an ongoing basis; but once setup was complete, there has been little for them to do. Integration with our accounting platform is seamless. Beyond this, one other manager uses TriNet for onboarding new employees, tracking employee information, and disseminating information to employees when necessary.
  • Running payroll, seamless integration with accounting platform
  • Offering benefits that make us competitive with larger companies in terms of hiring and retaining talent
  • Providing employees with ongoing, easy access to accurate payroll and benefits information
  • All members of our organization have been able to broaden and enrich their understanding of retirement planning
  • Will likely utilize features available to facilitate job candidate searches
For all the reasons given in this review, we are highly likely to renew with TriNet, as it supports our key business objectives. Fingers crossed that TriNet will offer better options in the near future for managing independent contractors, so we can manage our entire workforce in one place.
