ADP RUN

RUN by ADP is perfect, in my opinion, for any size of company. Whether you have 5 employees or 500 employees. I feel that RUN by ADP will meet your needs and help make processing payroll as smooth as possible. Using RUN by ADP is a huge time saver for me. I love how easy it is to add new employees. I work at a company that is experiencing big growth and I am grateful for how easy it is to add new employees. I wish RUN by ADP was more transparent about the cutoff times to process payroll timely. It would be very nice to know what is the latest I could process payroll to have it be processed on time

Pros

  • Very easy to add new employees. The process to add new employees is a simple step by step process. If you have the employee present, it is even more easier.
  • Processing Payroll. Processing payroll with RUN by ADP is super easy. When it is time to run payroll, you click on "run payroll" and follow the steps to process payroll for the given period. Processing Payroll with RUN by ADP is super easy and painless.
  • Reporting. RUN by ADP has so many different types of reports. You can get a report for each pay period by each employee or you can run a report for the entire year. Super Helpful.

  • Paycor does not yet have the option to NOT receive a pay stub. For example, I would choose to not receive a pay stub if possible. Even though I am on Direct Deposit and have access to my records, there is a fee associated with each paystub provided (nominal). I would like to forego the stub and just view my information online when I choose, saving money and paper. There is not yet any system for achieving this.
  • Loans/ advances. While I have gotten used to Paycor's system, I do not like it. Their system forces the loans to be a constant running total for the employee over their entire employment. For example, if I took $1000 of advance last year and I want another $500 this year, the loan requires the balance limit be set to $1500. I can set how much to pay per week easily enough, but I don't like the running total, year over year. There is no other option per our rep. We've asked.
  • We've had a fair amount of rep turnover during our time with Paycor. It would be nice to have a bit more stability and a nice relationship with 1 person.

Paycor usually can come up with an answer, but I don't like that we have had so many different people. The information for reaching out is helpfully posted on your home page when you log in, though. Definite points there. Paycor wants you to be able to get help, but the person helping just can vary.

Alternatives Considered

Compared to Paycor, ADP's web portal is much easier to navigate and use which has made running payroll easier. While the overall features are similar, ADP has more options such as integrating an HR support feature and linking to a 401k that make it more flexible. I have also found that generating reports is much easier in ADP's site, especially since it auto generates some key reports as soon as payroll is run.

Basically, Paycor is easier to use and has better client support that I was getting before. I chose to move our payroll to Paycor because I needed something that was more intuitive, and I needed to know that when I had a question or a problem - especially on processing week - I would be able to get help without waiting hours for it.

Return on Investment

  • Before using RUN, I had to bring in someone to help with our old payroll system. Now, I am fully confident in doing it myself and no longer have to bring in outside help, which saves us money in the end.
  • It has helped us establish a company handbook and other resources for new hires and even current employees that may not have received any information upon being hired.

  • I am a department of 1 handling over 300 employees. I don't know how to calculate the ROI since having Paycor didn't replace any labor and wasn't appreciably different in price from the prior provider. But I do know that the program itself has been easier to use, which makes my work load a bit more bearable.
