At company level Spotfire is used to create various dashboards to ease day to day activities.
  • quick data insight with pre-defined figures
  • The data compression has room for improvement.
  • The usage of SPDF files can be improved
intuitive tools that help to get dashboard done in timely manner with a possibility to extend functionality using various languages

i use it to make fast and accurate pricing decisions being able to live link external data for commodity pricing and overlay it with my internal sequal and terra data servers.
  • geo mapping
  • chart visualization
  • easy calculated columns
  • making it easier to make pages that use the same data set have different filtering options instead of just one that makes everything move
  • more youtube videos
  • training in python and r for spotfire related querries
it is most suited for internal and external data linking to keep data continuously flowing. it is less appropriate when you have small amount of data that is not organized. it should be able to make it so you can easily transition your data into a meaningful data. it is more suited for mapping as well.

Spotfire is great at visualizing very large data sets. With hundreds or thousands of process inputs and outputs you can easily see correlation / causation when one part of the manufacturing process changes and the effect it has on others.

It is also easy to build dashboards to easily convey results to people with less statistically robust backgrounds.

Overall, Spotfire is an essential tool that allows for interrogating manufacturing issues and resolving them quickly with minimal effort.
  • Trend charts for QC metrics that can rapidly be filtered by process inputs
  • Yield reporting trends and grouping by process inputs
  • Dashboards for statistical analysis of process inputs as compared to historical performance
  • I would love to see a native Pareto chart visualization
  • Have an way to default a "profile" setting. For example coloring on visualizations Pass/Good should be green and Fail/Bad should be red
Spotfire was used to look at a large data set of an in process manufacturing step. The data visualization was set up to look at yield as a function of several inputs (chemical / equipment / operator). After only a short analysis it was immediately obvious that there was a 5% yield discrepancy based on the operator using the equipment. The operators were retrained and the yield gap was eliminated.

In our organization, Spotfire is instrumental in high-level development, particularly with field data. Conducting PoCs, Spotfire helps analyze and visualize data, uncover patterns, and assess feasibility. With its rich visualization options, we present findings effectively to stakeholders. Spotfire's capabilities enhance our ability to harness field data insights and make informed decisions for successful solution implementation.
  • Embedded Data Analysis
  • Flexibility
  • Visualizations
  • Embedded Streaming Capability
  • Pricing Model
  • Version Control
Spotfire is well suited for the quick development of PoCs and dashboarding within a DEV environment. Its user-friendly interface, extensive data connectivity options, and interactive visualization capabilities enable developers to rapidly prototype and validate ideas. Additionally, Spotfire has the ability to create interactive dashboards that empower developers to showcase their PoC results and present data-driven insights effectively within the development environment. Due to its missing version control, the productization of these dashboards is rather problematic.

We Spotfire in our Marketing Tech Dashboard. We build dashboards to help users understand data and come up with insights. Insights that help them take actions to help company manage their revenue and manage the churn. The Spotfire is very powerful tool especially it's ability to use simple scripting to be able to use complicated calculations like forecast, rate difference, % of Total, running % changes, etc.
  • Matrix Table or CrossTable
  • Scripting to build some complicated calculations
  • User Friendly Visualizations configurations
  • The donut chart is I guess a powerful illustrations but I hope it should be done quite simple in Spotfire. But in Spotfire there are lots of steps involve just to build a simple donut chart.
  • Table calculation (like Row or Column Differences) should be made simple or there should be drag and drop function for Table Calculation. No need for scripting.
  • Information Link should be changed. If new columns are added to the table just refreshing the data should be able to capture the new column. No need extra step to add column
Spotfire is really a powerful visualization tool because it is very user friendly. The way it manages the data and allows users to build visualizations are very intuitive. So I can say Spotfire can really be used even by non-technical people like the Marketing folks. But some complex functionalities, some technical knowledge is required like coding so it becomes less appropriate for those who has zero knowledge in programming. So I guess what Spotfire has to work on is to enhance the tool in a way that those other calculations can be done by using drag-and-drop approach.

Spotfire is an excellent tool for yield analysis, engineering verification, and design of experiments. Every user has the option to customize the layout and tasks performed by this versatile tool. Large amounts of data is efficiently managed and can be displayed quickly in many different forms. Spotfire also is growing in terms of MODS available and scripts that are found from the robust online community.
  • Efficiently pulls large data
  • Versatile tool that is easily customizable
  • Easy to learn
  • The Iron Python scripting feels very limited
  • Better modeling tools to help with analysis
  • The annotation is too limited
  • Would love to see a method to sample the data, such as every x number of lines.
Spotfire is an excellent tool for the production environment, such as yield monitoring, process control, and long trends. It does well with drilling down marked data and provides insight into troubled lots. Its less appropriate for simple summaries for management. They get confused with the complexity of the tool; best to stick with an excel file or powerpoint.

I use Spotfire in my organization by creating visualizations for our data. I also create tables that are able to be queried without much user difficulty. Spotfire addresses the business problems mentioned. Other platforms do not provide the connectivity, flexibility, and options that Spotfire provides. It also allows for data from multiple different sources to join, modify, etc.
  • combine data from multiple sources
  • user friendly controls
  • various ways to manipulate data
  • process to store passwords for data could be easier
  • preview for data transformation steps does not work well (or at all at times)
  • Messages for information link errors could point out problems better
Spotfire is well suited for visualizations of data in various forms. There are multiple ways to display the data and a lot of customization available. In particular, I can overlay a line graph on multiple bar graphs and then be able to switch the data values to look at, zoom in/out, and plenty of other things.

As an engineer I work with millions and millions of rows of data which can be very intimidationg. With the help of Spotfire I am easily able to arrange this data within visualizations that help me understand it and draw conclusions. It is also very easy to switch between the visualizations to facilitate quick learning. The scope of my use case is daily usage with auto updated data within the tool.
  • Visaulization Sugggestion
  • Ability to set many filters
  • Great way to collaborate with
  • Documentation can be more helpful
  • Add custom property controls when importing data
  • Can be very slow as size of data grows
This is very well suited for detailed implementation of data analytics. Youc an have thousands of rows of data and with the help of spotfire you can get descriptive stats and vizualizations.

It is not as convenient for quick data analysis as the over head is too much, I prefer excel for that

  • Easy integration with open source R and Tibco's R.
  • Web and mobile capable.
  • Interactivity between visualizations is well designed.
  • Integration with open source Python.
  • Built-in visualization variety falls behind competitors.
For those looking to blend custom analytics and useful variety of off the shelf visualizations.

We first use it with an on-premise solution Now we use it through the cloud as a BI tool, to provide condition based maintenance insights, for predictive maintenance services and to provide railway operators with services related with energy consumption, drivers performance, safety related issues. We are also using it for purchase forecasting internal services.
  • big data connectivity
  • handling miliseconds
  • interactive drill down BI
  • service
  • availability SaaS
  • price
Is very well suited for condition based maintenance, predictive maintenance, material forecasting, to connect with big data great volumes use cases and very well suited to work with AWS, S3 and other cloud solutions It is not very well suited to provide service to a lot of different external clients as the "landing page" is the Spotfire one and not your solution. When having issues to solve the speed of SaaS support could be improved

Spotfire is used to conduct exploratory data analysis and advanced analytics. It allows us to visualize large sets of data easily with a significant speed advantage over some of its competitors (e.g. Power BI & Tableau). This tool is used across the organization by our analysts to support various organizational reporting needs.
  • Spotfire is a powerful BI Platform
  • Spotfire can easily perform data operations (ETL) within the platform and leverage existing code from R and Python
  • the suite of visualization options is extensive
  • Spotfire requires IT support for implementation
  • Spotfire requires IT support for ongoing maintenance
  • The tool navigation can be difficult to navigate
Spotfire is powerful BI tool, with strong data operations (i.e. ETL) and powerful visualizations. If you are working with a large datasets or streaming datasets, Spotfire is a great option. Spotfire also supports the ability to bring your own code from R or Python. This allows the tool to be quite versatile. This is a tool designed for Enterprises.

We would like to use Spotfire in our Research Centre at the Hospital for a quick visualization and analysis of the data for projects which do not need the development of ad hoc methods, to be used by users without a computational background. The results were okay, although you always need to take into account the cost related to changing a workflow from what people are used to. In particular, those without a technical background were thrilled to be able to run simple analyses without having to learn how to code. A couple of years later, we decided to use Spotfire to show results to collaborators
  • Ease of use
  • Visualization
  • Communication
  • Generating figures
  • Handling of samples. We would have liked something closer to a laboratory information management system, where samples could be tracked before sequencing. Even tracking the position of a vial in a fridge/rack would be useful for us.
  • Documentation
Spotfire is well suited for environments where data analysis is standard and can be run through automated pipelines: the final results need to be showed to people who can not write or interpret the analysis details, but want to explore the results independently and put them in the context of published data.

we are using Spotfire as our main reporting tool. Previously we used Business Objects, but we don’t use it anymore. With Spotfire we make daily reports about our production results, OEE, etc. Also we use Spotfire-dashboards for management. We are using it through the whole organization from CEO to Teamleader.
  • The drill down of data works very well. No static reports anymore, but fancy reports, from which you can check the details (by the drill down).
  • the relations which can be found in the data can be very helpful.
  • I find it very useful that we can make one report with several datasources underneath. (I'm used to Business Objects, you couldn't do that very easy in that too.)
  • You can make a basic report with different tabs in it, f.e. For stock and use this report as a ‘linked report’ in several other reports. So you keep your maintenance low.
  • We use often the possibility of using one report for several kind of users. = one view!
  • Spotfire reports are very ‘visual’, you can see, in one view where the deviations are.
  • The courses aren't good. No documentation and I think it's called 'robotcourses'. You get to know what you can do with Spotfire (how to click), but principles, pros and cons aren't explained.
  • Spotfire could pay more attention to the dataset, how it's best organized to get the best results from your reports.
  • It would be helpful if the course could be held in Dutch.

Making trends is very easy to do with this tool in short time.

Making a kind of reports which you can make very easily with Business Objects ( a lot of numeric values on a page, with a small lettersize) is not easy to do and it doesn't look nice. It's not 'pixelperfect'.

In R&D we have different departments, and we use Spotfire for our studies in the electronic Trial Master file (eTMF) department to see the cleanliness and completeness of eTMFs. We also use it to measure progress towards KPIs and targets, and to prioritize actions.
  • It's very easy to filter data you want, and what you want to see
  • Lot of visualization options
  • It's very fast
  • enabling various scripts like Python etc should be a built-in feature of Spotfire
It is well suited when you want to present visual data to management, and i would say also to end users because of details on demand and raw data.

Spotfire is currently being used for real-time tracking. Like other software, Spotfire is more for visualizations. At the same time those visualizations help us in picking out only related data. Currently, it is being used to address supply chain problems that most industries face - assisting them with inventory management and logistics
  • Interface has everything you need to create your desired visualization
  • Upon selecting specific parts of the visualization you get to see which data is responsible for the visuals
  • You can add multiple visuals on one page
  • Concise story telling software
  • For writing a script an additional software is required
Spotfire is well suited for storytelling, live reporting and overall a splendid dashboard

We use Spotfire as data visualization tool for displaying current status of our production line. With Spotfire it enable us to create dashboards with ease as it's user interface is easy to understand specialty the new version. Another thing with solve with spotfire is easy to create custom visualization and custom ui functionality using JavaScript. Another thing I like with spotfire is you can change your chart properties on the fly using iron python.
  • Custom visual
  • Data Extraction
  • Report Deployment
  • Data source type mixing
  • Need more improvement for creating formulas
  • Easier custom script integration
  • Easy data import
Spotfire is the best specially on onpremise setup. It will provide a lot of flexibility on your reporting need via it's custom visual using JavaScript, update chart property on the fly using iron python and easy to manage server user and data sources. I only don't like with spotfire is its documentation for server setup is seems not updated in some scenarios. Also some error messages during server setup is not sufficient to solve issues.

Spotfire is an amazing choice as a BI Analytics platform. It provides end to end solution of all Data Analytics needs, with all cutting age modern technology integrations available. It is a solution as a whole or as a small piece of implementation. It offers compete control over the components and a rich API to automate it. Developers feel empowered and are free to choose technology of their choice like TERR, Python, IronPython, JavaScript etc.; and without much learning curve they can start contributing with the help of their existing skill-set. Spotfire is a scalable, trust worthy, available and secure platform as a Summary.
  • Innovation
  • Availability of trending technology
  • Integrations with Data Science Platforms
  • Easy to use
  • Complete control over different components
  • They should introduce Python native visualizations
  • Learning Materials for basic and Intermediate level should be made free. This helps to attract and onboard new users.
  • Jupyter integration will be a great improvement.
  • There should be approach available for parallel development. For Example, Two person should be able to edit and save same dashboard if they are working with different components.
I was asked to analyze a huge distributed data set and it was no feasible to develop Data Model level that quickly. Spotfire's scripting capabilities helped a lot to convert the requirements in to a feasible requirement, it allowed to programmatically read data, dynamically transform and visualize on the fly. This was not feasible with other tools, without having a data layer established. This saved a lot of time.

Spotfire is being used as an Enterprise level Business Intelligence Platform. Our data is being fed from various different ERP's and a ETL team is transforming the data in a way it can be consumed by spotfire. During the design phase the spotfire and ETL teams come together and create a model where certain things will be handled in spotfire and most of them in the warehouse. Spotfire is a very robust tool, pulling lots of data with less columns ,makes no harm and gives ideal results.
  • Spotfire has a great Geo Analytics platform where Geo-coding is automatically performed from version 6.0 and complex geoanalytics problems can be solved in combination with the Tibco Enterprise Runtime for R (TERR) engine, if the company has R language expertise
  • Spotfire has some cool inbuilt functions available through which we do not have to do manual calculations like Total,%Cumulative Sum,YOY,MOM QOQ kind of stuff, and lots other functions which make life simpler
  • Iron python scripting is an advantage but, of course, tricky initially if you do not have experience, but it can simplify users' lives if used properly
  • Scheduled updates and caching. If we are trying to get the dashboards up in a flash , this feature is useful
  • One more important thing in the latest version, is the business author piece on the web player where business users can develop their own stuff on Web, this is a good start and hope to see this developed further
  • Spotfire is coming up with new Mobile Metrics platform, i.e. it is responsive on mobile devices
  • Also there is a new KPI chart which can be very useful for Executive reporting.
  • Customizability on the Analyst end: Spotfire is a good tool, but there are a few points where it should improve. I cannot hide an object like a tab or visualization r
  • Data Load speed at the analyst level, I somehow feel when i try to load data in the analyst level it loads slow and while using at webplayer because of the schedule updates it runs fast. I know there is the caching concept, but it is unlike QlikView whichgives a great performance with the desktop version as well. I would expect the same to happen here
Suitable Key questions to buy/use Spotfire: Do you have an enterprise data warehouse ready and are looking for a BI tool which can get you results fast with less development? Do you have a group of analyst who are good at Excel type reporting and can learn a new tool and do better reporting? Do you have a group of data analysts who want to study data to identify patterns in it? Are you looking for a tool/technology company which takes customer feedback and incorporates them into the tool quickly? Are you looking for a tool whose tech forum is increasing? Apart from the above questions, if your team has basic programming skills , they can utilize the power of Java Script/Iron Python and R language to make wonders in spotfire. Ideally any scenario is possible in Spotfire, but do not consider this as data Transformation tool, basic transformations are possible ,but typically its a reporting tool which can tell the story of your data effectively. My purpose to use the software is short development cycles sometimes overnight if data is there.

We use Spotfire mainly to display data in the form of dashboards. It is used by us to make decisions on plan changes by advising whether new production plans are realistic and in line with past performance. Various inputs can be quickly changed if the production plan isn’t realistic and then a new review of the dashboard occurs. Having unrealistic plans causes waste in the supply chain.
  • Easy to create new dashboards
  • Display data in an easy to digest form
  • Ability to change views on the fly
  • Initial Load time is slow
  • Graphs aren’t always visually appealing
  • More options for input data sources
We use Spotfire to display data for management. Management often needs information presented in different forms. In meetings with them, they will often ask for data to be arranged in contrasting modes and Spotfire allows for this to be done seamlessly and on the fly.

Our organization is always trying to understand our clients and serve them in the best possible way. So to achieve so we need to perform regular analysis and keep track of the business. And since this needs to be done on enterprise-level under the legitimate procedure, a lot of data need to be processed, analyzed and then processed data need to be converted into visual and easy depictions for various dashboards. So to achieve a solution for the motioned problem we have deployed the Spotfire in the place. And it's actually working above the expectations from the individual. We are having a variety of dashboards from where we are able to analyze and forecast the views to customers/clients and it's helping them to run their business efficiently and smoothly, which directly and indirectly helps my organization to get trust and obviously a lot of engagements from the client and we are very happy at our end to attract and satisfy them.
  • Data analysis and in-depth visualization
  • Generation of graphs and other visuals after analysis are quite great and efficient
  • Its support for mobile device is quite great which enables anywhere anytime access
  • Great support for dashboards which is quite promising and a prominent part in the analysis
  • Best part which makes it even more better is it supports the expression language
  • The UI is not flexible in terms of usage. So customization option should be provided so a user can set up as per requirements
  • Few features seem to be not stable for example the text editor changes the code layout on its own, so we get different things that we have saved.
  • Absorbing and consolidating data from a numerous different provider regions is very difficult to handle and as well as very slow to analyze as it takes a lot of time for visualization
Scenarios, where Spotfire is well sited, are 1. Data visualization at the enterprise level, to generate in-depth insights 2. Generate reports, charts, or graphs to represent insights in the most efficient way. 3. Plethora of apps are bundled to get analyzed results. 4. Supports a lot of languages so no need to be restricted by language boundary. 5. It supports a variety of users for example end-users, Statisticians or developers, or just business personnel to get an insight into the ecosystem. Places where Spotfire seems to be less appropriate: 1. It's quite cumbersome if the data feed is from a vast number of regions. 2. When a lot of customization seems to be a frequent call.

We use Spotfire to create a dashboard for our end-user. We run several simulation and ML models on other tools like SAS, store the outputs on a SQL database and present the results on a Spotfire dashboard for our internal customers. We also use Spotfire for several spot checks and quick analyses.
  • Enterprise-wide license
  • A lot of options to connect to many databases
  • Help tools
  • The UI can be simpler. Tableau is a lot simpler and neater.
  • Options for animations. Sheets like Tableau have it.
  • Options for geospatial mapping.
I think Spotfire would be very useful for a new user who is getting into data visualization. But it’s not a great tool if you want to do [anything] really complicated - need visualization experiments or dashboards. I think Tableau is a lot better. It is a lot easier and more visually appealing.

Spotfire is used by many business teams across our organization for reporting and visualization requirements. The dashboards serve many end users for their daily updates and business requirements. The required data comes from different data sources, and users access Spotfire to examine daily changes and impact on their business needs. Also, it allows them to download data and visualizations that can be used for presentations.
  • Easy to build reports and visualizations.
  • Simplifies the process of data federation by allowing definition of data models and information links.
  • Spotfire provides [an] easy way for end users to dig deeper and manage data.
  • Provide data lineage maps that would help developers.
  • More drag and drop functions that facilitate development efforts.
  • Need more administrative tasks such as ability to see user activity in structured manners.
Spotfire is well suited in areas where ad-hoc analysis need to be performed and results can be displayed in different visualization formats.
