Overall Satisfaction with Spotfire

Spotfire is an excellent tool for yield analysis, engineering verification, and design of experiments. Every user has the option to customize the layout and tasks performed by this versatile tool. Large amounts of data is efficiently managed and can be displayed quickly in many different forms. Spotfire also is growing in terms of MODS available and scripts that are found from the robust online community.

Pros

  • Efficiently pulls large data
  • Versatile tool that is easily customizable
  • Easy to learn

Cons

  • The Iron Python scripting feels very limited
  • Better modeling tools to help with analysis
  • The annotation is too limited
  • Would love to see a method to sample the data, such as every x number of lines.
  • Analysis helped increase product yield 18%, saving over $70K quarterly
  • Faster tool and product qualification. Leading to more new products released
  • Negative impact is staff reluctance to adopt the tool. Initial complexity is high and discouraging to learn

Spotfire is an excellent tool for the production environment, such as yield monitoring, process control, and long trends. It does well with drilling down marked data and provides insight into troubled lots. Its less appropriate for simple summaries for management. They get confused with the complexity of the tool; best to stick with an excel file or powerpoint.
