What is Tresorit?

Tresorit offers end-to-end encrypted file sync & sharing. The vendor promises an ultra-secure place in the cloud to store, sync and share files easily from anywhere, anytime. The vendor says Tresorit is powered by end-to-end encryption and enhanced with a flexible permission system, therefore it seals your files away from internal data breaches and hackers. All the data is securely stored according to the GDPR in Europe in Microsoft Azure datacenters.

Tresorit promises to help secure your team member's collaboration with shared team folders. Manage who can add, edit or only view the data you shared. Team members can securely access the updated files using their browser, desktop, or mobile device, wherever they are.

Files can be shared with the same secure manners outside your company as well. You can replace risky email attachments with ultra-secure share links. Thanks to end-to-end encryption, only you and your recipient can open the files, nobody in-between.

Getting Started with Tresorit for Business - Send files securely
Work seamlessly across offices, and on the road without giving up on security. Upload and access your files with zero-knowledge encryption from any desktop and mobile device.
Filmmaker Will Bakke (Riot Studios) talks about his heartbreaking experience of losing the footage of his film held on hard drives and the winding road that lead him to Tresorit.
"The automatic, end-to-end encryption is the best thing about Tresorit by far. The company has also been very proactive in listening to our feedback and the product is constantly developing and adjusting to the market needs. For us, it was the perfect fit." - Ian Wheeler, IT M...

Tresorit is being used across the entire organization. As a venture fund, we need to store copies of data rooms we review securely. We also have internal documents and metrics we need to keep securely stored, as well as our Limited Partner data. Furthermore, we required independence from Google and other large file storage organizations. We had a bad experience with Google, there was an issue with a secure key on Google Domains, so Google just turned off our entire account, which led to no access to Drive, Calendar, Email, and other services. With limited to no support, and lacking security options, we found most alternatives to Tresorit unacceptable.
  • Support
  • Secure Storage
  • Shared Folders with outside guests, to collaborate with them (collect uploads).
  • Removal of data-cap on file size, and right now, there is one, and it's an issue when storing rich media (such as startup pitch videos, etc.).
Good scenario: Wanting to have your files stored by an independent group that specializes in secure file storage. The ability to have files stored on servers that are not domestic is a big plus too. We had issues in the past with a solution that went down when the US AWS East Coast servers had an issue; Tresorit is insulated from these problems and appears to handle load balancing as well.

Not good scenario: If you want to have outside parties, upload files/share files with you within your Tresorit environment. There is no way of doing this, and this is a real operational problem.

  • Ensures our business is able to remain operational.
  • Provides comfort on data security and compliance.
Secure and independently operated. We selected Tresorit for its secure file storage capabilities that the other services (except SpiderOak) did not provide. Tresorit is a zero-knowledge system, which gives us a lot of comforts when it comes to secure data storage. SpiderOak was a close alternative, but they have been in continuous development to provide competitive features, and still haven't provided what we needed (SpiderOak has promised features for several years at this point).
Exceptionally responsive. This is something we needed from our storage provider. We are continuously accessing the information, and downtime or technical issues would be and are unacceptable. We have had no downtime issues so far, and Support has been responsive to us whenever needed. Exactly what we needed from their service.
