Overall Satisfaction with Barracuda Load Balancer

We use our Barracuda Load Balancer to load balance both our VDI and Exchange traffic. All traffic for both these services go through the load balancer.
  • It provides real time monitoring of each server being load balanced, and will show an alert if something goes offline.
  • It allows one to put a server or service in maintenance mode in preparation for planned maintenance.
  • Overall, there are no issues. It just runs.
  • It was a prerequisite for moving to Microsoft Exchange 2016, which requires a load balancer solution as part of the design. So, it allowed us to move forward with that upgrade. Having it to load balance VDI sessions is a bonus.
We did not seriously evaluate any other products. We have had a Barracuda Spam Firewall for many years, and that has been amazing. This seemed like a good choice as well.
It works well with our Exchange 2016 environment, allowing us to manage SMTP, IMAP, and POP3 as separate services. We also use it with our VMware Horizon View security servers.
